Tom Liu started piano at the age of 6 with Esther Chung Marks of Port Jefferson Station
in 2013. He received First Class Honors with Distinction in the Royal Conservatory
Music Development Program Level 7. His 15 and 20-piece Piano Guild International
programs earned him Superior + in the “Elementary Special” category. In 2015, Tom
performed at Carnegie Hall as a Grand Prix Winner in the Concert Festival Competition
and the Russian Music at Carnegie Hall recital. Tom was the First Place winner in the
Elementary and Early Intermediate Divisions of the Suffolk Piano Teachers Foundation
Piano Competition.
He gives his solo recital debut today as the youngest First Prize Winner in the Concert
Festival Solo Recital Competition. Tom is a Grand Prix Winner in the Concert Festival
Concerto Competition, and will make his concerto debut in May. He performed in a master class for pianist
Tanya Gabrielian and will attend the prestigious Juilliard Pre-College program this fall.

Carrie Chen, 13, studies the piano with Michael Thomopoulos in New Jersey. Carrie is
winner of top prizes in many international competitions, including recently winning of
Grand Prix in 2015 and 2016 Concert Festival Concerto Competitions, First Prize in
Concert Festival Solo Recital Competition, First Prize in 2015 New Jersey Music
Teachers Association (NJMTA) Competition, GOLD Medal in 2015 and 2016 AADGT
Competitions, Gold Prize in the National League of Performing Arts Competition,
First Prize in the Olympic Challenge Competition, Grand Prize in the Crescendo
International Competition, Second Prize in Chopin International Piano Competition
in Hartford, CT.
Carrie has already concertized in Portugal, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Canada.
Locally Carrie performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Rose
Studio at Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall, Engelman Hall in Baruch College, Rockport Shalin Liu Performance
Center in MA, Bergen Performing Arts Center in NJ, Steinway Hall in NYC, and Steinway Piano Gallery in
Seattle and NJ.
Carrie has been invited to perform in Omega Ensemble’s various concerts for five years as a “Next Generation
Artist”. Carrie also performed a piano solo with Orquestra Clássica do Centro of Portugal conducted by Maestro
David Wyn Lloyd. Carrie has taken master classes with Prof. Eduardus Halim of New York University, Prof.
Gerald Robbins of Manhattan School of Music, Piano Faculty Meng - Chieh Liu of Curtis Institute of Music and
New England Conservatory, Prof. Igor Lebedev of St. Petersburg Conservatory and Prof. Ilona Timchenko from
Spain.
