This event was put on by Hulett and our Members Gary and Nancy Hollander through their Linn Creek Corvette Association. The weather was fabulous and there were 90+ cars on hand, including one of the largest assemblies of C-1’s, C-2’s and C-3’s I have seen at any show recently. Nancy and I noticed that this was one of the best run shows with more friendly, happy people than we have been to for some time. Congratulations to Gary and Nancy for their extremely hard work on this project. The Club held up very well against some extremely good competition so congratulations to the winners! They were: C-1 Conv =Mack Propst, runner -up; C-2 Conv = Jamie Jameson, runner-up; C-3 Conv = Debbie Faulconer, winner; C-3 Coupe, Jon Finley, runner-up; C-5 Conv, Darin Shackelford, runner-up; C-5 coupe, Barbara Hammond, winner; C-6 Conv, Chuck Waller, runner-up; C-6 Z06, Gary Cooper, winner; C-6 Z06, Eric Rosenthal, runner-up; Black Corvette Class, Don Sturn, winner; Pam Dotson, runner-up. President Craig Beach called the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m. New members Pete and Dianne Coret and Ivano and Donna Comelli were introduced. Nancy Hollander won the 50/50 drawing and will sell tickets at the next meeting. Craig reviewed decisions of the Officer’s meeting held on September 6th. The terms of office for the President and Vice-President were discussed. Since the Vice-President moves to the Presidency, it was agreed that because of the time commitment it would make more sense to have one year rather than two year terms of office. A volunteer is needed to fill the office of Vice-President for next year. Anyone interested may contact Bill Dotson or Craig Beach. Jeannie Sheets has done an outstanding job as CoTreasurer, however time constraints are requiring her to seek a replacement. Marlin Hammond has graciously agreed to fill this position. Mike Craig announced that the owners of Iguana Boat Rentals may allow us to display our cars in their lot without charge rather than on the street during Hot Summer Nights. The majority thought this was a good idea, so Mike will further explore this possibility. Officer Reports: Vice President, Bill Dotston: Our club now has 164 members. Thirty-four have been added in 2011. Bill passed out LOCC static clings to be displayed on car windshields during events. If you need more or did not get one see Bill. He also has T-shirts available with the LOCC logo for $12.00. Co-Treasurer, Gary Bachman: Beginning balance as of 8/1/2011 Deposits Disbursements Ending balance as of 8/31/2011 $4198.46 $ 375.00 $ 10.01 $4563.45 LOCC Secretary Report—continued mobs of people who were there to cheer and show their appreciation. Craig thanked all who attended. Mike and Debbie Faulconer thanked those who participated in the Fall Follies Car Show. Bob and Betty Goble and Larry and Dayna Salsman were thanked for making arrangements putting together the meal for our meeting. We were adjourned at 2:35 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Sue Rosenthal WELCOME NEW MEMBERS Secretary, Sue Rosenthal: It was a rainy, nasty day so we only had 15 Corvettes in the parking lot, however 50 members were in attendance. Web Master, Gary Hollander: If anyone has pictures from the Wounded Warriors Parade, please send them to Gary and he will post them on our web site. Events since the last meeting: There was an outstanding turn out for the Wounded Warrior’s Parade. Fifty-six LOCC Corvettes, 25 T buckets, and 26 motorcycles were available to escort and carry the soldiers, support staff, family members and additional enlisted personnel. It was a wonderful day for them, and they were stunned by the number of vehicles and by the October 2011 * Ivano & Donna Comelli Pete & Dianne Coret Cody & Conda Davidson Don’t forget to wear your “name tag” to LOCC functions. Because the size of our club has grown, and with the many new faces, the “name tags” come in handy. Thanks! Volume No. 11 * Issue No. 8 Page 2 Presidential Exhaust — continued The weekend of October 6th– 9th, 2011 is the Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend. This is a very popular event and we always have a great number of members who attend. Rooms can be difficult to obtain for that weekend. Many of our members have booked rooms at the Best Western or the Apple Blossom and The Lodge. The annual Friday evening BBQ will be held at The Lodge. This starts at 5 or 5:30 pm on Friday and the cooks will try to have food ready by 6 or 6:30. Be sure to bring your own drinks and a chair to this as the asphalt does get very hard if you sit on it for an extended period of time. Immediately following the Eureka Springs event is a new event that we have put a group together to attend. This event is the Greater New Orleans Corvette Club’s 20th annual ExtraVETTEganza held in Slidell, LA. We have the following members signed up at this time: Beach, Finley, Jameson (Earl), Jones, Klaus, Long, Nickless, Pease, Rice, and Salsman. There is a link on our web site to get information about the hotel and to register for the show. Next we will have member introductions. Everyone stand, introduce yourself and your spouse and tell us about your car. After that we introduce members who have Birthday celebrations this month, and those who have anniversaries this month. Upcoming events: As we get more details on other events coming up in 2011, we will keep the website ( www.locc2010.com )updated and cover them in emails and future newsletters. There are a number of car shows listed on our web site. As always, if you have an idea for a cruise you would lead us on, just let us know and we will be off and cruising! The November 13th monthly meeting is at 1:00 pm at the Osage River Bar and Grill in Laurie, MO. The meeting in December is on the 11th and is at Old Kinderhook. This will be an evening event with a very good meal and a band after the meal. Reservations will be required, so start planning now so that we can have your reservations by Friday December 2nd. If there is no further business, we are adjourned. Thank you very much. Chevrolet Corvette Trivia Because of limiting steel quotas left over from the Korean War, what was the outer body made out of? It was a beautiful sunny day for the twenty Corvettes (40 people) who traveled to Boonville for the 10:00 a.m. tour of the facility. Warm Springs Ranch is a breeding and training farm for the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales! The following pictures reflect the fun time we had. After the tour, the group traveled to the Isle of Capri Casino for a buffet lunch. (Ask Jack Rice if he enjoyed the pie!) There were 90 registered for the event and more showed up just to “meet and greet”! There were Corvettes from many surrounding states (Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas in addition to Missouri) and numerous Corvette Clubs; many of the people arrived as early as Thursday. The Linn Creek Corvette Association (Gary, Nancy and Russell Hollander; Kevin Haulotte volunteer) and Ryan Hulett (and Hulett staff members) put on the show. The pre-meeting at Mexicali Blues on Friday evening, 9/23/2011, had 50 Corvettes show up to pick up car show packets and to register for the event. The weather was beautiful on Saturday, and the Corvettes were out in full force. All Corvette generations were represented, and the quality of the cars was outstanding. In total, each participant received an event t-shirt, a goodie bag, lunch for two catered by Wobbly Boots, and a nice attendance prize. Additionally, we held a silent auction and 50/50 drawing. The proceeds will again be used to support our service men and women. Last year, we were able to send 450 “Christmas Stockings for Soldiers” to the 101st Airborne Spartans! Special Troops Battalion serving in Afghanistan. The commanding officer, LTC James Sisemore and his family, attended the event and thanked the Corvette owners for their support with a rousing, heartfelt speech. He also “coined” (a high Military Honor) the Hollanders for their Service and support. (see photo 045, l-r Nancy Hollander, Becky Sisemore, Jay Sisemore, LTC James Sisemore, Ryan Hulett and Gary Hollander). There were over 40 awards presented, including “Best of Show”, honoring our late Corvette Friend, Steve Graves. His wife, Pat was there to present the award along with Ryan Hulett to Mike Craig, and his 1955 Roadster. The local businesses really stepped up and supported our event, as well as nationally know Corvette and automotive retailers. A big “THANK YOU” to Gary and Nancy for a job well done!
