Hope you all have had a productive and fun summer and were able to attend the
State Chapter meetings in Flagstaff. Congratulations to everyone who helped make
that such a great success! I personally can’t remember when I have gotten more
value from any real estate conference – so if you missed it please plan to join us for
the winter meeting!
Linda and I have visited (or have visits scheduled) all of our local chapters. There is
some wonderful work being done at the local level as evidenced by our membership
numbers – 14 new members have been added since last month for a total of 904
members statewide. As our local chapters continue to demonstrate the value of
Women’s Council of REALTORS® we will continue to grow in strength and numbers.
The State Chapter leadership team is dedicated to providing the support and
guidance to the local chapters, the foundation of our organization. That means
individual members as well – no matter how small the problem or how insignificant
you may think the question, please do not hesitate to contact any of us. We also
welcome any suggestions on how we can be of more effective assistance.
Warm Regards,

From The President-Elect
Hi Team AZ,
We had a group of 15 from the great state of Arizona attend the Leadership
Academy in Chicago, Illinois on August 3-5. We had the President Elects from
EVERY chapter in our state attend.
This was the tenth anniversary of Leadership Academy with the largest number
of members attending. There were 292 Local Chapter President Elects and 21
State Chapter President Elects. We also had two state chapter president elects
at the meeting who were part of the faculty.
Here are a few of the items discussed at the academy:
The most important learning tool a chapter can have is the LPPM (Leadership Policy & Procedure
Manual). Every member of your governing board should read this manual completely and
repeatedly. Most of your questions will be answered "in the book".
If you can send all of your line officers to State and National meetings they should all attend different meetings and then bring back and "share" what they learned. If you are funded to attend
a meeting "You Must Attend these Meetings" then report back to you chapter.
Communicate often with your members. Share ideas, give clear directions, don't micro manage,
get members involved in the planning of your chapter's year, listen to your members, give all
the credit...take all the blame, read the LPPM.
A new web site is in the works....watch for more information from National.
Businesswoman of the Year Award - Recognizes members of power and influence. Local chapter
award in 2007 will be recognized at May 2008 awards banquet.

I could go on and on but due to limited space in the newsletter I'll stop now. 2007 has been a
great year for Team AZ with a strong leader leading the way. With the support and guidance from
our 2007 AZ Team
2008 promises to be an interesting, eventful, educating, fun year as well. Come along for the ride
with Team AZ, you'll be glad you did!

From The Regional Vice-President
As I approach my 10 year anniversary as a member of the Women’s Council of
REALTORS®, I beg your indulgence as I reflect back for a few moments on my
WCR “career”.
When I joined the organization back in 1997, I really had no idea what the council
was, except a (primarily) women’s organization, in Scottsdale, that met once a
month to have a meeting, and put on an educational program. I went to a few
meetings, and despite being one of only a few men, I felt very comfortable, and
very welcome. I got involved with a fund-raising event, which I wound up cochairing, and helped contribute to a very successful event. Next thing I knew, I
was nominated, and elected, as President-Elect. Quite frankly, I really had no idea what the organization was all about, or that it was, in fact, part of a very large state and national organization. The
Leadership Academy I attended, in summer of 1999, was my first exposure to the National
“perspective”. I met close to 200 President-Elects from across the country, and began to realize the
scope of how significant a force Women’s Council was.
Flash forward.... After serving on the local level, I have been honored to serve on the state, regional
and national levels, on various committees, and in many leadership positions. What I have come to
realize... after ten years... is how blessed I have been to be part of such a great group of
professional, educated, progressive, caring people. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever
expected to get such tremendous satisfaction from my involvement, but I have.
If YOU are a member who has not yet joined a committee, or gotten involved, I implore you to do so!
If you want to derive the benefits from Women’s Council, you have to GIVE... before you can GET. Although I have already gotten so much from WCR, I never stop trying to give. My personal mission is
to contribute my energies, experience and my male perspective, to make this the BEST women’s
organization in the country.
As State Governor for 2008, along with Sindy Ready, we will be traveling to all of the chapters to help
however we can. We, along with the entire state team... TEAM AZ... are committed to helping all of
the local chapters thrive.
As much as I have enjoyed the last ten years with Women’s Council of REALTORS®, I look forward to
my next ten, and hope many of you will be involved over that period as well, to make this an even
greater organization, and to help you grow professionally and personally!

Chapter President
It's been a very interesting year so far. We are
starting to get it all together just in time for our
2008 Nomination of officers! We will be voting
on new slate of officers at our September
Business Resource Meeting.
We did find a Ways and Means Chairperson,
Cindy Edger, to pull our Holiday Boutique
together in December. The holiday Boutique
will be Saturday 1st with at least 15 tables of
local arts & crafts. This is an all day event.
We had 4 new members installed at our August
Business Resource Meeting and have 3 more to
install at out September meeting!!! I only see
one way to go here with our membership and
it's up, up, up!!!!
We've had great speakers...our new CEO of our
local MLS, Jack Best, spoke to us in July and the
Mayor of Bullhead City, Jack Hakim, spoke at
our August meeting. We had a great
showing...34 members and guests!
Plus a very successful education class seminar,
'Technology-Tablets, Smart Phones & Virtual
Tours' with Joeann Fossland was held on August
13th!! It was a joint effort put together with the
Lake Havasu Chapter.
We hope to do many
more classes together in the up coming year!

in cooperation with Marci Sanders, Glenda
Scott has emailed the information about our

be very informative! Cost for lunch and speaker

The Flagstaff WCR Chapter was elated to
host the Night Out for the WCR State
Meeting August 14-15. What a great event!
We had a Ho-down at the Kilted Kat with
great music and food. There was a silent
auction to benefit the State as well as one to
benefit the Flagstaff Chapter. Our chapter
made money on that as well as a raffle for
$200 cash!
Thank you to all that were able to attend!
We had a wonderful turnout--somewhere
between 95 and 100 people. Lots of great
breakouts and networking. And thank you
for choosing Flagstaff as the first time
location for the Summer Meeting, we would
love to have the opportunity to host again
in the future! It took a great team effort and
I’d like to thank everyone who helped with
not only the event itself, but with the raffle,
registration and planning, thank you!!
I got the wonderful chance to attend the
Leadership Academy in Chicago at the
beginning of August. It was a tremendous event
and lots of networking was accomplished!!

NATIONAL WCR CHAPTER
OF THE YEAR
Julia McDonnell,
Chapter President
What a sizzling summer we’ve had! Our
meetings have been filled with excitement and
high energy, great programs and numerous
guests who are joining the fun of WCR and
helping our chapter grow.
Our summer started with a ‘wildly’ successful
‘Wild Orchid Nights’ Fashion Show chaired by
Kim Rothacher. We were honored to have state
dignitaries,
President
Sindy
Ready
and
Governors Melinda Barry and Linda Berg join us
for the evening.
Our 2nd Anniversary of being chartered was
celebrated during our July meeting
with
Anniversary Cheese Cake complete with candles
and song!
We have added two new prize drawings to the
excitement and fun of our meetings --one just
for guests and another one just for members
who bring guests. And so far, the ‘Queen’ has
managed to elude the draw, increasing the ‘pot’
as well as the anticipation (and sales of tickets)!
Programs have included ‘Alphabet Soup’ from
State president Sindy Ready, ‘The Changing
Mortgage Market – Have Courage!’ by Gary
Ardesson of Mohave State Bank, and ‘Your
Future Told in 30 minutes or Less’ presented by
Gary Kellogg of Partners for Economic
Development.
Bullhead City Area Chapter joined us in
successfully co-sponsoring Joeann Fossland’s
Technologies class and ePro Introduction. We
are looking forward to joining the Bullhead
group for other events.
Members who attended the Wealth Building
Summit in Newport Beach returned with great
wealth building tips and ideas for programs,
seminars, and networking topics as well as
discovering
that
wealth-building
includes
friendships.
Charter
member
and
Education/Program
Committee chair, Judi Harris, graciously opened
her Flagstaff home for chapter use during the
State meeting, providing a lovely ‘retreat’ and
comfortable accommodations as well as another
great opportunity to build stronger bonds
within the chapter.
And now we head into the final stretch with
elections, fun fall events and more great
programs. Our nominating committee has been
very successful in filling the ballot with a slate
of eager and well qualified candidates. Our first
fall event is an International Wine and Beer
Tasting Festival scheduled for September 12 at
Windsor Square. Looking forward to holidays,
we are excited about our Santa’s Helpers
Shopping Spree on December 6 which will be
open in the afternoon for ladies only and in the
evening for gentlemen only. Children will have a
special area for their own shopping and visiting
Santa. Then it will be the installation of another
great leadership team and moving right on into
2008!!
Norwest Valley Chapter
Vicki Cleman,
Chapter President
Greetings from the Northwest Valley,
The Northwest Valley Chapter is doing GREAT!
We have had a busy and exciting summer in the
Northwest Valley with a good calendar of events
that should last us to the end of the year.
September will be a busy month for us. Our
chapter is teaming up with the West Maricopa
Association of REALTORS for a ZipForms class
which will be taught by our very own Patricia
Fox. We will also be having our Annual Golf
Tournament at Arrowhead Country Club and a
terrific speaker from the Glendale Police
Department on REALTOR Safety at our Business
Opportunity Meeting.
We are thrilled to be working with the Phoenix
chapter for an exciting new class in October on
“Taking Your Business to the Next Level” Look
for more information in the next month.
October also brings our Annual Member
Appreciation Picnic, which is always a fun time
to get together with our chapter members and
friends.
Patricia Fox has been getting ready to take on
the job of President in 2008. And all I can say is
that she is “Ready” and will be an excellent one!
Phoenix Chapter
Lody Cooper,
Chapter President
WOW. We are having a great year!
The summer conference in Flagstaff was
wonderful. The class on ethics is one of the
best I have ever taken. The Flagstaff chapter
did an outstanding job with their entertainment.
Kudos to the State.
Sierra Vista/Cochise Chapter
Our chapter is off and running with producing
our 20th Annual Fashion Show being held at the
J. W. Marriott on Oct. 4, 2007.
Our event
coordinator Doris Goetz is doing a great job
getting all of the under lining work done.
Tausha Fournier, our Fashion Show Chair is
doing a phenomenal job leading the way and
making sure all of the details are looked after.
Trisha LeHane is handling our Silent Auction
and is coordinating with Doris on that. Joan
Stemspki is looking after our ticket sales.
Please call these ladies if you have a silent
auction item or would like to attend our Fashion
Show.

Carolyn Cronin,
Chapter President
Heading into the last quarter of the 2007 and
looking back at everything our Chapter has
accomplished throughout the year has been
incredible!
To name a few events that were fun and
exciting was our Annual Realtor Expo in March,
our April Fashion Show with Terri Bowersock,
Terri’s Consignment Furniture as our Emcee,
Quarterly Wine Tasting Mixers, Wealth Creation
Education Workshops, Sunshine Acres Ice Cream
Social in July; and last but certainly not least,
our Monthly Resource Meetings.
We were
honored and privileged to have some awesome
speakers and every year we have a “Top
Producer Panel” for a meeting as well as “Meet
the SEVRAR (our Southeast Realtor Assn)
Candidates” running for office for next year.
On a professional as well as a personal note I
need to say the best time spent as a Chapter
President this year was traveling to the WCR
Conferences & Meetings.
Starting out with the Mega-Networking
Conference in Florida, Mid-Year Meeting, in
Washington, D.C., Women’s Wealth Building
Summit in Newport Beach, our State Meeting in
Flagstaff last month, and to top it off our
Annual Conference in Las Vegas. I feel like I
have been living in and out of a suitcase,
however; I love to travel and what I have learned
in leadership skills and a tremendous amount of
networking, it was well worth the efforts.
Mark your calendars and I would like to see a
great turnout for a PMN Class scheduled in Casa
Grande, Arizona on October 12th! The Tucson
Chapter and our Chapter are jointly
Sponsoring this Class. Feel free to visit our
website at http://www.sevwcr.org for more
details on this class as well as other remaining
events for 2007! We are sponsoring a CRB
Class for Brokers in January, 2008 if interested!
I look forward to seeing most of you in
November and until then “Connect with Me, I
Care” if you have any questions or you would
like to just say hello! Also, I love Referrals for
the Southeast Valley so please remember me!
Superstition Chapter
Pam Race,
Chapter President
June was our 3rd Annual Casino night held at
SEVRAR's meeting room instead of a monthly
meeting. We had special singing appearance by
ELVIS which was a BIG hit. Our silent auction
had good results and everyone had a good time!
Our attendance was down, so we have decided
our next casino night will go back to having it in
the fall and will be October 2008...see you there
along with Elvis!
July was awesome with a handbag auction, with
our special guest, "Bag Lady"Kathy Landis to
assist after we had an informative meeting with
Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce, Rayna
Paul, who informed us with up do date
information about the city that most of us had
no idea of and learned a lot from her.
July our President attend the Wealth Summit and
shared the information with membership with
handouts and information she got there...it was
a worthy trip for sure!
August took our President-Elect to Leadership in
Chicago and got her ready for the fall and next
year.4 our of 5 board members made it to
Flagstaff for the summer state meeting, which
was fun because it's not that often that we all
get to go to these meetings and we NOW want
to make sure ALL officers go to ALL state
meetings!

News from the Tucson Chapter
First let me say thank you to the Flagstaff
chapter for their hospitality this summer. We
really enjoyed the instructors and speakers at
the state meetings. Congratulations to Sindy
Ready and her team for a well planned event.
We look forward to hosting the 2008 Regional
meeting in Tucson and promise to deliver a first
class event. The date will be announced soon.
The Tucson Association of REALTORS® will be
hosting the 2008 EXPO and the theme is Game
Shows. The visitors at the WCR booth will be
playing real estate Jeopardy. If you are in
Tucson on September 19th, this event is not to
be missed.
Our biggest fundraiser is our dessert auction
and that takes place on Wednesday September
26, 2007 at Skyline Country Club. We have sold
100 tickets already! We also have a raffle,
dinner for four and a one night stay for two
couples at La Paloma. We hope to raise an
additional $ 10,000.00.
Our community has been greatly impacted by
the closure of a major mortgage company and
our hearts go out to the families affected by this
unfortunate situation. I am happy to report that
many companies in town have provided
employment opportunities for these displaced
workers.
My theme this year is “A Ticket to Ride” and
what a ride I am having. I need to say thank
you to the members of the Tucson Chapter who
jumped on board with me.
We have had
wonderful programs, superb attendance and a
rise in membership.
Thank you to the members who attend our
classes and events, my board for their
dedication and all the friends we have in the
chapters around the state.
We are grateful to our state leaders for
providing us additional funds to send three
members to a state or national meeting. What a
great idea!
If you want to know what is happening in the
Tucson chapter, visit our website at

White Mountains Chapter
Yvonne Coelet,
Chapter President
A
Cool White Mountain Hello!
Our chapter recently had a meeting where we
had our Association Executive give us some statistics concerning our local REALTOR® Association. Our White Mountain area has 970 members which is almost double our membership
from December 2005. We have over 4,770 listings which is a 68% increase over last year. We
also learned that of the 239 offices that do
business up here half call the White Mountains
home and the other half are from out of the
area. Wow!
These numbers really make you take a hard
look at your business. With all the media
declaring the fall of many mortgage companies
and how it is affecting the real estate market,
it’s a wonder anyone wants to be buying
anything at all. Add to that the fact that you
are competing with 969 other REALTORS® for
those few buyers and it makes you wonder,
“Why am I doing this?”
We do this because we are more knowledgeable
and professional because of our involvement
with the Women’s Council of Realtors®. We
offer our membership education and resources
that help us to raise the bar on service and
standards. We are able to attend meetings like
our State Conference in Flagstaff that offered
information and resources to help us stand out
and be recognized.

When reviewing the 2008
Arizona State WCR travel budget
a LPC requested a clarification of
the line of travel to Washington,
DC for the AZ State President/
President-Elect/Secretary/Treasurer/Governors
& MOY…..What is MOY? MOY = Member of the
Year and guess what that is ME. How lucky can
one person be????
It has been both an honor and a privilege to be
the 2006 Member of the Year and what makes
winning this award so very is fact that I am an
affiliate. Thank you to Karen Kay and her wonderful committee. It hardly seems possible, but
2007 will be over in three and half months and
my committee and I will have to pick the 2007
MOY. The new MOY will be announced at the
AZ State WCR Installation Dinner in November.
My committee and I need your help selecting
the 2007 MOY. My committee consists of past
MOY winners, Karen Kay, Joeann Fossland, and
Kathy Landis.
Review the MOY qualifications below and if you
have a name to submit for this prestigious
award, please complete the nomination form
on the state chapter website and fax to 480383-6123.
Eligible Nominees:
1. Must be a current member of National WCR
2. Should be REALTOR®, REALTOR®-Associate
or National affiliate for a minimum of five
consecutive years.
3. Shall be those individuals selected for recognition by the Local Chapter or State Chapter.
To avoid any possibility of this award automatically to a current Local or State Officer,
these individuals shall be ineligible to
receive the award during or within one year
after the term of office. This does preclude
past presidents or other officers from receiving the award.
Again, it has been my pleasure to represent Arizona as the 2006 Member of the Year. All I can
say….Get involved and you to could be the MOY
one year!!
CALLING ALL OFFICERS…IT’S TIME TO PLAN FOR SUCCESS!
It’s time to plan for next year!!! The reason Team AZ is so successful is because you ALL are
doing a great job planning at the Chapter Level! You all are doing an excellent job!
Chapter Presidents and President-Elects and Chapter officers…a friendly word of advise: Remember, it is important, to the success of your Chapter and your transition from 2007 to 2008 leadership teams, to work together for the rest of the year as one TEAM. As a team, you should celebrate this
year’s successes and plan together for the future.
Presidents: Remember, that your President-Elects have just gotten back from Leadership Academy and are
excited to plan for next year. Now is the time to support them with this process and help them plan! It is
exciting to see what the future will bring!
President-Elects: Remember to respect your Presidents, we know you are excited about planning your
year…just don’t forget to include your 2007 President in your planning and decision making process!
Officer Teams: Work together to plan for next year and into the future! Plan out 1…2…-3…5 years! Having
a Chapter 3 to 5 year plan is a great team goal!
This is a true team effort! At the State level, we are following our own advise to make our 2007-2008 transition as smooth as possible! We believe that it is not the end or beginning of anyone’s year…just a continuation of the Journey!
Your success is our State TEAM AZ Success! Let us know how we can help you!
The Journey Continues!
