town of Ridgefield leases the land to Founders Hall
Foundation. The Foundation has an agreement with
the town to run Founders Hall through 2022, with the
option for future extensions. With continued support
from generous people like you, the Foundation will
run Founders Hall for generations to come.

Dear Friends,
What a year of growth for Founders Hall! We welcomed our 4,805th member,
and the number of people actively using Founders Hall grew to over 3,300.
During our extraordinarily busy fall semester, an average of 250 members walked through our doors each day.
Fortunately, support for Founders Hall grew in 2014 as well. The number of donors and the total amount they gave
were both higher than ever before. Contributions from both members and the broader community allowed us to
strengthen our academic, fitness and social programs to meet growing demand.
If you are a new or long-time supporter, thank you for your generosity. Founders Hall, with all of its life-changing
opportunities, would not be here without you. If you are not yet a donor, this is the time to become one.
Demand for dynamic programs will continue to grow. America is aging as birth rates decline and people live longer.
As baby boomers age in uncertain economic times, they are changing the nature of retirement by working longer,
working part-time, or engaging in ‘encore’ careers. Our challenge will be to continue meeting the needs of existing
members while adapting to the needs of new ones.
With that in mind, we spent much of 2014 planning for how best to keep Founders Hall vital over the next ten, twenty
and thirty years. We identified and targeted initiatives for 2015 and beyond that will help us captivate both existing and
new members with innovative programming. This will mean some exciting changes in the coming years.
Of course, we can meet the needs of this generation and the next only with your steadfast support. We hope you will
invest in Founders Hall. It’s an investment that allows you and your neighbors – regardless of income – to age with
extraordinary opportunities for ongoing education, physical fitness, camaraderie and joy.

Dollars weren’t the only green donations
in 2014. A group of passionate gardeners
formed a Garden Club to learn from each
other as they revamped the back gardens
and blueberry beds. These members
generously gave their expertise and energy,
and dug deeply for donations of bulbs,
plants, shrubs and even a tree. The fruits
and flowers of their labors are gifts that
will bloom far beyond 2014.

and contemporary art in the new Joy of
Looking at Art class. Its objective is to take
the mystique out and put the motion into
art appreciation. Students traveled to the
Guggenheim Museum, Storm King Arts
Center, Olana Historic Site and Thomas

After 12 years of service, John Patrick has retired from our
Board of Directors. John is a visionary who consistently
encouraged us to be forward thinking, especially regarding
technology. We are extremely grateful for his steadfast
support, dedication, guidance and stewardship.
Lori Berisford is new to our Board of Directors but a longtime friend to Founders Hall through her fundraising work
on the Wreath Festival and Wine, Cheese & Accessories.
Retired from a 20-year career in human resources at Pepsi
Bottling Group, Lori also serves on the boards of SPHERE,
Ridgefield Little League and the Women’s Center.
Jenn Kubick joined our Board of Directors through her
efforts on Battle of the Chefs. A former vice president
at Cendant Mobility, Jenn is currently president of the
Women’s Committee for Ridgefield Community Center/
Lounsbury House and a member of the Ridgefield
Academy Parent Association Board.
Rudy Ruggles, a long-time sponsor of our academic
programs, has moved from our Advisory Board to our
Board of Directors. Retired from a career as a physicist and
in intelligence, Rudy is chairman of Danbury Hospital’s
Research Advisory Council and adjunct professor at the
J. Craig Vetner Institute in genomic medicine. He serves
on the boards of Danbury Hospital, Hord Foundation
and Ridgefield’s Coalition Against Substance Abuse.
