Post Tour Sundowner
With many strong friendships made over
the weeks that passengers send together
on tour we can often find ourselves
thinking of past travelling companions
well into the weeks after a tour. Jacinta
decided it was time to get the groups back
together for a catch up after the tour to
share photos and memories. Here is a few
pictures from this recent Sundowner.
Head to Head Crossing the Savannah
Our two 17 Day Savannah
Tours crossed over on the 5th
of July just inside the Northern
Territory at Timber Creek. The
40+ passengers and 4 staff were
quick to catch up and swap
stories before they continued
off on their adventure.
All Around The Country
Mount Augustus Tourist Park
Continuing our introduction to the great friends we work with around
the country. We move to central WA and a place that we have been
enjoying since 1983 and are now the only coach operator that regularly
visits.
Cathy Sohler & Brian Neho, Mount Augustus Tourist Park, Gascoyne WA
Although born in Switzerland and NZ, Cathy and Brian are “dinky di
Aussies” with a fascination for out of the way Australian places.
Cathy developed a passion for the hospitality industry while working her way through uni and as a result, after many years
building a career in education, she decided to combine this passion with a love of travelling Australia by seeking work in
remote tourist ventures. As a Boilermaker Welder Brian worked mainly in the Northern Territory and outback Queensland
often on remote infrastructural projects before happily being persuaded to down tools and hit the road following a new
career path with Cathy.
They both enjoyed working and living in almost every state of Australia, before arriving at Mt Augustus in early 2014.
“The amazing richness of outback colours, bright red dirt, a massive glowing rock, blue blue skies, a rainbow
of wild flowers and the cacophony of birds, cast its spell on us and we’ve been here ever since. It really is
extraordinary outback country, which we really enjoy sharing with the interesting variety of people who visit.”
The Station has had 70mm of rain in the last 7 days shutting down all roads in and out of the area. This is a great amount of
rain at a perfect time of year for the Wildflowers of the Gascoyne to have an amazing year.
To visit Cathy & Brian and enjoy the Spring Wildflowers have a look at the following tours;
• 5 Day Mount Augustus & Walga Rock - 27th August, Page 9
• 8 Day Mount Augustus, Exmouth & Coral Coast - 4th September, Page 10

Code-named Potshot, the spartan base was also developed as an advanced base and rest camp for submariners. Z Special

operation with the sinking of seven Japanese Ships in Singapore Harbour and the loss of no Allied lives.
Nowadays Exmouth is using its natural beauty to
draw visitors to the Cape. The Cape Range National
Park makes up a large portion of the Cape and boasts
sheer cliffs on the east side with pristine streams
running into the ocean on the west. Out in the ocean
the beauty continues with Australia’s largest fringing
coral reef, Ningaloo Reef, listed on the World Heritage
List for its; “interconnected ocean and arid coast form
