The girls heard a beautiful poem, written by Tova Lavin (see below), and those without uniform infractions enjoyed a donut at the end of the day. Dress to Gain The way we dress changes how we act And the way people think of you. Our beauty can be our greatest gift, but can be our biggest struggle too. When things are holy, like a mezuzah, they are covered by a special case. As daughters of Hashem, we should be like that too; We should be elegant and have grace. This month we’re cleaning up what we wear, to see k our beauty from inside. We’re giving out necklaces to show, as princesses, we should have pride. Correction: The Dvar Torah at the Grade 10 Melave Malka was given by Mira Goldstein. We apologize for the error. Our school recently got an honourable mention in the MISHMERES MONTHLY newsletter. Our Mishmeres participants shared great tips on including others, “leaving no one out in the rain.” Tips included: calling a girl before a school function to tell her you want her to come, picking someone up on your way to Shul on Shabbos, and not discussing topics that exclude others in the group. Mishmeres has also incorporated a MACHSOM L’FI into our daily schedule. Every day at 11:00 (and all day too, of course), Tiferes is focusing on our words to ensure that no לשון הרעis spoken. Each day’s Machsom L’fi can be dedicated to the memory of a loved one or for a רפואה שלמה. A GAME & PIZZA NIGHT to benefit Tomchei Shabbos was held at the home of Daniella Philips. Organized by our chessed heads, Daniella Philips and Avigayil Rosenberg, the program included a fun game of Bingo, delicious מלוה מלכה, and a chance to help this very important organization. ZICHRON BINYAMIN CHARITY FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization established to raise money for Toronto Jewish Schools. When donating, please consider specifying Tiferes Bais Yaakov as the school you would like your donation to assist. Mrs. Kleinman spoke about sensitivity to others, providing examples from the Torah to exemplify just how far we have to go to avoid unintentionally hurting others. Tiferes alumni attended a shiur by Rabbi Akiva Tatz at the home of Mrs. B. Koenig. Rabbi Tatz spoke about the concepts of בחירהand השגחהand how one can affect the other. An ALUMNI GET-TOGETHER was held in ירושליםduring חנוכה, at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Kalfa, parents of Tiferes alumni Tehila and Avigial. The ALUMNI TRIVIA NIGHT will be this מוצש״ק, January 16th.
