March 2013 - Banning Chamber of Commerce
From the Desk of
Don Robinson, Executive Director
Spring Cleaning has begun at the Banning Chamber office.
Cleaning out and throwing out old items has begun and a fresh coat of paint is going on in
the chamber offices. It has been six years, so it is time to put the professional look back
into the office spaces.
The board room has been painted and decorated and on March 4th will be rented to a legal firm for day use. A
computer and projector have been added for power point presentations. Both donated. Members can come in and
view their ads or directory information on the big screen and work with Suzanna to update and review them.
We now have an interactive member directory on our website. People can look on line at our directory, find an ad
and click on it to go directly to the businesses website. We have also taken our friends count on facebook from
2700 to 3200 in the last two months. Brochures, phone books, directories, the green sheet and magazines are
placed outside the chamber office door for passersby to pick up. We are restocking these racks 2 to 3 times per day
as we hand out information to the community.
The chamber now has over 300 active members and is continuing to grow daily. New members receive a
“Member’s Toolkit” to explain all the benefits of being a chamber member. Our monthly E-newsletter is put out
on “Constant Contact” a free service to the chamber, but also an opportunity for your business to connect to the
service with a discount provided by signing up through the chamber. See Suzanna for information on this. You
can also receive great discounts through Office Depot by going through the chamber and the chamber receives a
royalty for everything you purchase at office depot to help our budget.

By texting 90210 and inputting bngchamber you will be added to our text message alert system that will let you
know when events are coming up like ribbon cuttings, ground breakings or mixers.
A “Government Affairs” wall has been created in the lobby that includes information about our pass area
legislators and information on how to contact them. Each one is supplying information to distribute to residents
and businesses in the pass area. The wall includes information from WRCOG (Western Regional Conference of
Governments) and SCAG (Southern California Association of Governments). Both very useful information
covering the local region and Southern California.
Reminder to check out the pass area calendar that is now the same for the Banning and Beaumont Chambers, and
Banning and Beaumont city events. Contact Suzanna to have dates added to the calendar for your events. Come
on down to the chamber office at 60 E. Ramsey and look around. Great opportunities for fun things to do and
great dining deals.
