play breaks which delivered strong messages around
anti-bullying.
Big thanks to Mrs Croker for her efforts in organising the
South team in the trying conditions and to Bec Leiper for
volunteering to wash the wet and muddy school running
tops.
We also had senior students Jett Liu, Tom Blake, Raymond
Murphy, Charlie Hillier and Miller Fitzpatrick giving up their
lunchtime play to umpire football matches, ensuring the
games ran smoothly.
Contributing to others is a vital component of great
leadership and it was very pleasing to see this occurring
within our school.
Platinum Morning Tea
With the large number of students in our school
consistently displaying a positive attitude and a strong work
ethic, it is not surprising to have so many children qualify
for a platinum award this semester.
The special Platinum morning tea will be held on
Wednesday 22nd June in our hall. Invitations to attend the
Semester 1 ceremony will be issued next week.
Fishing 4 Friends Outing
Our school Fishing 4 Friends groups are eagerly looking
forward to their first session, next Tuesday 14th June.
Resilience - Your Attitude
Centuries ago Confucius stated ’Attitude is a little thing that
makes a big difference’.
Much of the research into resilience clearly demonstrates
that the attitude which we hold will often ultimately
determine our capacity for resilience. This is because our
attitude determines our approach to life, determines our
relationship with people and is often the only difference
between success and failure, not only in our work but often
in life in general.
Recent research into organisational behaviour has shown
that the attitude at the beginning of a task will often effect
the outcome more than anything else.
POSITIVE ATTITUDE = INCREASED RESILIENCE!

learn the intricate techniques required to tie tackle
appropriately on their fishing line.

Once our rivers are flowing freely, I am sure there will be
many ’big catches’ made.
Poppy’s Quiz
Great to see so many students testing their punctuation
skills in Poppy’s Quiz last week.
Congratulations to eventual winners, Chase Bartlett,
Abbey Doncon and Matthew Caruso.
The quiz this week will again focus on aspects of
punctuation, so don’t forget to have your entries in by
Friday.

Tony Lockett Gala Day
The Deni South AFL team enjoyed a very successful day
at the Tony Lockett Knockout Gala Day last Tuesday. The
boys were well led by senior players Raymond Murphy,
Jett Liu, Tom Blake and Haydn Mowat. Our coach Mr
Fitzpatrick was also extremely impressed with how our
younger players performed throughout the day. Overall a
great team effort with everyone contributing.
Netball
Congratulations to our school netball team who won a
tight tussle against Deni North last Tuesday in Round 2 of
the State Netball Knockout competition. The final score
was 12 to 8.
The girls will now play the winner of the Finley P.S v
Berrigan P.S clash at a date to be announced. Go South!
Big thanks to Mr Bulmer and Mr Fitzpatrick for coaching
and organising the boys, DHS students for a superb job of
umpiring and the Deni Rovers FNC for the use of their
facilities.
