CAISTOR RUNNING CLUB – BEGINNERS COURSE
We are pleased to invite you to our 8 Week Get Started Running Course. This starts on
Tuesday 13th March, and will on Tuesday and/or Thursday nights for the next 8 weeks.
No experience is necessary. We aim to start from scratch and gradually build up over the 8
weeks.
The course is free and very relaxed. You do not have to attend every session – we will be
pleased to see you when you can make it.

STARTS Tuesday 13th March 2012
This course is FREE and aimed at absolute beginners, where we aim to
start from scratch and have you jogging for a full
30 minutes by the end of 8 weeks.
Week 1 Brisk Walk / Jog - 1 minute
Walk - 90 seconds (which we then repeat 8 times)
Week 2 Jog - 2 minutes
Walk - 1 minute (repeat x 7)
By Week 4 Jog - 5 minutes
Walk - 2 minutes (repeat x 4)
By Week 7 Jog - 15 minutes
Walk - 1 minute (repeat x 2)
We will be holding the course at 6:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday
nights, at the Sports and Social Club, off Brigg Road in
Caistor. All the running will take place around the football and cricket
pitches at the Club.
The idea is that you do the week’s workout three times during the week:
once on Tuesday, again on Thursday and finally
the third in your own time. But it’s fine if you cannot make all the
sessions or can only attend one night.
Everyone will be given the complete plan at the beginning, so you can
mark off the sessions whenever you are able to do
them. On completing the course, you will be more than fit enough to
take part in our regular Tuesday Club night should
you wish to do so.
Everyone who attends at least one session each week will receive a
Certificate upon completion of the course.
Although originally set up last April as an informal group, Caistor
Running Club has been so successful that we now have
over 50 members, and have recently constituted ourselves as a club,
with the aim that "we run for fun". Our approach is
of inclusion and informality, with an equal number of male/female
members, across a wide range of ages. We are not
trained to provide courses and/or training, and will only be supporting
your own endeavours. On your first night we will
ask you to complete an application form for the course, confirming that
you are medically fit to take part, and do so at
your own risk.
Children
Children 16-17 must have their application counter-signed by a
parent/guardian.
Children 12-15 must have their application counter-signed by a
parent/guardian and be accompanied at workouts by a
parent/guardian or responsible adult.

This new production of Stephen Lowe’s critically acclaimed adaptation of
Robert Tressell’s 1914 classic book, has been playing to enthusiastic
audiences around the country. “Witty, fast-paced and hard-hitting … often
hilarious”, said Dan Glazebrook in the Morning Star.
The play shares with its audience a year in the life of a group of painters and
decorators, as they renovate a three-storey town house for Mayor Sweater. It
traces their struggle for survival in a complacent and stagnating Edwardian
England. These workers are the "philanthropists" who throw themselves into
back-breaking work for poverty wages in order to generate profit for their
masters.
Performed as a two-hander, the play includes the"The Great Money Trick" the simplest demonstration of capitalist crisis yet performed.
The cast are Rodney Matthew who joins the production straight off the back of
Jerusalem in the West End ~ and Neil Gore of Song of Singapore (Chichester
Festival Theatre and the West End). Together they use songs of the period,
comedy routines and characterization to recreate vividly the spirit and clarity
of the political message.

Moor Lane off North Kelsey Road in your Caistor Area Diary.
The cafe currently opens from Tuesday to Thursday from 11am until
6.30pm,11 am until late on Friday and from 9am until 4.30 pm on Saturday
and Sunday. A range of hot and cold meals and refreshments, includng a
Specials Board is on offer, together with a range of breakfast options. Sunday
lunch including a choice of roast meat and vegetarian options is served
between 12 and 3 pm. The main meal is priced at £6.95 or two main meals for
£12 and starters and sweets are also available.
On most Fridays an equestrian competition night is held at the Centre and this
week (9th March) there is a show jumping competition. The cafe offers a
Friday night event special which this week will be home made beef stew and
dumplings at £4.50p Visitors will be able to eat their meal whilst being able to
watch the competition, although you do not need to have an interest in horses
to take advantage of the cafe facilities.
A Mothers Day special meal will be offered on Sunday the 18 March at the
usual Sunday prices including a small present for Mum. Booking is advisable

CRIMINAL DAMAGE – CAISTOR
An incident of criminal damage occurred at the Crocosmia Gardens at the
Town Hall car park, Caistor. Police conducted investigations and a local
youth was found to be responsible. All parties agreed to resolve the issue by
Restorative Resolution and the youth will pay £35.00 costs for the damage
caused and draft a written apology to the victims.

BEST KEPT TOWN/VILLAGE
Celebrating 50 years of Lincolnshire’s Best Kept Villages and Small Market
Towns
This year is the 50th anniversary of County’s Best Kept Villages and Small
Towns competition.
The competition has grown over the years to now represent more than 125
communities in five categories based on population size. It encourages
communities to take pride in their surroundings and work together to raise
local environmental standards. Communities are judged on factor such as
Green Spaces, Community Buildings and Good Environmental Practice.
The competition is run by Community Lincs in Partnership with CPRE and
sponsorship from the County and District Councils. It gives me great
pleasure to announce that Pennells Garden Centres, who have been involved
with the competition since 1964, are awarding a special prize this year to the
highest scoring community taken from our records which go back to 1962.
The winning community will be announced in the Autumn.
This year there is a new category to celebrate the 50th Anniversary, the shops
in the larger communities will have the opportunity to get involved and help
their community to gain points and win a £200 voucher for floral displays in
their community, information about this will be in the entry pack and on our
web-site. The category is sponsored by the Federation of Small Business’s
Real-Life Entrepreneurs project.

BUSES
The service bus 3 , Grimsby/Lincoln will move to new timetable in April
The County Council are still negotiating
The current timetable is being subsidised by Stagecoach as a cost of £333
per day , best part £104 thousand per year.
Stagecoach are intending to reduce the current hourly service to 5 a day,
losing late morning & early afternoon buses .
Tesco are apparently intending to reduce their Caistor/Brigg free bus. This
was introduced when Caistor had no supermarket , since the new Coop
opened demand has apparently reduced for the bus.
