the many years she has devoted

Carolyn is retiring from the

The Show Must Go On!! That’s a show
biz saying, and it has held true in many
instances at JLT.
In 1966, Nancy Welshofer, playing the
role of Mother Superior in The Sound of
Music, developed a severe throat infection and had to be replaced by Helen
Aikens three days before opening night.
In 1978 Carolyn McGowan came in 9
days before the opening of God’s Favorite, and again in 1984 replaced a lead role
in Chicago with less than two weeks to
learn dialogue and music. In one production Duane Hunt pinched-hit for Charles
Clinton without a rehearsal. In that same
play, William Brady, speech teacher at
North Junior High, had to replace John
Newman, who was called out of town unexpectedly. Ed Johnson was injured by a
fall from a ladder and production manager
Bill Lough took his part. In 1963 Gordon
Lohr was directing Oklahoma, gave the
pre-show pep talk, ending with “Breaka-Leg”. Lorene Irvine, playing Aunt Eller,
stepped off a riser, severely sprained her
ankle—went on with the show.
Our JLT history is precious. The past
almost 70 years have laid a solid foundation on which we must keep building.
With the help and support of our patrons
and the community we will continue this
tradition
Any stories or remembrances you may
have will be greatly appreciated. Call me

That’s right! The same throw-back
to the 1940s, that same left foot in the
gumshoe we know and love from
Three Murders and It’s Only Monday! is
at it again! This time, he’s posing as a
golf-playing psychiatrist at the Shady
Meadows Country Club. “A place where
old polyester goes to die,” says Harry,
after the club members start dropping
like divots on the duffer’s course.
Recreating the role of Harry
Monday will be Todd Loudis, with
assistance from a retinue of zany characters: a prima donna club president (Jim
Goff), a naive supervisor (Becky Seidl), an
astrological moonchild (Carolyn Fortson)
and, yes, even someone passing herself off
as the twin of a missing club member
(Karen Eckhardt). Throw in a sultry
hard-hearted dame (Karen Lasater), a
Wall Street ad man (Daniel Kroll) and
a surly police sergeant (Jim Lile), plus a
few surprise guests and you have more
suspects and clues than you can shake a
stick at!
Chet has put together another evening
of fast-paced dialogue, thunderstorms and
blackouts, mix-ups, mishaps and mayhem, and a
few red herrings to keep
you on your toes. Don’t
miss this one. This show
is suitable for children.
