2015 SALES
INVESTMENT IN CORPORATE GROWTH
In 2015, the HTI Group generated a consolidated sales of 726 million euros. Worldwide, 59
ropeway systems and 30 wind turbines were
installed; in addition, 604 snow groomers and
tracked utility vehicles and 2,000 snow guns
were delivered.
A total of 11,8 million euros were invested in
2015 with the aim of building up strategic and
operational capacity, thus ensuring long-term
competitiveness on the global market. A large
proportion of this was used to extend the office
space and production hall at the site in Telfs,

EMPLOYEES: THE BIGGEST SUCCESS
FACTOR
RESEARCH FOR THE ADVANTAGE
Technological advancement is the recipe for
success in our group of companies. This is why
we are constantly investing in research and
development, dedicating 21 million euros to
this cause in 2015. These funds were primarily
used to develop “Symphony”, the new 3S cabin
designed by Pininfarina, and the new LTW90
1.5 MW wind generator, as well as to finalize
the Stage IV/Tier 4 final engine technology. In
the snowmaking systems sector, R&D resources were used for the new Eos lance and the
Titan 2.0 propeller machine. In 2015, the group of companies employed
3,147 staff worldwide. The opportunities it
offers for targeted training and development
make it an attractive employer that is well
equipped to meet the constantly growing challenges of the future.

2015 in retrospect
LEITNER ropeways provided technological
excellence worldwide in all different areas in
2015, ranging from winter sports through to
urban passenger transport in nine countries.
Combining high technology, functionality, efficiency, and unique design, ropeways are an
innovative and environmentally friendly way to
get from A to B. Having pioneered DirectDrive,
LEITNER ropeways is unique in boasting 15
years’ experience with the gearless drive system. DirectDrive offers numerous benefits, from
low consumption and emissions to improved
ride comfort. Fifteen new systems were manufactured out with the innovative drive system in
2015 alone.
The latest projects highlight the increasing trend
toward excellent ride comfort and modern design. With its stylish gondola melodiously chris-
tened “Symphony” designed by Pininfarina,
the most famous vehicle designer in the world,
and with the LEITNER Premium Chair, which
features expertise drawn from the automotive
industry and genuine leather seats, one thing
is certain: LEITNER ropeways leads the way.
Tailored design elements reinforce customers’
branding and communications strategies and
give them a key competitive edge. LEITNER
ropeways sets new standards in technology
and design.

More comfort, and not only round the Sella
Ronda
The Arabba Fly 6-seater chairlift means winter
sports enthusiasts doing the Sella Ronda
can now travel in comfort over the village of
Arabba instead of having to cross it on foot.
Skiers and walkers can now ride to the top of
the 3,000-meter-high Presena Glacier from
the Passo del Tonale and enjoy the panoramic views. The 6-seater La Fraina chairlift in
Alta Badia is equipped with DirectDrive and
provides improved links between La Villa
and San Cassiano. At the Sella Pass, the Piz
Sella 6-seater chairlift has replaced a 2-seater
system. The Jaufen Lift 4-seater chairlift at
the Jaufen Pass features stylish seats, blue
bubbles and the DirectDrive. New ropeways
were put into service in Ponte di Legno and
Campobasso.
The leading ski resort in the world can now
offer guests a level of comfort to match
thanks to the Premium Chair.
The partnership between LEITNER ropeways
and Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel goes back many
years and now has another highlight in the
shape of the CD8C Brunn with DirectDrive. This
is the first system to feature the new LEITNER
Premium Chair, built using state-of-the-art
technology from the automotive industry. Also
new in Kitzbühel is the Bichlalm 2-seater chairlift. The new CD6C Schernthannbahn in Hopfgarten in the Brixental demonstrates significant
improvements. Comfort seats and individual
color schemes with blue bubbles are more than
visual highlights.
DirectDrive and the automatic elevating platform substantially enhance ride comfort for
the guests.

Modern, individual design created
with sustainability in mind
The Sogn Martin–La Siala GD10 gondola lift
in Laax is the perfect example of how sustainability, design, and high technology can be
combined. It features cabins designed by Pininfarina and stations made of wood from Grisons
as well as the innovative DirectDrive. Zermatt
Bergbahnen has also embraced the gearless
drive system. Their new Joscht–Hirli 6-seater
chairlift also features blue bubbles. Patron of
the chairlift is top skier Lara Gut, whose photo
adorns the upholstery. In France, LEITNER
installed a system featuring LeitDrive and
DirectDrive for the private company Les Arcs –
Paradiski (Compagnie des Alpes). The system
can run at 6 meters per second, enabling a
high transport capacity.
Family-friendly and extremely
comfortable
Modern ropeways focus rigorously on comfort and safety, as the CDC6 Zeigerbahn in
St. Blasien on the Feldberg mountain in the
Black Forest amply demonstrates. The features
of this particularly family-friendly ropeway
include an elevating platform that detects the
presence of child passengers and automatically
adjusts the entry height. In addition, the system
has an important interconnection function between the center at the top of the pass and the
installations on the Feldberg. Not only does the
new Poppenberg 8-seater in the Winterberg ski
lift carousel offer a very comfortable ride – its
transport capacity has also been doubled to
4,000 passengers per hour, making it the highest-capacity chairlift in Germany.
High technology at high latitudes
LEITNER has built the first-ever detachable system north of the Arctic Circle at Sweden’s Gällivare ski resort. The CD6 Dundret is the resort’s
principal system and LEITNER’s first installation
in the region. With the CD6 Romme Syd,
long-standing customer Borlänge, near Stockholm, has made a significant improvement to a
key transport link. Its compatriot Vemdalen has
also used LEITNER ropeways for many years,
with its new CD6 Hovde Express now providing
racers with much better training conditions.
In Finland and Norway, LEITNER ropeways
installed a number of new surface lifts.
Comfort padding, seat heating,
and colorful bubbles
One of the most popular ski resorts in the
country, Špindlerův Mlýn in the Giant Mountains, relies on technology and design from
LEITNER ropeways. Its new CD6C Pláň features DirectDrive and spoils passengers with
comfort seats that include seat heating, individual footrests, and blue bubbles. DirectDrive
is also the system of choice in Černá Hora, the
largest Czech ski resort. With its blue bubbles,
black-blue comfort padding and heated seats
the CD6C Hofmanky Express is more than
just pretty to look at. It is the first chairlift in the
Czech Republic to carry winter sports enthusiasts at speeds of 6 meters per second.

The first DirectDrive in the Carpathians
Ski resorts in Eastern Europe are increasingly
turning to modern ropeway technology from
LEITNER ropeways. The GD8 Sinaia gondola
lift in the Furnika Peak Sinaia ski resort is Romania’s first ropeway fitted with DirectDrive and
has significantly boosted capacity at the resort.
Located in the Prahova Valley in the Carpathian
Mountains, Sinaia boasts 22 km of ski slopes
at altitudes of between 880 and 2,000 meters
and is one of the most popular places to ski in
Romania. Building this system was particularly
challenging, especially since the ropeway
crosses a valley about 100 meters deep.
Modern technology for the leading resort
in the country
Skiing is becoming increasingly popular in Bulgaria as well. With over 70 km of ski slopes at
heights of up to 2,000 meters, the southwestern resort of Bansko near the Greek border is
the country’s leading ski area. The infrastructure has seen considerable investment in the
last few years, most recently with the Todorka
6-seater chairlift. It is LEITNER ropeways’ first
system of this sort in the popular ski resort.
Bansko has already hosted several World Cup
races.
Eurasia’s largest urban ropeway
The 10-passenger Yenimahalle gondola lift in
Ankara underlines the importance of urban
systems from LEITNER ropeways in Turkey. It
connects the Sentepe and Yenimahalle areas
of the city with the metro network, taking traffic
off the roads and enhancing people’s quality of
life. The final section of Eurasia’s largest urban
ropeway was put into operation in 2015. In
Denizli, a provincial capital in western Turkey,
locals and visitors can take a new gondola
lift from the city up to a mountain popular for
its panoramic views. Meanwhile, the main
attraction of the new residential and shopping
precinct in Sinpas near Ankara is a year-round
ski slope with special plastic mats and a new
2-seater chairlift.
New horizons for the people in the favelas
With the GD10 Miocable in Santiago de Cali,
Colombia’s third-largest city, LEITNER ropeways has installed another strategically and politically important urban ropeway in the country.
Roughly two kilometers long, the new system
connects Siloé, one of the poorest districts
in the city, with the public transport network,
reducing travel time from 45 minutes to nine.
Poor infrastructure and the vertical distances
between Siloé and the city center had previously posed a great obstacle. The ropeway is
giving locals better access to schools and places of work, opening up new, highly promising
prospects for them.

A tricable gondola lift is also being built in
Zermatt. Scheduled to open by 2018, it will
be the world’s highest 3S gondola lift.
Experiencing a unique level of design and
comfort
Ride comfort is becoming increasingly important to winter sports enthusiasts, a trend that
is set to continue in 2016 with the opening
of many new ropeways. Italy’s first 8-seater
chairlift with the LEITNER Premium Chair will
be built in Ratschings/Alto Adige, and a chairlift
with the Premium Chair was selected for the
Fellhorn in Germany. Two new gondola lifts are
being built in Bellamonte in Val di Fiemme and
Roccaraso in Abruzzo, each with DirectDrive.
Since June 2015 construction has been under
way on the spectacular 3S Eisgratbahn at the
Stubai Glacier. Starting in October 2016, it
will offer considerably more comfort with the

Coming face to face with bears and riding
the waves
More and more tourist attractions are discovering the benefits that ropeways offer as
a transport system. The Cabárceno Nature
Park in Spain is a good example of how efficient transport can be combined with new
attractions. Visitors can glide over the park in
8-seater gondolas while enjoying delights such

sanctuary. In Verona, tourist attractions are
combining tradition with the demands of modern infrastructure. The new inclined elevator at
the historic Castel San Pietro will add to the
appeal of this popular attraction. In Torreón in
northern Mexico, a GD8 gondola lift is under
construction in the city. In 2015, LEITNER
ropeways joined forces with Wavegarden, the
market leader in artificial wave generation, to
develop a system to create the world’s longest
artificial surfing wave using DirectDrive. The first
perfect waves are already rolling at the “Surf
Snowdonia” water park in North Wales. The
first inland surfing facility in the USA is currently
being built in Austin, Texas, and is also powered by DirectDrive.
No traffic jams and lower emissions
Around the world, systems from LEITNER
ropeways do an important job solving traffic
problems in cities. One example can be found
in the Ecatepec district of Mexico City, where
two interlinked 10-passenger gondola lifts are
being built. In Berlin, work is under way on the
1.5 kilometers of ropeway to bring visitors to
the 2017 International Garden Show swiftly to
their destination. A shopping complex is being
built near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia featuring
the 10-passenger Awana Skyway gondola lift,
which will provide a link that is both efficient
and spectacular. The ropeways in Berlin
and Kuala Lumpur will also be major tourist
attractions.

High Alpine DCL4, replacing a 1978 Riblet.
Aspen Snowmass is a longtime partner and
has purchased numerous lifts since the early
1980’s. The Purgatory Legends Lift 8 DCL4,
replacing a 1995 CL4 marks the first major
investment after the resort was purchased last
year and helped to launch the resort’s 50th
anniversary celebrations. Under the same ownership as Purgatory, Sipapu Resort installed
the new Pedro CL4 lift. The first new lift for the
resort in 35 years. Three other fixed grip installations rounded out 2015 resort projects: Okemo – Timber Creek CL4, Loveland Chair 4 CL3,
Boler Canada Wild Mountain Express CL4.

URBAN
Macau Golden Reel: a world-class entertainment experience
Let your fortunes soar to new heights on the
world’s highest figure-8 observation wheel and
admire the breathtaking views of Macau 130
meters up in the air. The Golden Reel is located
at the center-point between the resort’s twin
“Art Deco meets Gotham City” hotel towers,
and offers visitors a unique experience. Visitors access one of the 17 self-rotating cabins
offering enough space and enchantment to
host private events. Weighing 7 tons each and
measuring 4.50 m by 3.80 m, these incredible
high-tech “capsules” are fitted with glass floors,
air conditioning and — as a vintage touch —
filament lamps. Up to 10 people can fit into
each cabin and the ride lasts over 15 minutes.
Astainable®: a pioneering approach
POMA participated in a “sustainable city simu
lator”. Astainable® — a contraction of Astana
(capital of Kazakhstan) and sustainable — is a
virtual-reality tool that showcases French knowhow contributing to the development of sustainable cities, in terms of engineering and industrial,
technical and technological expertise.
Astainable® is especially aimed at the emergence
of an innovative solution for public transport to
relieve the city’s traffic congestion by integrating
the third aspect, namely an aerial ropeway.
DirectDrive: a universal success
The DirectDrive system is used not just for
skiing, but also for urban transportation. The

This installation is a continuation of POMA’s
presence in the Zlatibor Mountains since we
participated in modernizing the Tornik ski resort
in 2007 when Ski Resort of Serbia ordered their
6-seater detachable grip chairlift, the first one in
Serbia, thus proving our long term commitment
to Serbia.
A royal gondola lift will connect the city of
Čajetina to the Tornik ski resort in the Zlatibor
Mountains. This gondola lift will be 8,866
meters long and equipped with 36 line towers.
It will have two sections and will carry 1,000
passengers per hour and per direction at a
speed of 6 m/s. Thanks to the impressive
technical characteristics of this lift, it will be able
to claim the record for the longest monocable
detachable grip gondola lift ever built — not
only in Serbia, but the rest of the world — to
our knowledge. The 90 Diamond cabins will
bring skiers and tourists along a 25-minute trip

hour and will provide an easy and rapid connection between the centre and the north-east
of the city by flying over the meandering Ozama
River twice. As early as 2017, this 10-passenger urban gondola lift spanning 5 km with a
capacity of 3,000 passengers per hour will harmoniously complete the urban transportation
network as it will be directly connected to the
Santo Domingo Metro station at Gualey (metro
line 2), with a 20 min ride. It continues on to
serve the Tres Brazos and Sabana Perdida stations, providing the much-needed connection
to the bus network. It will continue through to
the Charles de Gaulle station at the end of the
line. Once it is commissioned at the end of
2016, passengers will be able to take advantage of a safe, comfortable trip through the air,
while flying over the jungle of traffic jams.
The Georgian town of Chiatura is located in a
mountain valley on the banks of the Qvirila
River. The city of Chiatura chose POMA to
modernize its urban aerial transport system
which will structure the city’s urban development and will become part of the identity of
the city. Four gondola lines (Sanatory, Lejubani,
Muxadze and Naguti) will connect the suburbs,
at a speed of 6 m/s. Each gondola will carry 15
passengers and ensure a pleasant ride above
the city. Intended to be the main transportation
mode for the local population, it is expected to
serve over 10,000 people per day.

FLYINGBELT BRAZIL
CABLE CRANES IN TURKEY
MAINTENANCE SERVICES
The Flyingbelt project in Barroso, Brazil has
finally come to a successful end.
This innovative transport system is the result of
a concerted effort between AGUDIO engineers
specializing in planning ropeways and conveyors, in managing construction site operations,
and in electromechanical design. Together they
have constructed a record-breaking conveyor
suspended on cables that is an astonishing
7,200 meters long and that provides the
LafargeHolcim cement works in Barroso with
1,500 metric tons of limestone per hour.
The project boasts some impressive figures:
650 metric tons of metal structures to construct the loading and unloading stations and
the 18 towers positioned along the route,
60,000 meters of cable, 25,000 rollers, and a
15,000-meter-long single rubber belt.
Only a few months ago, three AGUDIO cable
cranes came into operation in the construction
of the enormous Yusufeli dam in Turkey. At 270
meters, it is the third highest dam in the world.
Limak Construction has placed its trust in
AGUDIO technology for moving the site machinery and pouring 3,000,000 cubic meters
of concrete – testament to AGUDIO’s leading
position in the sector.
AGUDIO’s cable cranes are currently unparalleled in their performance and reliability, offering
28 metric tons of capacity (or 48 metric tons
running two machines in parallel) and, above
all, a 300-meter vertical rise.
The maintenance contracts for the material
handling funiculars and ropeways in the ENEL
and IREN hydroelectric power plants in Italy
have been renewed for 2016, as it has done
for the historic material ropeway in Savona.
The ropeways in Savona are a particular
success story for AGUDIO. Thanks to the skill
and professionalism of its engineers, it has
successfully established a relationship of trust
with the customer, who since 2003 has commissioned the construction of various restructuring, upgrading, and maintenance measures
on the material ropeway that connects the
port of Savona to the industrial estate at Cairo
Montenotte 18 kilometers away in the Ligurian
Apennines.
30
By merging AGUDIO with LEITNER ropeways
and continuing to use the AGUDIO brand for
material transport systems, the Group is implementing its strategy aimed at strengthening its

RAPTOR 300
RAPTOR 300
Vegetation management
THE MARKET IN 2015
RAPTOR 300
In 2015, its anniversary year, the vegetation
management division looked back on 25
years of innovative AHWI technology. Another
milestone was the successful introduction of
the RAPTOR 300 tracked carrier vehicle in
Europe, America and Russia. Customers were
impressed by its reliability and new features.
The year started off very well in the American
market, but then became somewhat restrained
due to falling oil prices. The new series of
hydraulic mulchers, M450, M550 and M650,
were also well received in the USA. And the
delivery of eight RF 800 rotavators to Oregon
marked a breakthrough for the project business in the USA.
PRINOTH has achieved yet another innovation
with its RAPTOR 300. The expanded new
generation of tracked carrier vehicles includes
the RAPTOR 800 and the RAPTOR 300 “little
brother” in the 275-hp class. Tried-and-tested
attributes have been further developed here,
and the benefits of the new generation of
PRINOTH mulching carriers have been incorporated as well. Aside from the key unique selling
points offered by all PRINOTH vehicles, such as
maximum efficiency and service life, this model
places particular emphasis on adapting to meet
a diverse range of customer requirements.
The RAPTOR 300 is the latest generation of
vehicles and already complies with the regulations of the strictest current exhaust emission
standard “Stage IV/Tier 4 final”, which no other
manufacturer has yet been able to implement.
42
FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE
PRINOTH MODULAR SYSTEM
MODULAR DESIGN WITH EASY SERVICE
AND MAINTENANCE
The modular design has been further developed, allowing the RAPTOR 300 to be fitted
with two different mechanical drive systems
for the attachment. Customers can choose
here between a highly flexible power take-off
(PTO) drive with a CAT 3 interface and a robust
Powerband drive that allows for a virtually unlimited lifting height. With three different types
of undercarriage available, the vehicle can be
customized to suit any possible requirements in
terms of ground pressure, traction, and overall
width. Like the RAPTOR 800 with 640-hp, the
275-hp RAPTOR 300 features a ramped-up
delta undercarriage on the rear.
Thanks to the modular design of the mulcher
series, it has been possible to generate a modular system of machine elements, resulting in
shorter delivery times and simplified stocking
of spare parts at the customer’s premises.
The new series of mulchers, M450, M550 and
M650, are already part of this new modular
system. In addition, the modular design also
significantly reduces service and maintenance
costs. Development work focused especially on
providing access to maintenance components
in response to requests from customers.

public at Interalpin 2015 in Innsbruck. Although
the Eos was initially conceived as a limited
edition for 2015, customer demand increased
sharply once DEMACLENKO had demonstrated the model’s technological supremacy on
the slopes. One notable example highlighting
the successful launch of the new-generation
Titan and the new Eos lance was the project
involving several Schultz Group ski resorts,
which comprised over 200 snow guns in all.
Another was the order from Kitzbühel for more
than 150 guns plus a new pumping station
including pipelines. This helped to guarantee
snow for the famous Hahnenkamm Races.
Shortly before the official homologation of
the slope, more snow guns were delivered to
Kitzbühel’s Streif course to provide the perfect base layer as preparations reached their
DEMACLENKO supplied more than 2,000
snow guns last year. Merely doubling production from the 450 built in its first year of
business in 2011, which actually represents a
fourfold increase. More than 1,000 propeller
machines and nearly 1,000 lances were delivered to various ski resorts around the world
last year. The new Titan 2.0 accounted for an
impressive production volume of 600 all by
itself, reinforcing the leading position enjoyed
by the most powerful snow gun on the market.
The key to the snow guns’ success is their
cutting-edge technology, especially that used in
the new Eos lance, which was unveiled to the
46
Outlook
climax. DEMACLENKO has also been hard at
work on the international scene. After entering
the French market in early 2015, some major
projects have already been completed and successfully put into operation. Another important
international undertaking is the new snowmaking system for the Genting Resort Secret
Garden ski resort near Beijing. This is a groundbreaking reference project, especially with the
city currently gearing itself up to stage the 2022
Winter Olympics. The largest European project
of 2015 was undoubtedly that at Hafjell, one of
Norway’s best-known ski resorts. The two new
pumping stations complete with DN 400 feed
pipe, which ensure the snow guns are kept well
supplied, formed the bulk of the construction
work that is now complete.
DEMACLENKO will be focusing increasingly on
cultivating its existing partnerships in the year
ahead. Among other things, the company has
already signed a new framework agreement to
continue expanding its snowmaking system at
Silvretta Montafon, while another major order
from Sesto has also been received. The most
important project in Switzerland this coming
year will once again be the partnership with
St. Moritz. The resort has been hard at work for
three years now as it prepares to host the 2017
FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, all while
relying on DEMACLENKO’s expertise.

2015 in retrospect
TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICE
TO MEET THE CHALLENGES
OF NEW MARKETS
There was excellent progress made on the
onshore project near the Polish village of
Moszczenica, which has a total installed power
of 3 megawatts. LEITWIND built two LTW86
1.5 MW wind turbines on reconfigured towers
with a hub height of 100 m, completing the
order on schedule in under eight months and
signing a 15-year full-service maintenance contract as well.
Another two projects are currently being implemented in Tokat, a provincial capital in Turkey.
As well as constructing an LTW80 1.0 MW
turbine for the well-known Çavuşoğlu Tower
Hotel, the company also won a public tender
to build a second LTW80 1.0 MW turbine to
power the city’s public buildings. This second
order included all infrastructure works and all
the necessary authorizations from the public
authorities such as construction permits and
grid connection.
2015 saw LEITWIND continue its unstinting
drive for technological innovations in its efforts
to develop a constant stream of cutting-edge
products, never losing sight of the fact that only
state-of-the-art wind turbines make it possible
to overcome the challenges of international
markets.
LEITWIND was also committed to being a
reliable partner for its customers, from the
planning stage right through to operating assistance. By optimizing its organizational structure, bolstering its sales network, and tapping
into new, highly promising markets, the company achieved its objectives for the year, always
focusing primarily on finding solutions to new
challenges. The successes enjoyed in Poland
and Turkey were worthy of particular note.
50
Outlook
INNOVATION AND SYNERGIES
FROM THE PRODUCT
TO THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETUP
LEITWIND also won another prestigious order
in the USA, with Texas-based group Advance
Power LLC commissioning the company to
build six LTW80 1.5 MW (hub height 65 m)
wind turbines on St. Thomas, one of the US
Virgin Islands. The characteristic Caribbean
climate, with its humid heat, gale-force winds,
severe weather, and hurricans, made this a
unique challenge. Nevertheless, LEITWIND
gained the trust of this key customer with its
ability to adapt its technology to suit local conditions.
The global demand for LEITWIND’s technology
was demonstrated once again when eight
LTW86 1.5 MW wind turbines were supplied
to BMD Limited in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. A total of 29 turbines for Beta
Wind are set to be built in the state of Andhra
Pradesh by the end of 2016.
LEITWIND intends to continue its innovative approach of adapting its technology to the climate
and other local conditions. Its latest innovation
is a wind turbine that delivers an optimum
power output even at low wind speeds: The
new LTW90 has a rotor diameter of 90 m and a
rated power of 1.0 MW or 1.5 MW or 2.0 MW.
The synergy effects between POMA and
LEITWIND will be reaped in 2016, with both
companies benefiting from the construction of
a production plant for wind turbine components
in Montmélian and from a partnership on the
French market. 2017 will then see delivery of
the first onshore multi-megawatt turbines to be
manufactured at the new site in the French Alps.
