FUNDRAISING NEWSLETTER: SUMMER 2015
Hello and welcome to our latest edition - time is flying and we’ve been as busy as ever, with new
projects and staff starting for the year ahead...
Since April, Manchester Mind has received generous donations of £9,043. Thanks to everyone who gave to
our charity, helping us double what we thought we could raise this quarter...we’re speechless!
We can’t thank you enough for all your great efforts - from sporty sponsored challenges, comedy nights,
cake bakes, music concerts, quiz nights and standing order donations, we’ve been amazed at the kind help
received. Manchester Mind needs you, so please know how important you are.
Please share this newsletter with friends, family and work colleagues - together we’ll continue working for
better mental health for all.
If you have an idea for a fundraising event, want to nominate us as your charity of the year, regularly
donate or are considering leaving us a gift in your will, let us know: [email protected]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thanks as ever from everyone at Manchester Mind - together we can send a positive message to challenge
stigma and ensure no one faces a mental health problem alone.
Have a good Summer ahead.

Joanna

FUNDRAISING NEWSLETTER: SUMMER 2015
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK: 11-17 May
Every year, thousands of mental health organisations across the UK work to raise awareness of wellbeing
issues during MHAW - this year’s theme was “mindfulness.”
Over 7 days we offered free yoga sessions (thanks Andrea Schiblon),
gardening sessions and our latest project “Food for All” launched ‘Pay
What You Can Wednesday’ at The Zion Cafe. People enjoyed a healthy
free lunch, made a donation or gave £3 to buy someone a meal. We also
hosted an info stall at Didsbury Library (thanks Maxine at Didsbury Mind
shop for your hospitality) and encouraged employers to take part in our
mindfulness sessions – great to meet staff at Schoosmiths, Teacup, PPS
Group and Irwin Mitchell - thanks for all your positive feedback.
You can still download free employer resources from Mind, including legal
guides for employees; Wellness Actions Plans (WAPs), employer guides &
toolkits and huge range of booklets on mental health issues. Time to
Change also post free printed employer resources to your office at no cost.
AND....once again cafes and shops across the city to entered a traders’ competition to promote MHAW by
displaying our poster and selling a product/service in aid of our charity. Kind hearted traders included
Airy Fairy Cupcakes; Appleby’s Hearty English Refreshment; Giddy Goats; Ginger’s Comfort Emporium;
Goodstock (Woolly Mammoth’s handmade items); Love Juice; Left Media; Northern Flowers; Teacup;
Urban Angels...our sincere thanks. Thanks also to Gusto Didsbury (raffle prize) & Flower Lounge (donation
tin).
In just 7 days £1,663.09 was donated and hundreds of people saw our poster.
The winner of “best staff team” was Teacup (£155.00), followed by Left Media £123.40.
Thanks for your amazing support during Mental Health Awareness Week 2015
