The 2012 Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plate, “Home Reef” is designed by
Sven Vestergaard, who found his inspiration in the view from Denmark’s
3,000 miles of beautiful coastline. Here a sailboat is sailing past Denmark’s
largest wind farm, Horns Rev, out in the North Sea. The Christmas

the way Denmark looked to a
master cartographer in 1692
It’s guesswork, but as far as we can tell these
handsome maps have been languishing in a
Copenhagen warehouse since 1920. Thanks
to one of our sharp-eyed buyers (who pokes
around in old warehouses), we can offer a limited number of surviving specimens at a special price.
They are in remarkabley good condition and suitable for framing but be forewarned “they are slightly
stained”. Since no two maps are stained exactly alike, it adds to their originality. While Denmark,
the center of our universe, is the star attraction, parts of what is now southern Sweden, northern
Germany and eastern Poland are shown.
