manc16 16-1.eps - MidAmerica Newspaper Conference
nt e P i s re Co m de Fro th nce ere f n Dear Colleagues, Welcome to the 56th annual 2016 Mid-America Newspaper Conference. This year our theme is “New Opportunities for Increased Profit.” If that does not catch your attention, I don’t know what will. PRESIDENT Ed Ciambrone Lawrence Journal World 645 New Hampshire Lawrence, KS 66044 785-823-7260 VICE-PRESIDENT James Jensen Parsons Sun Parsons, KS 620-421-2000 PROGRAM CHAIRMAN Dave Brolhorst Retired Lincoln, NE 816-304-2183 SECRETARY/ TREASURER Murphy Wlaschin The University of Iowa Iowa City, IA 319-384-3906 We all know the struggles of our industry. And we all know that talking about them and sitting on our hands won’t solve anything. We need to come together as an industry, share the things that are working, and the things that are not working, and move our industry forward. You can gather the information to do that at our conference. This year, we have joined forces with the Midwest Circulation Managers Association. On the first day of our conference, they will be presenting various updates on Postal Regulations, Home Delivery issues, Single-copy and Revenue-generating ideas. We have planned areas of focus for each day of the conference. If you are not able to attend the entire conference, you can join us for the days that cover your area of responsibility. But it is always a good idea to return to your operations with suggestions to improve other areas of the business. Please come to the conference prepared with questions, ideas and concerns. We normally allot time at the end of each presentation for a Q & A session. These are often the most productive part of the day. Patty Laue will host a room that is open to all. Location will be posted in the lobby. Don’t forget to bring lots of cookies, a couple of Bingo gifts. Also, bring any cookbooks from your newspapers. We look forward to seeing you there! This Program Printed by I look forward to seeing you at the conference.
