 EDMONDS Located north of Seattle, this charming seaside community offers a small town feel with stunning Puget Sound and mountain views. Located east of downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill is a lively Seattle neighborhood. A beautiful seaside community located 15 miles north of Seattle along Puget Sound, Edmonds provides extensive views of the water and Olympic Mountains, and access to beaches, waterfront parks, and a walkable downtown area. Edmonds w as founded by George Brackett in 1890, while paddling a canoe from Seattle in search of timber. In the 21 st century, you can travel to Edmonds by car, bus, Amtrak and Sound Transit commuter rail, bicycle, or boat. The Edmonds-­‐Kingston Ferry docks here and the Port of Edmonds is one of the largest marine facilities in the area. The Frances Anderson Center, located on Main Street, serves as a central hub for sports facilities, childcare programs, art classes, and is adjacent to the Edmonds Library. The Summer Market hums on Saturdays from May to September, drawing over 2,000 people w eekly to purchase flowers, fresh produce, and handmade crafts. Edmonds is served by the Edmonds School District: Edmonds-­‐Woodway High School; two middle schools; six primary schools; and two K-­‐8 schools. Edmonds-­‐Woodway High is currently one of only eight schools in the state to host an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Looking for food in Edmonds?
