Dear Parent / Carer

Last day of Autumn Term 2.
Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
The term has ended in much
excitement and celebrations. The
whole school went to the Basingstoke
pantomime on Tuesday which was a
fantastic occasion and the children
were brilliantly behaved. We have
seen nativity plays performed by
Reception and Key Stage 1, a very
special Christmas service at St. Mary’s
as well as eaten a delicious Christmas
dinner and taken part in fun Christmas
parties.
We would like to wish all our families a
very Merry Christmas and Happy New
Year. We hope you all have a relaxing
and fun time over the festive period
and have a wonderful New Year!
We will welcome you back to
school on Monday 4th January
ready for an exciting new term.
Thank you for your support this term
and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and
a very HAPPY NEW YEAR.

The Nativity at Kingsclere CE Primary School
The highlight of this week was definitely the Reception and KS1 Christmas productions. The children had
learnt lots and lots of words and songs over the last few weeks and they sung them with such confidence
and enthusiasm. They did themselves, their teachers and of course their parents proud with their
performances. Very well done to all our children.

School Leaders
Congratulation to Lily, Lucy, Harrison and Harry for being elected as
our school leaders for the Spring term. We would like to thank Jimmy,
Genevieve, Daniel and Libby for being superb school leaders this
term and for all their hard work to help the school run efficiently. Next
terms leaders have got a hard act to follow.
Christmas Church Service
With a break in tradition, we held our Christmas church service on a Thursday afternoon this year. All our
children, together with teachers, support staff, parents and carers came together at St Mary’s Church in the
heart of our village to retell and celebrate the Christmas story. We would like to thank Father Patrick who
lead our service and our school choir sang several songs for us all to enjoy. We would also like to thank Tim
Bennett and other colleagues from Cheam School for their musical support.

Christmas Celebrations at our School
This year we held our Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas lunch and class parties on Friday 18th December. The
whole school came together for their annual Christmas lunch cooked by Nicola and her team, Julie, Rob and
Kate. A big thank you from the school for such a lovely lunch. The children were served their lunch by their
teachers, support staff and lunchtime ladies. Then all the children carried on their festive celebrations with their
class parties. During the lunch and the afternoon the children were chatting, telling jokes from their Christmas
crackers, playing party games and enjoying celebrating with their friends.

What an amazing Pantomime
Wow what a performance! Our Year 3-6 drama club were amazing. They have only
had 10 weeks of rehearsal and they put on an outstanding show for parents and
carers after school last week. We are very proud of them all for their effort and
enthusiasm. A big thank to Mrs Batson for the planning and staging of the
performance “Schooltime Pantomime”. They put on an equally amazing
performance for the whole school. Well done to all our budding stars.

Year 6 WW2 Party
In preparation to celebrate our end of war party we made invites, selected our music playlist,
created a game and made chocolate oat cakes from a recipe adapted for rationing.
We began our party by listening to Churchill's speech which he made at the end of war. We
sampled our oatcakes and danced to some music. We also played a game that we made based
upon a popular WW2 game. Lots of children enjoyed dressing up in 1940s style clothing.
Year 5 Space Presentation
This term in year 5 we have been studying space. In
groups, the children put together a science
PowerPoint presentation on what they had learnt,
including some things that they had researched
themselves. They then presented these to their
parents and carers in the school last Wednesday.

Oak Class - Year 2 - Christmas Pantomime Recount
Yesterday we went to the panto of Jack and the
Beanstalk. Once upon a time there was a boy
called Jack. One day it was the princesses birthday
but Simon was late! When they found Simon the
princess got a golden harp for her birthday but
flesh creep stole it!
By Hannah
Yesterday I went to a pantomime and it was called
Jack and the Beanstalk in Basingstoke.
Yesterday we went to a pantomime, it was Jack
and the Beanstalk. First we went on the coach,
when we got there the people sang a song. After
that a fairy came on the stage and then Flesh
Creep jumped on stage and in three minutes
Simple Simon came out of nowhere and then the
king came over a bridge with his princess. It was
the princesses birthday.
By Jasper
First we went on a bit, blue coach and it was as
long as a very long snake. Second it took then
minutes to get there. Next the part that was my favourite part was when the ghost ran away from
Jacks mum. My funniest part is when Simple Simon
said “I say simple and you say Simon. My saddest
part is when Jack and Simple Simon sells Daisy the
cow.
