Type of work : Abrasive Blasting & Polyester Coating (Isophthalic based 1000
Microns) at Splash zone and all steel structures from above spider deck to below
cellar deck and application of 800 micron amine adduct cured epoxy underwater
painting system at + 1 meter MSL to – 2 meter MSL and painting of all areas of above
cellar deck to top of helideck by 3 coat epoxy system.
Location of work : ONGC Wellhead Towers at Mumbai High South Field and North
Field.
No. of units: 26 nos. Wellhead Towers.
Location of activity: Splash zone all steel structures , Atmospheric Zone Legs Risers
and VDM’s upto underside cellar deck and all steel structures from +1meter MSL to 2 meter MSL and all structures from underside cellar deck to helideck top.
Accommodation of crew : Thru Vessel MV SARKU UTTAMA , MV SARKU 2000 , MV
SARKU SEMANTAN , MV SARKU SAMBANG.
Approximate area to cover in square meters : 2,60,000 square meters.

After continuous failure of paint systems at TATA Plant, they have
understood the need of service provided by JKSC.
To ensure that the partnership between JK surface Coatings and TATA
Steel would be successful, the following steps were taken:
Establishing a centralized & self-dependent surface management system.
Set up of a process to determine appropriate coating schemes by correct identification
of normal/ corrosive/ highly corrosive zones.
Deployment of state-of-the-art painting equipment like airless painting machine
instead of brush or roller for improved productivity and quality.
Ensuring cost reduction by increasing life of painted surface.

On being awarded the contract, JKSC partnered with the steel
company to assign priorities to different kind of jobs, fix the rates
for each job and put in place stringent Service Level Agreements
to ensure that each job was done to the customers' satisfaction.

necessary, certified resources. State-of-the-are equipment was
deployed, and resources were trained to be able to conform to
TATA Steel's stringent quality requirements.

JKSC Was Actively Involved in Coating Activity during the commissioning of one
of the largest refineries of India, Reliance Jam Nagar.
The project required contractor who can complete the huge quantum of job within
limited time frame and maintaining the highest standard of quality and safety.
JKSC adopted following approach to be able to ensure both, speed and quality:
1-Mobilization of a large, trained and experienced workforce comprising project
managers, planning engineers, project supervisors, site supervisors, Quality assurance
/ Quality control engineers, trained machine operators, blasters and painters and
helpers.
2- Deployment of large numbers of the required equipment
The project was completed before stipulated time and quality of coating job was
found so good that structures coated by our team have lasted for so many years
without requiring any repair/patch up jobs.

contract to paint the RTF tanks
Understanding the urgency and quantum of the
job on hand, JKSC mobilized large numbers of
especially suited equipment like:
1. Automatic multi-nozzle blasting equipments.
2. Heavy duty airless spray equipment which allow
for the usage of upto 3 guns per compressor.
JKSC met Reliance expectations and again
completed the project without exceeding the
project time and maintained appropriate quality
policy through out the project.

Case Study For ONGC Offshore
Structures
ONGC India, is one of the largest oil and natural gas company in Asia has
over 200 offshore structures, of which 170 are unmanned, wellhead
platforms. These unmanned platforms were in a severely Corroded
Condition.
Surface maintenance work (both Coating application and Refurbishing
was being done piecemeal, without the proper surface preparation or
application by different Contractors .
Essentially, ONGC was incurring a lot of expenditure without getting the
desired results.
Case Study For ONGC Offshore Structures
Once JKSC was awarded the contract, JKSC mobilized 2
workboats with a capacity to house around 75 resources each and
storage space for large compressors, paints, abrasive blasting
materials and other necessary equipments.
The platforms were stripped down to their original state and then
painted using a variety of cutting edge coatings from the helideck
to the underwater legs. Each vessel was equipped with the high
end machinery and coatings. They were manned by our highly
trained and experienced workforce who then stripped down to

Impact of JKSC service on ONGC Expenditure
The structures would not required Frequent “Touch Ups”
jobs.
Proper blasting and application techniques were used in
the application of the coatings to ensure that the coatings
applied lasted the desired period and actively resisted
further corrosion.
Reduced down time due to the fact that the structures,
once treated by JKSC would not require refurbishment for
periods of upto 10 years.

OFFSHORE RIGS
Rigs are Prone to severe corrosion due to severe corrosive
environment at Offshore.
To Protect the Rigs, ONGC had awarded contract to us to protect their
assets. Name of some of the Rig was Sagar Ratna, Sagar Uday, Sagar
Laxmi, Sagar Gaurav, Sagar Shakti, Sagar Kiran etc.
JKSC Had done extensive site survey of those Rigs and made a concrete
working plan to increase efficiency and Quality.
Best Quality Coating System was selected after doing in-house trial of
major coating products listed in tender to avoid any compromise at
later stage.
OFFSHORE RIGS
Surface preparation and cleaning was done very
steadfastly to provide better adhesion to coating
system.
Proper Scaffolding was done at side and underneath
area of Rig Hull for carrying out proper job .
The whole job was completed without deviating to any
safety issues. Not even a minor accident was reported
during our job execution period.
Rig Hull was taken proper care of through proper
surface preparation and coating application strategy
Job at each and every RIG was completed within
stipulated time while maintaining high quality
standards.
Coating at most of the rigs are still in sound condition
even after several year of applications.
