a. Senior citizens and staff at the Dogwood Bend Assisted Living facility with Holiday care
packages (tissue, socks, homemade stocking cards, and candy canes), Christmas
Carols and visits to the residents. (12/21/11)
b. Greenwood Alternative School students via Reality Check program- a simulated
version of life to enhance parental appreciation and the impact of current
decisions on other areas of life in the future. (12/19/11)
c. Award academic achievement and community outreach efforts. Stacy Jenkins and
Stephon Jenkins were awarded tickets to a Tennessee Titans game (with
additional tickets provided for both parents) by Bill Mace who was approached
by County Commissioner Pastor Tommy Vallejos of HOPE (11/22/2011)
d. Children of the Kleeman Community Center during the Christmas Outreach Program
(12/13/11) LEAP Board President Tamir Cole read “Polar Express”, LEAP Youth
distributed snacks to the children. (12/13/11)
e. New Providence United Methodist Church hosted Thanksgiving meal Outreach
initiative sponsored by HOPE to the low income families of Montgomery County
--- LEAP ORG worked along beside volunteers from several churches and HOPE
to distribute hundreds of turkeys and Thanksgiving boxes filled with various side
items. (11/19/11)

f. Hands on Clarksville (part 2) – LEAP Interns painted clay ceramic bowls to be used to
support the Empty Bowls event held on 2/28/12 at the Emmanuel Family Life
Center and benefits Loaves and Fishes and Urban Ministries Food Pantry
(11/9/11)
g. Women’s Independence Scholarship Program (WISP)--- $1,000.00 Education Assistant
Scholarship awarded to Gladyn Minzey. LEAP Sponsored the Women’s
Independence Scholarship Program – Assist single moms with young children
who are also survivors of intimate partner abuse to gain work skills so that they
can support their families. (10/18/11)
h. Bowl-A-Thon at APSU makes bowls to fight hunger (PT 1) ----hosted by Ken Shipley,
Associate Professor Austin Peay State University-- LEAP ORG board members,
mentors, and interns help create the ceramic clay bowls which will be used for
the Empty Bowls project. (10/8/11)
i. U.S. Troop Care Packages – LEAP Mentors and Interns volunteered during the Serve
to Remember Days of Service in remembrance of 9/11. This project was part of
a collaborative effort with Hands On Clarksville. LEAP’s role was to collect care
package items for a 9/11 Campaign: Red, White, Blue and True, American Troops
during Riverfest. Tamira Cole, Board President of LEAP spearheaded this
initiative. (9/9-10/11)
j. LEAP ORG 1 of 5 grant recipients for funding ($81,098) from the Tennessee
Commission on Children and Youth (TCCY) to organizations with programs
geared towards reducing juvenile delinquency and recidivism in Tennessee for
youth 12-18 years old. Youth will be serviced from Robertson, Cheatham, and
Montgomery County (9/28/2011)
k. Pinnacle Bowling Brings Organization Closer-LEAP Board of Directors, mentors, and
interns had a fun outing to foster teamwork and to build relationships among
the growing organization. Due to organizational growth from 5 kids to 33 kids
and other children who are event participants, LEAP initiated an opportunity to
build cohesion. (8/20/11)
l. Woodland Hills Youth Development Center Career Fair- LEAP along with other
organizations shared information about their program with detainees so that
they would be prepared to earn income upon release. Michael Leach,
Woodland Hills staff member and LEAP ORG mentor appealed to the community
for support. (7/14/2011)
m. Back to School Basketball Bash and Family Fun Day – LEAP ORG partnered with CARE

Suzuki, Sonic, Skyline Bowling, North Central Institute, Don Pancho’s , Red
Lobster, the Army, Navy, Marines, and the Memphis Grizzlies helped make the
Family Fun Day possible with contributions ranging from products, door prize
giveaways, inflatables, and school supplies. The community and vendors
donated 300 + packs of notebook paper that LEAP ORG and the Emmanuel
Family Life Center will match. The notebook paper will be combined with other
school supply drive efforts by several churches and nonprofit organizations
throughout the community to be able to distribute 600 -700 backpacks full of
supplies in the 16th Annual Housing Authority Back to School Bash in Lincoln
Homes and Summit heights. (July 16, 2011)
n. LEAP Interns Reach Out to Storm Victims – Daquan Orebo (17) and Ralphie Armstrong
(12) participants in the LEAP lawn Care Service (Cutting Edge Lawn Care Service)
demonstrated the fifth of the 7 Points (Outreach) after noticing that several of a
client’s trees had fallen with a host of limbs in the back yard. The young men
were advised to just cut the front yard. However the young men took it upon
themselves to set financial gain aside and clear all the limbs and branches from
the lot and stack them alongside the fallen trees and then proceeded to cut as
much of the backyard as possible. When asked how they felt about the extra
work replied, “The money is cool and all, but its nice to be able to help people.”
o. LEAP Interns complete 7 Point Quest --- Four youth prospects became LEAP Interns. They
had successfully completed a 6 week orientation process where they learned the
true meaning of Leadership, Enlightenment, Academic Achievement,
Perseverance, Outreach, Responsibility, and Growth. Valerie and April Ogburn
(graduates of the 2009 orientation class and scholarship recipients returned to
participate in the 2011 ceremony. (6/8/2011)
p. LEAP Teaches Youth How To Fish ----- LEAP believe in teaching their interns and adult clients
to fish and not to rely upon handouts. Leo Millan, owner of Millan Enterprises
and Strategic Planner of the L.E.A.P. ORG. Board of Directors said, “We are here
to give members of our community a hand up, not a hand out.” This is the LEAP
ORG approach that to the acquisition of funds that rivals the “hand out” method
of solicitation utilized by so many youth in the front of Walmart which LEAP ORG
believe set a bad example for a youth in making them believe that society owes
them a handout according to LEAP Founder Richard “Reason” Garrett.
q. Youth Trip to Washington DC ----LEAP ORG, First Missionary Baptist Church, and the
Clarksville Community partners (Joe Heitz Toyota, The Rich Garrett Team
Prudential Professional Realty, Faith Outreach Church, HOPE, The Convenient
Shopper Magazine, F&M Bank, and Bennett’s Photography) together to provide
the opportunity for LEAP youth to go to Washington D.C.

r. Alternative School Youth Outreach Program ---- LEAP ORG participated in an outreach
program initiated by Alea White of Take It By Force Ministries to the students
enrolled in the Alternative School. Other community outreach servants included
Mikey Ligon, Simone Bryant, Kendrix Jefferson, Antonio French, and Treal, YDOD
and G-Unity 12 (5/23/2011)
s. All Work and No Play Makes LEAP Interns Dull Students----- LEAP ORG teach the importance
of a healthy balance between diligent work and free time to enjoy the fruit of
their labor with family and friends. Although by IRS classification LEAP is not a
Faith Based Organization, it is founded upon the principles of Faith, Hope, and
Love. Religion is not forced on students as a requirement of the program, but is
offered as an opportunity for those who wish to discover their spiritual need as
their natural needs are being addressed.
t. LEAP 2nd Annual Stomp and Sound Off Crew Challenge --- Annual Step/Dance Show
Competition at Kenwood High School. Pre-Show activities included a Daymar
Institute facilitated a youth workshop with various speakers who provided
motivation and practical career planning advice. The students were encouraged
to participate in an essay competition for a $500.00 scholarship sponsored by
H.O.P.E. Precious Miller from West Creek High School won the contest. Yolanda
Stewart sang the National Anthem, J-rad performed, Tamira Cole, DJ Pryor and Jrad served as hosts. The purpose of this event was to support the performing
arts in our local schools as well as aid LEAP in its mission to develop and
strengthen communities of productive citizens with values of Leadership,
Enlightenment, Academic Achievement, and Perseverance through faith, hope
and love by providing mentoring, tutoring, affordable housing, and various
assistance programs. (3/12/11)
u. LEAP Helps Single Mom to Secure Housing ----- Through a partnership with Millan
Enterprises and the support of Flourishing Families, H.O.P.E., the Emmanuel
Family Life Center, First Missionary Baptist Church, the Convenient Shopper,
Clarksville Restore, and members of the community the LEAP organization helps
to provide housing to low income single parents who find themselves in dire
need of housing. Recipients receive the first two months of housing free of
charge. The third and 4th month will be $225.00 with additional assistance
provided such as job training, resume writing, and interview technique coaching
so that the client is self-sufficient in five months and able to take care of their
family with limited to no assistance so the LEAP can then reach out to help the
next family. (3/9/2011 – second family assisted; 11/19/2010 – first family
assisted)
