Come and experience a new language this summer!!!
San Diego French-American School (SDFAS) offers a summer camp program
that promotes and maintains language skills during the summer. Children are
involved in a wide variety of fun-filled activities that are also educational.
We are pleased to work with many partners whose competencies will fulfill our
campers’ demands such as Surf, Design Code and Build, Robotics with
Robolink, dance, sports, science, art and much more.
Le Tour du Monde - Around the World Summer Camp provides a head start in
the immersion experience by allowing children to acclimate to a new language
environment or to maintain or improve the language. All of our instructors
have strong backgrounds in language immersion programs.
Le Tour du Monde - Around the World Summer Camp is a multi-lingual camp
and a good introduction to French, English, Spanish, Italian and Chinese
(Mandarin). These classes are conducted in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
We look forward to working with your children this summer in a fun, exciting
and educational atmosphere.

Kindergarten to 8 grade Classes!

Information:

Registration begins during the month of March 2016.

Registration must be completed by Friday June 3rd, 2016. You may register
after this date on a space-available basis, however a $30 late registration fee
will apply. Classes are filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Le Tour du Monde Summer Camp is open to all students between the ages of
3–5 years, 6–9 years and 10 years and up .

Camp dates: June 20th to July 29th. No camp July 4th 2016.

Full day camp hours are from 9-4 p.m. (Surf 9-4:30 p.m.), half-day camp
hours are from 9 a.m.-12 noon or 1-4 p.m. (Surf 9-12:30, 10-1:30 or 1-4:30
p.m.).

Price includes insurance, activity materials and field trips with school transportation.

Discount price before April 30th: full day camp starts at $275 per week.

After April 30th the regular price of $295 per week will apply for a for a full day
camp 9-4 p.m. However if you register for two weeks or more the price is $275
per week.

For July 5th-8th, there is no discount available. Price is $240 for full day camp
or $220 for half day camp for preschool.

Free extended daycare from 8:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Extended daycare from 4
p.m.-6 p.m. available with one week notice at the rate of $8 per hour.

After 6 p.m. a late fee of $1 per minute will be charged.

Lunch from Girard Gourmet can be provided with an order for the full week; it
will be $25 per child per week ($20 for July 5th-8th).

What to bring to Camp
(Please label all of your child’s belongings.)
For all children:

Snacks and/or lunch, drinks and/or water.

Sun protection and hat. Please apply sunscreen before coming to camp.

Medication, if needed, with directions and authorization form.
For 3-5 year olds:

Blanket, sheets, pillow and pillowcase or a sleeping bag for nap time.

A soft comfort toy if needed.
Camp Schedule:
8:30-9:00 a.m.: Before Camp free Childcare
8:45-9:00 a.m.: Campers Sign In
9:00-12:00 p.m.: Morning Camp
12:00-12:45 p.m.: Supervised Lunch and Recess
12:45-1:30 p.m.: nap/rest time for 3-5-year-olds only
1-4:00 p.m.: Afternoon Camp
4:00-6:00 p.m.: After Camp Childcare

Policies and registration:

We cannot hold your child’s space in a session until we have received
payment.

Please complete the following:
Registration form (form 1).
Lunch registration form if applicable (form 2).
If your child is not an SDFAS student you must complete the
Identification and Emergency information (form 3) and
Consent for Emergency Medical Treatment (form 4) and
SDFAS Waiver of Liability (form 5) and provide a copy of the up to date
immunization record with your registration form.









Children who are enrolled in the PK0 (2-year-old) class at SDFAS during
2015-2016 will be allowed in the 3-year old summer camp.
All children MUST be potty-trained before attending the camp. There are no
exceptions to this policy.
For Surf Camp please fill out all the information required in the package
from Surf Diva and return it to the office or fax it directly to them. Payment
to be made to SDFAS.
For the Chinese camp please fill out the AAMA registration form. Make
check payable to AAMA “All About Mandarin Academy,” and mail to:
AAMA, P.O. Box 8458, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067

SDFAS reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment.
If SDFAS cancels a camp, you will get a complete refund or an opportunity
to enroll in another camp (space permitting).

There is a $50 per week cancelation fee for canceling prior to June 3rd. No
refunds will be made after June 4th except for medical reasons.

No refund for sick days.

Please do not bring any valuable items to camp (I-phone, I-POD, IPAD,
video games etc…)

Camps for 3-5 year olds
Most preschool camps, except Kid’s Dance Adventure and Chinese are combined with Playball (30 to 45 min for 3-5
year-olds). See description for more details.
We reserve the right to combine the different age groups if there are not enough students in one specific age group.


Half day camp from 9-12 p.m. starts at $250 per week.


Camps for 6-year-olds and up

All-day campers will go to lunch and recess from 12-1 pm under our staff supervision. There is no need for parents to
be at school. If your child will stay for lunch and recess until 1 p.m., an extra charge of $8 per day will apply. Prices
are in the table below.


Wouldn’t it be fun to learn how to bake like a real “French chef pâtissier”? Let’s lounge
in the world of “madeleines, flans, gougères et gâteaux au chocola t”. We will learn a lot of new
French vocabulary words and new skills. During this camp, children will create their own
cookbook, so that they can reproduce the same goodies at home for their families!

It’s vacation time, so let’s have fun and you’ll go back home with a suitcase full of
camp memories, made of books we read, crafts we created and the sports we played. You will
feel like you are in a real summer camp away from home, just like a “colonie de vacances” in
France.
Pirates and Mermaids ($295)

This camp will be about lost treasures on a tropical island. We will become gentle
pirates, creating our costumes, eyes patches, and jewels. A few mermaids will follow our pirate
ship and help us find the treasure. This week will be full of adventures and games, so let’s go
and find the buried treasure.
Knights, Dragons, and Unicorns ($295)
4-5 Y
Once upon a time….during this week our students will become fierce knights and
beautiful princesses. They will create crowns and jewels; make a sweet piñata dragon and
much more. They will also design a majestic silhouette castle, where unicorns and dragons live
in peace. We will finish the week with a scavenger hunt!

Camp for 3-5 year olds
All About Me ($240)

Our students will discover they are all unique! We will play games and challenge their
sight, hearing, taste and smell. We will learn about our family and make our own family tree. We
will discuss and create crafts about our life, pets, hobbies, and more. The last day we will finish
the class in the kitchen making some homemade cookies… yum!
The 3 G camp: Go Go Green ($295)
3-4 Y
Children will learn about recycling boxes, paper, plastics…and create something
beautiful and unique from it. Let’s turn a plastic bottle into a cool storage container, make fun
decoration projects with color boxes, use bottle caps and make one-of-a-kind magnets. Let’s be
creative and use plastic spoons and make a one-of-a-kind decoration piece. We will use our
imagination and have a wonderful time.
Yoga Story-Telling through Poses and Books ($295) No Playball in this camp

Language: French with Misha
During this camp, we will combine artistic expression with yoga. Children will learn
some basic yoga poses and will have fun creating the alphabet with their bodies. We will read
stories in French and they will use their imagination and creativity to formulate their feelings
through arts and crafts related to the stories.

Decorate the whole classroom with handmade planets, the solar system and even
some kind of aliens! Pretend to be an astronaut! Children will learn to build a small rocket, telescopes, little planets and a lot of different stars. They will play outdoor games (always with the
space topic) and learn songs during the quiet times. A fun way to learn more about the
universe. Mars, Pluto, Venus, Jupiter, Earth… With this creative-scientist camp, children will
discover our universe and became little astronauts. They will draw, make crafts and also build
their own rockets, through outdoor activities.

Let’s spend a week exploring a real “Colonie de vacances” in France! Children will
continue to practice their French and learn new vocabulary and songs. Children will participate in
creative activities around the theme of summer, such as cooking, dancing, painting like masters,
role playing and, most importantly, relaxing in a pleasant atmosphere.
Volumes 3D ($295)

Children will discover Volumes through diverse hands-on activities. The 3D will be the
main theme of this camp exploring it in all domains. We will build with different materials, experiment with sculpting, create courses, make castles... And of course there will be lots of stories and
songs during that week so the things we build can come to life and be played with!
Voyage créatif autour du monde ($295)

Through this journey around the world, we will stop by Paris, Venice, Africa, and China
to discover different cultures and traditions and come back with a lighted Eiffel Tower, a carnival
mask, a Chinese dragon and other crafts, arts, and original creations.
Playball

Children will begin to learn the basics of sports such as soccer, tennis, hockey, basketball, baseball, volleyball and more. We use the medium of sports not only to improve fine and
gross motor development, but also to teach basic life skills. At Camp Playball, your child will
learn persistence, courage, cooperation, respect, positive relationships, self esteem, communication, responsibility and countless other attributes. We use a loving, highly creative medium to
teach necessary skills, educate and play imaginative games. Each camp (except Chinese & Kid’s
Dance Adventure) will have 30 - 45 min of Playball every day depending of the age, except the
week of June 27-July 1 and July 11-15. For more information please visit http://

Roll, Run and Relax ($295)

Language: English with Rachele
Children will learn basic skills in gymnastics using equipment such as a balance beam,
barre and floor mats. Children will learn basic tumbling, and walking on the balance beam forwards and backwards. They will learn to swing or flip over the barre. Floor mats will be used for
an obstacle course, forward rolls and backwards rolls, hand stands, cartwheels etc. This is all
part of learning coordination skills. Children will always warm up before using any equipment to
learn the proper way of stretching out the body. Different types of stretching will be implemented, such as butterfly stretch, pike, straddle, bridge etc.
Fun with Creative Movement and Crafts
3-4 Y
Put on your dancing shoes and come join the fun and excitement of creative movement
and crafts. Your child will explore the art of dance in a fun new way that will teach them different
skills such as skipping, galloping, jumping, turning and more. Each style of movement will be
recreated in the arts and crafts projects that your child will take home. This class is going to be
very energetic, so have your child come in comfortable clothing and shoes. If your child loves to
dance and move to music, then this is the camp for you!
Magical Fairytales ($295)

Like nursery rhymes, there are so many possibilities of fantasy stories of giants,
queens, kings, princesses, dragons and more to explore! These timeless stories will help children learn valuable life lessons, reinforce various skills, and also to "visit" other places and people. All through this week the children will participate in a number of exciting and fun activities.

Kids’ Dance Adventure ($240)

Kids’ Dance Adventure is a program/mobile dance company: KDA is designed to take
children around the world through creative play, dance and activities with the goal of teaching
them a greater understanding and enjoyment of music while building strong social communication and basic motor skills. Kanna will take your child on an adventure with World Music. They
will learn an introduction to many different dance styles: Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Salsa,
Caribbean, Asian, Middle Eastern and many styles of dances and rhythm from all over the
world. Your child’s creativity, coordination, rhythm and self-esteem are developed by playing
musical instruments, verbalizing languages through songs and learning dances. There will be a
performance on the final day. We have been offering quality dance education to the schools
throughout San Diego since 2013. KDA was founded and launched in September, 2013 in San
Diego, by professional dancer, instructor and choreographer, Kanna Burch.

Juguemos en Español is a language immersion program, where children get to learn
Spanish in a fun way. As part of our philosophy in teaching Spanish for children, we believe in
music and laughter as the most effective ways for kids to learn and grow. Why is it important to
learn Spanish in the US? Over 27 million homes in the United States have Spanish as their first
language and 300 million people worldwide. Research indicates that from ages 1 through 8 is
the best time to introduce a new language to a child. The earlier a child is exposed to a second
or third language, the more likely they will speak it with fluency and good pronunciation.

Become an astronaut and get ready to discover our solar system and planets for a
week. Build a telescope to look at the stars, paint some rocks from another planet and a rocket.
Get ready for an intergalactic experience with your feet on the ground and your head full of
stars!

Folklórico is the preservation of Mexican culture and tradition through dance. To offer
this performing art in its most authentic essence through research and international cultural exchange, we have put together a class for your children to learn the dances, lively history and
culture of Mexico. It is a colorful expression of Mexican culture and tradition. These photos
show variations of Mexican folkloric dance costumes represented by different regions of Mexico
including the States of Jalisco, Yucatan, Veracruz and Sinaloa. Mexican folk dancing, performed to the lively music of mariachi bands, shows the energy and motion of this unique dance
style. Your children will get to dress up in traditional clothing. The boys will be wearing the
Charro outfit, which means cowboy in Mexico, and the girls will be wearing colorful,
embroidered dresses showing the region of each state they represent. They will have fun
learning and exploring. We will have lots of activities and at the end we will have a dance performance.

Come join the fun in our animated puppets and stories camp where each child will get
to re-create characters from the stories we read together in class. Children will share ideas with
their peers in class. They will put on a puppet show that they’ve re-created from their own story
or from one that we’ve read together. We will be using various materials to make our

story about the character. If you like to make up your own stories and make crafts, then this

will continue to create a display for the items to be showcased. Coloring, stamping and cutting

camp is all about fun activities, ocean and beach awareness and of course, surfing! Our summer
camp surf instructors are all C.P.R. and First-Aid trained and ready to teach your child the basics
of surfing and enjoying the ocean. The instructor/student ratio is 1 to 4. For Junior & American
Surf Academy, the age range is 9-17 years old and the ratios are 1:5.
All these camps are offered at different time starting either at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., or 1 p.m. for 3.5
