Douglasdale Community Police Forum Potjiekos Competition
The Douglasdale CPF along with the Douglasdale South African Police Service and the Johannesburg
Metropolitan Police Department will be hosting our second Potjiekos Competition on Saturday, 25th June 2016
at the Broadacres Shopping Centre parking area and we are challenging the community to get involved in what
promises to be a fun day for everyone. This fundraising initiative also aims to create awareness within our
community and for the public to build relationships with the men and women in blue that protect us every day.
The entry fee per team (max 4-5 people) will be R1000 and they will be provided with 3kg of beef or chicken
and basic root vegetables. Country Meat has very kindly offered to sponsor the meat for the event. Teams are
required to supply any additional ‘secret’ ingredients. Teams may cook accompanying side dishes, breads or
desserts but will only be judged on the one Potjie pot. After the judging has taken place all Potjie entries will be
sold to the public for R20 per plate to raise additional funds. Various prizes will be awarded for the Best Potjie
(main), Best Potjie (open), Best Stand, Best Team Spirit, etc with token prizes for all entrants. (Competition
rules will be supplied)
We plan to have some activities for the children to keep them occupied while the adults work their magic on the
Potjie Pots and there will also be a small craft market for the public to browse around while waiting to taste the
results of the competition.
We welcome both companies and private individuals to submit a team and show us how they make “the best
Potjie in town”. Sponsors and teams will be allowed to place advertising and banners at the event.
Please spread the word so that we can make this event a roaring success!
Teams have up till the 20th June 2016 to submit their entry forms and for payment to be made to secure their
pitch.
We hope to see you all there…please bring along your family and friends to enjoy a day of fun, all for a good
cause!
