Quebec cinema’s most popular film of last year, winner of the Jutra Billet d’or and the
Golden Reel 2011, STARBUCK has received awards from around the globe and will soon
be “remade” in both Hollywood (by prestigious studio Dreamworks) and Bollywood!
Just when David Wosniak finds out that his girlfriend, Valérie, is pregnant, the 42-year-old
man-child discovers that he’s the biological father of 533 children. And then he learns that
the children have joined forces to have his sperm donor’s anonymity clause quashed. As
they continue their legal battle, the children try to get David to reveal himself voluntarily
by sending him a package containing their profiles. Overcome by intense curiosity, David
can’t stop himself from opening the envelope and finding out who his kids are. Without
consulting his lawyer, he starts seeking them out, incognito. Intense moments follow, each
one showing David another side of fatherhood.
Produced by André Rouleau of Caramel Films (Les doigts croches, Funkytown), STARBUCK
is Ken Scott’s second feature film. Scott co-wrote the script with Martin Petit. The film
stars Patrick Huard (David Wosniak), Julie Le Breton (Valérie) and Antoine Bertrand
(David’s lawyer).
