Principal Priorities by Dr. Richard J. Wede
• Parents/Guardians—Attached to this newsletter is the
fifth and last one in a series of parent NewsNotes from
the Office for the Protection of Children from the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The purpose of these publications
is to help all of us be more informed of the issues and
topics related to the abuse of children. It is our sincere
hope that by partnering together we can continually provide the safest possible environment for all our young
people to grow into healthy, Christ-filled adults. Additional resources can be found at the Virtus website at
http://www.virtusonline.org
and at the
school’s website: http://www.stpatswaukon.com
• 2011 Mardi Gras—Thank to everyone who helped to
make this year’s Mardi Gras a HUGE SUCCESS!!!
Whether it was your donation, attending the event, buying a raffle ticket, bidding on an item, the purchase of
an item or all of the above, your efforts made this year’s
event fantastic. Over $40,000 was raised to benefit St.
Patrick School and its students. Events such as Mardi
Gras assist in keeping the tuition affordable for all parents, providing them an opportunity to choose a faithfilled education. A financial statement and pictures for
this year’s event is on our school website
(www.stpatswaukon.com). Check under School Board/
Fundraising/Mardi Gras.
• Parent Group Chili Supper and Auction —This

Devin, sixth grade student, spent his noon recess during
one of the Catholic Schools Week school days, assisting
Dean Kipp, school custodian, in cleaning the sidewalks of
snow and ice. Devin definitely displayed the community
service that we strive to encourage among all of our students. Thank you, Devin, for your positive example
and helping to make St. Patrick School a great place to
be!!
St. Patrick Scrip Program
Many parents of both St. Patrick School and St. Patrick Parish CCD Program have taken advantage of the
incentive program, Remember grandparents and others
may purchase Scrip and have the incentive go to a certain student/CCD student to be used for tuition/
registration fees. Waukon Implement and Target
are now participating in Scrip.
