S t. Patrick School Newsletter ...Laying the foundation for bright and faith-filled futures. Color the World With God’s Love Volume IV Principal Priorities by Dr. Richard J. Wede • Parents/Guardians—Attached to this newsletter is the third of a five-part series of parent NewsNotes from the Office for the Protection of Children from the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The purpose of these publications is to help all of us be more informed of the issues and topics related to the abuse of children. It is our sincere hope that by partnering together we can continually provide the safest possible environment for all our young people to grow into healthy, Christ-filled adults. Future NewsNotes will be distributed during the months of January and February. Additional resources can be http:// found at the Virtus website at www.virtusonline.org and at the school’s website http://www.stpatswaukon.com • Jodee Blanco “It’s Not Just Joking Around” Program—On Tuesday, November 16th, all of our students and 28 of the St. Patrick School students who are now in 7th and 8th grade attended the bullying prevention program held in Decorah. Several parents and families attended the evening program and/or one of the student presentations during the day. The program was hosted by St. Patrick School and six other Catholic schools in NE Iowa. I personally want to thank our local sponsors who made the program possible. They include Waukon State Bank, Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank, Fidelity State Bank, Quillin’s Food Ranch, Fareway Stores Inc., Elliott Jewelers, Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Nesseim, and Knights of Columbus Council #1570. Staff will continue to work with students in follow-up activities to continually educate students regarding the harmful impact that bullying causes and to eliminate bullying at school. I would appreciate your comments and reactions to the program, from your personal thoughts, if you attended a session, or your child(ren)’s reactions. You may e-mail me at [email protected], call or stop in. • Wildcat Tracks—Hopefully, you enjoyed the Wildcat Tracks newsletter that you received last week. Mrs. Fahey and her sixth graders are working on a class project to revive the Wildcat mascot, promoting respect and pride in our school. Look for the Wildcat prowling the school halls in the future. One of the goals is to instill positive values in our students—values such as respect, accountability, and going the extra mile. Wildcats are fearless and will stop at nothing to succeed. • Building Campaign—Thank you to everyone who has donated to the school building campaign. As a result of everyone’s efforts, almost $152,000 has been donated and/or pledged thus far. That is over 60% of the goal! With the wet weather last week, staff and students appreciate having dry classrooms this year. Thank you!!
