Elite Brochure 2/13/07 3:16 PM Page 1 Ted Dent Video Session/Lecture There will be three (3) sessions with Ted Dent focusing on what it takes to be a professional hockey player and the commitment level that professional athletes have at the AHL, and NHL level. Ted will also show the players some video breakdown from games in the AHL this past season. There will also be an open floor discussion on College Hockey Scholarships, and the process of obtaining a College Scholarship from a player’s point of view. Both Ted and Paul both played College hockey and understand the process of obtaining a hockey scholarship and the process involved in College hockey. All of these items will be discussed with the players during the classroom sessions. Team Meeting Team Meeting - There will be a team meeting before every on ice session to establish what we want to accomplish during that session. The drills and activities will be explained in detail so there is no time wasted when we get on the ice. On Ice Session We will use a wide range of advanced drills to work on puck skills, shooting and stickhandling. We will also introduce different types of team systems that these young players are starting to be exposed to. The drills we use to teach theses different systems and skills are the same ones that we use at the American Hockey League Level (AHL) and the NHL. Small game scrimmages will also be used in confined areas of the ice to build confidence with the puck in tight quarters and learn how maneuver in small areas. There will also be special attention paid to conditioning and the ability to handle large work loads. • Power skating each day to reinforce balance and agility • Stick handling and shooting drills that will challenge and push each player • Flow drills to include – 360 degree turns, puck protection, shooting in stride • The fundamentals of a 2x1, and 3x2 from a defensive and offensive standpoint • Small game scrimmages 1x1, 2x2, and 3x3 in confined areas to work on protecting the puck, how to use stick on stick effectively, and proper positioning from a defensive standpoint. Enrollment (who can register) Peewee or Bantam players that are currently or will be playing travel hockey for the upcoming season can enroll. Players must submit a letter of recommendation from their coach along with the registration form attesting that the player has reached the skill level high enough to take part in this program and has the work ethic and dedication to better himself as a hockey player. We are accepting 15 Forwards, 8 Defensemen, and 3 Goalies for this camp. This will give us enough players to run high tempo drills and be able to provide some structure to the 5x5 play the players will participate in.
