6.1. Moore Republican Women

6.1.1. Thank you to Mariann Benway for representing MRW at the last Board meeting when I
was away.
6.1.2. In June at our luncheon, MRW featured Clare Lopez, an international expert on
Terrorism. We drew 50 members from the community in addition to 110 of our members.
6.1.3. Our literacy project at Robbins Elementary saw members donating over 100 books and
$700 to provide 160 students in the 5th grade with their own books. The National
Federation of Republican Women featured our Literacy Project in its August newsletter.
6.1.4. On Sunday, August 10th, from 2 - 4 pm. at the Village Hall in Pinehurst, MRW will hold
a workshop on How to Speak to Your Liberal Friends. Guest speakers are: Becki Gray of
the John Locke Foundation on Conservative Principles; Ken Benway on Grassroots;
Bonnie Dougherty on Common Core; Maureen Krueger on Immigration; Neil Oakley on
Big Government.
6.1.5. MRW will kick off its 300 Club at the August workshop. Funds will support our military
outreach, education outreach and candidates.
6.1.6. Troopon, an effort to help military families by collecting manufacturers' coupons will
begin at the next meeting.
6.2. Moore County Republican Men

6.2.1. Moore County Conservatives - MTC, MCRP, MCRMC and MRW - have met and agreed
on 9 Priority Public Policy Issues by which to track and hold accountable our elected
officials. They are:

4. HEALTH CARE

6.2.2. Descriptors of each issue are being finalized and will be publicized on our organizations'
websites, used for radio spots and editorials, and to educate on conservative values via
social media.
6.2.3. In other news the MCRMC annual golf outing raised $10000 for our candidate fund. This
year we intend to contribute $20,000 to candidates at the Federal and State Legislative
and Judicial levels.

Guest Organization Commentsii
7.1.
Pinecrest HS Teenage Republicans – organizational status Robert Bahner
7.1.1. Robert Bahner didn't attend. John Rowerdink gave a report on contact he's had with
Robert. It's been requested to have this teenage group have a significant tie to MCRP.
Funds for their activities could be more easily handled than through a high schools
financial books.
7.1.2. Joan Thurman and Dick Kuehl volunteered to examine Plans of Organization at State and
National to prevent a voting age restriction from interfering with the desired linkage.
Pinecrest HS has 80 to 90 active members in their club. They are planning to assist in this
November's election.
7.1.3. Proper documentation for TAR (Teen Age Republicans) could encourage other high
schools to form similar school sponsored clubs.
7.2. Moore TEA Citizens

7.2.1. MTC acts as a conscience for all political organizations.
7.2.2. On Saturday, August 2,MTC celebrated their 5thAnniversary with a picnic in Cannon
Park. Rain dampened the turnout but not the spirits of those attending.
7.2.3. The next meeting will be August 18, 5:30 PM at Russell's Sea Food. Moore County
School Superintendent, Robert P. "Bob" Grimesey, Jr. will be the guest speaker as
confirmed by Ed Dennison, Moore County Board of Eduction.
8. New Business
8.1.
At the NCGOP Executive Committee meeting in Greensboro on Saturday, August 2, a
decision was made to endorse Mark Martin and the other Republican candidates in the
statewide judicial races. The vote was 125 for Martin, 11 for Ola Lewis and 13 who
abstained. Background of this vote, reasons, problems, conflicts, etc were reviewed by
Chairman Rowerdink. When we prepare sample ballots, we will implement this action.
When there are registered Republicans running against each other. MC Executive
Committee may or may not, by consensus, endorse one following the NCGOP example.
No action was taken at the meeting.
8.2. Approve new Precinct Chairmen
(West Knollwood, East Knollwood, and West End)

8.2.1. Bill Cochrane resigned as Precinct Chairman of West Knollwood. West and East
Knollwood have organizational problems and conflicts. For the foreseeable future,
Executive Committee was asked to approve Eddie Nobles as Precinct Chairman for both
East Knollwood and West Knollwood. This appointment was approved unanimously.
8.2.2. Gina Brown is planning to move into East Knollwood. She is interested in running for
Precinct Chairman after that move. In the meantime, Executive Committee was asked to
approve her as Vice-Chairman working with Eddie Nobles.

Gina's appointment was approved unanimously.
8.2.3. Ann Beth Simmons moved from West End and had to resign as Precinct Chairman. No
replacement has been identified.
8.3. Status of Headquarters office

8.3.1. It was noted there were two needs at the Headquarters. Refrigerator and Vacuum.
8.3.2. Volunteers offered to meet these needs.
8.4. Upcoming Public Forum

8.5. Campaign contributions

8.5.1. MCRP is limited to donating $1000 to ALL candidates running for federal offices. There
are two candidates for federal office, Thom Tillis and Renee Ellmers. During discussion
many factors were considered including not donating anything. It was moved and passed
unanimously to give $1000 to Thom Tillis on Thursday, August 14 when Thom talks to
MCRMC Luncheon.
8.6. Plans for Get Out the Vote (GOTV) activities
for November election.

8.6.1. Moore Tea Citizens and MCRP are having discussions to determine what activities could
be coordinated without infringing on one-another objectives and mission.
8.6.2. MRW and MCRMC are an integral part of GOTV activities. When Pinecrest High School
situation clarifies, they too have committed to provide man-hours to the activities.
8.7. Use of Social Media during 2014 election John Rowerdink
8,7.1. On Friday, August 8, at Pinehurst Village Hall, Eddie Nobles and Bill Cochran will
review Facebook and Twitter to Steering Committee to develop the use in GOTV.
8.7.2. The results will be incorporated into the Precinct Chairman Conferences scheduled for
September 9, 16 and 23. (Refer to §9.1)
8.8. Fund Raiser (raffle) – Proposed

8.8.1. Headquarters will need, for the four months preceding the November election,
communication equipment. Our budget could use an infusion of funds like the successful
raffle for two US Open Tickets. It is proposed to approve a raffle ending Election Night.
8.8.2. A communication package will be purchased and awarded as a package. There will be a
42" smart TV, a laptop computer and an all-in-one printer-scanner. This three-piece
package will cost about S1200 plus taxes and a few accessories. Added to this will be the
cost of printing raffle tickets. The ticket design and printing will be similar to the US
Open tickets but modified based on that experience. Our treasurer said the numbering
was an unnecessary expense and a Zip Code needed to be added. Lydia and Dee Park are
responsible for this redesign.
8.8.3. Raffle Tickets will $12.00 each or two for $20.00. Plan is to print 400 tickets for income
of $4000 less $1500 cost giving a profit of about $2500.
8.8.4. This project is not in the budget and Executive Committee approval was needed to
proceed. Moved and seconded the project was approved without objection.
8.8.5. Hal Mendelson and Lydia Boesch will execute the purchase of the package. Lydia will
advise when tickets are available to sell. EVERYONE must sell to make this fund raiser a
success.

8.9. 2015 Reagan Dinner
8.9.1. A date will be set to ensure availability of Pinehurst Country Club ballroom.
8.9.2. A committee will be appointed to obtain a prominent speaker to achieve the financial
results achieved this spring.
9. Old Business
9.1.
Precinct Chair Conference – Linda Jarrett was unable to attend. John Rowerdink
reiterated the contents of his July 30 letteriii on this topic.
10. Other Business
10.1. Representative Jamie Boles was asked to comment on the ongoing legislative session.
10.1.1. There are reasons why the Senate and House are unable to agree on adjournment.
10.1.2. A push poll determined teacher pay was the top priority for preparing this years budget.
10.1.3. We must use the term "Hydraulic Horizontal Drilling" to recover hydrocarbons rather
than : "F . . . . . ." There are still many steps to be taken before drilling will start in North
Carolina.

MCRP Plan of Organization does NT include many Moore County associates, clubs, etc. even though those
organizations have similar goals. Executive Committees in the past have expressed their desire to welcome
comments from groups willing to share their ideas with MCRP. When approved by MCRP Chairman, reports
will be scheduled on the Executive Committee Agenda and comments included in the Minutes of the meeting.
