Let’s Get Ready
To…..
PICNIC
Saturday, June 27th
We will be holding our annual Summer Picnic at Sand
Hollow Winery again this year.
As always, this will be a fun
event for everyone involved.
This year’s theme will be:
Backyard BBQ!!
The picnic will be a potluck
with the club supplying the
meats and accoutrements
(buns, condiments, & other toppings); But if you have a favorite BBQ sauce, Bring it along so
we can all try it out! What we
really want from y’all is the
great side dishes & Desserts
which make this type of event
amazing– casseroles, hotpots,
cheesy potatoes, chips, jello salads, Cobblers, pies, cakes, cookies. Feel free to let your imagination run wild, though please
email me with what you will be
bringing. I’ll circulate a sign-up
list so we can get a delicious
variety from all our amazing
cooks. Knowing this club, I’ll
be able to happily go into a
food coma which will require
500CCs of peach cobbler. STAT!!!
Your input is needed. Jim Young, the vintner
at Sand Hollow Winery would like an idea of
which wines and how many of them our “little”
group might like to indulge in during our Summer
Picnic. This will greatly help him out in knowing
how much and what varieties to have on hand, as
he will also be open for business to other customers. So please look over the list below & email me
an idea of what you would prefer to order and
how many bottles. If you could do so by Wednesday, June 24th, that would be GREAT!!
Red Varietals $16.50/bottle $6/glass
Barolo - pleasing & intense w/aromatic notes of
violets & oregano. Crisp acidity, firm tannins.
Castel Del Papa - intense deep-red color, medium acidity, rich & full aromas of nutmeg & cocoa.

explosion of red tree fruit & red berries flavors
Girls Night Out - smooth 75% Cab/25% Merlot

A Rock ‘n Roll
Elvis Weekend
at THE Saunders Resort
Right on the water
$100 Per person with 2 per bed
$50 deposit/person required immediately
We are going to one of our old “favorite” Ski
Club Party Places for the weekend- Saunders!!!
This is going to be a Rock and Roll Weekend
with the Presence of "Elvis Presley."
We are planning a lot of fun events and you
may dress as Elvis and for the ladies, you may
dress as one of the women from any Elvis movie.
There will be a costume contest, with prizes for
the "Best Dressed". This will be on Friday night
at our Elvis Dinner along with our Famous
"Wine and Cheese Party”. We will also be serving Elvis's favorite alcohol drinks, along with
singing Elvis songs. We are going to get to act
like we are still "teenagers"; so join us for a
weekend of Fun, Food, Fellowship, and, oh yeah!
some Wine.
We also will be doing Golf and Bike Riding
on Saturday morning, before going to a winery in
the afternoon. Saturday evening we are planning
to go to a place downtown so we can all dine together, but at "your own expense". As we all
know this is a Party Island, so please come
PARTY WITH US!!
Currently, there are 2 available spots which have
opened up for the weekend. Also a possibility of
up to 6 spots for just Saturday night has arisen; if
you are interested in joining us for Saturday only,
please let me know you are interested.
The trip must be paid in full by the June 27th
Summer Picnic. Your deposit is fully refundable
until July 1st at which point part or all may be
forfeited unless you find your own ski club member to replace you on the trip.

Just in time for all
y’all mid-yearers,
Summer has sprung up to say,
“For your Birthday this year,
Have a heat stroke inducing day!!!”
We are always looking for the next great idea.
So, please tell us about Your Dream Trip or Activity! Another Activities Committee Meeting will
be announced soon; keep an eye out for the time
and date. So many great ideas, activities, & trips
have come out of these meetings; and we need
your help to keep that streak going. Please let
the Activities Director or any of the other Board
Members listed on page 5 know of your ideas so
that we can get onto going someplace where we
can have some FUN!!!!!! ;-}

TRUMPET IN THE
LAND
An Outdoor Drama performed at the
Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre
in New Philadelphia
Friday, July 31st @ 8:30p
After some good ideas & some research,
here is the new plan. The Schoenbrunn Inn
will be blocking 15 rooms off for the night of
Friday, July 31st. The Package deal for this
trip will be $120 and will include: a room for
two for Friday night, 2 tickets to the performance, and a delightful breakfast on Saturday
morning. To enjoy this GREAT DEAL, you
will need to call the INN at 330-339-4334 to
make your reservation, making sure you tell
them you are with the Newark Ski Club party.
Again, this is a non-treasury trip, so you will
be making your own reservations; the rooms
are only being blocked off until June 30th, so
please call as soon as you possibly can. To top
off this lovely weekend away, we will be visiting 2 local wineries on Saturday afternoon as
part of our meanderings home. This is gonna
be an amazing way to have some local fun
while gaining both historical and vintigal (is
that a real word?) knowledge that will make
you look really cool at parties!! Or at least ski club
meetings!!!

Just a reminder that if you
have any issues or concerns, we
would love to hear about them.
Please let any board member
know that you are interested in
bringing something before the
board. We will add it to the
next Board Meeting Agenda &
then you can present your ideas, issues, or concerns. Our
next meeting will be June 23rd
at Harbor Hills.
The Next 3 Happy Hours
The next two Happy Hours will be held
on Saturday evenings to allow everyone
to have a chance to attend without having any work conflicts, and the August
Happy hour has been moved to earlier in
the month. Mark your calendars!!!!
In June, we will return for some more
fun at the Wishmaker House Winery in
Belleville. They were sooo nice to us already and have such amazing food and
drinks, that we just gotta go back! The
plan is now to meet up on Saturday, June
20th. Violet & Jan will be hosting this
Happy Hour, so please let them know by
email at [email protected] if you can
make it. I am really bummed out that I
will be unable to revisit this great place
(& maybe even get to stay the night this
time!), but being back home in the Great
Smoky Mountains will just have to be my
consolation prize. If you haven’t checked
out this jewel of Central Ohio, this would
be a great time to do it!
The July Happy Hour will be at the
Buckeye Lake Yacht Club on Saturday, July 18th.The Cranberry Bog Tour has been
officially cancelled due to all the crap
going on out at Buckeye Lake, but we will
continue with the Happy Hour. This one
will require a reservation, so please email
me or call Ann Oliver to let us know if
you plan on attending this FUN event.
In August, we are going to stay with the
Buckeye Lake theme & return to Papa
Boo’s on Friday, August 7th. This earlier
date during the month is because I will
be out of the country for a sennight during the middle of the month & refuse to
miss 2 of my own events during the summer when I’m still living in town! Come
out & help us keep Buckeye Lake alive.
Remember, get Happy, Hour that is ;~}
