TheSanctuaryisrunbyDaphneSheldrickandissetinthegroundsofherhouse.Hereyouwillseetheorphaned
animalsandmeetthepeoplewhohandleandcarefortheseanimals.It’saninterestingexcursionandtheteamwho
runtheorphanagearealwayswillingtospendtimeansweringanyquestionsguestshavetoask.
Visitingtimesarelimitedtoapproximatelyonehourandarebetween11:00hrsand12:00hrsdaily.
FromherevisittheAFEWNature(Giraffe)CenternearGiraffeManorwhereyoumayhand-feedtheRothschildgiraffe
that live here. The giraffe were brought here by Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville, who founded AFEW (African Fund for
EndangeredWildlife)andbuilttheNatureCentertohelpeducateyoungAfricanchildrenaboutwildlifeconservation.The
Rothschildgiraffearethetallestspeciesandmayreacheighteenfeetinheight,butyoucanseeeyetoeyewiththemon
theelevatedwalkwayatthecenter.
Thereafter, drive to Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages for lunch at own expense. After lunch, visit the Karen
BlixenMuseum.
KarenBlixenMuseumwasoncethecenterpieceofafarmatthefootoftheNgongHillsownedbyDanishAuthorKaren
andherSwedishHusband,BaronBrorvonBlixenFincke.Located10kmfromthecitycentre,theMuseumbelongstoa
differenttimeperiodinthehistoryofKenya.Thefarmhousegainedinternationalfamewiththereleaseofthemovie
‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s an autobiography by the same title. A museum shop offers
handicrafts,postersandpostcards,theMovie‘OutofAfrica’,booksandotherKenyansouvenirs.
FromtheMuseum,youwilldrivetotheKazuriBeadFactoryandUtamaduniCraftCentre.Here,youwillfindawide
varietyofqualitybeadsandcraftsandsouvenirsinalovelyenvironment.Yousimplywalkin,telltheartistswhatyou
want,andtheytakeitupfrontforyou,whereyoupay.
Thereafter,youwillbedroppedoffatyourcityhotel.
