We had a very special holiday season this year, with both choirs performing at the Strand with professional groups – the Juniors with the “Christmas with The Celts,” and the Seniors with the River City Brass. It’s always a great learning experience for our Choir members to sing with professionals, and this year was no different. What a great start to the holiday season, with over 1800 folks from the York community in attendance at these two shows! Now it’s time to start the “regular” season. The music is memorized and the costumes are fitted, and our 220+ young singers are ready to share their talents with the York Community in a full winter and spring of events. Our Junior Honors Choir will begin its 11th season with a concert at Zion United Methodist Church on Carlisle Rd. on Saturday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m. The Senior Honors Choir kicks off its 15th anniversary season with a concert at St. John’s Antiochian Orthodox Church on N. Sherman St. on Sunday, February 17 at 3:00 p.m. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Be sure to check our website for the full listing of this season’s performances. We hope you’ll be able to join us for a concert soon. There are many special events scheduled for this year, including an overnight trip in April for each of the Choirs, the Juniors to Pittsburgh, where they will sing in Heinz Chapel with the Heinz Chapel Singers…and the Seniors to New York City, where they will sing at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and take in a Broadway show. This year’s Elementary Choral Festival, our 5th annual, will feature over 200 - 5th and 6th graders from all over the County in a day of learning and singing, culminating in a concert at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. Concert tickets will be available online starting two weeks before the concert. Check the website for details. We will share photos from these and other events in our next eNewsletter. Meanwhile, we wish you a good start to 2013. If you have any questions or comments, or would like to suggest any features to be added to our eNews, please email Beth Inkrote. We would be pleased to hear from you. Susan N. Each of our Choir members has one, and if you’ve donated to our organization this year, you should have received one in the mail. If you didn’t get one or would like a second one for your second car, or to put on your fridge, or to decorate your filing cabinet at work, or just to spread your support of the Honors Choirs by giving one as a gift, simply send $4 to our office and we’ll send you one. Please enclose a check (no cash) and let us know where to send the magnet. It’s that easy to become a supporter! Fall Campaign a Success! We are just wrapping up a very successful fall fund-raising campaign, and we’re pleased to acknowledge all of you who have supported us with your donations. We always say that we are blessed to have a large and enthusiastic fan base – and it’s great to be able to demonstrate that you are a generous group as well! Thanks so much for keeping us singing!
