MEET MARNIE OLD
MEET MARNIE OLD Marnie is one of the country's highest profile sommeliers and wine educators, and a breath of fresh air in the stuffy wine world. She is recognized for her common-sense approach to complex wine topics, her energetic performance style and her incisive and intuitive explanations. Marnie's first book, titled He Said Beer, She Said Wine, is a collaboration with acclaimed brew-master Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. A goodnatured debate on the topic of food pairing, it will be published in April 2008 by DK Publishing. Her second book, a collection of down-to-earth wine advice from leading experts and winemakers, will be available for the 2008 holiday season. Teaching is Marnie's passion. She is the Director of Wine Studies for Manhattan's renowned French Culinary Institute, under the department's Dean Andrea Robinson, television celebrity and Master Sommelier. Marnie has taught award-winning classes since 1997, and was the founding education chair for the American Sommelier Association. In partnership with the University of Delaware, she designed a ground-breaking wine course for long-distance learning, called Wine Online with Marnie Old. Marnie also teaches about beer, spirits, restaurant management and service. Marnie is the beverage columnist for Philadelphia Magazine, a beer columnist for luxe lifestyle website Gayot.com and a contributing editor for Santé magazine. Features on Marnie have run in the Philadelphia Inquirer, the New Jersey Courier-Post and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Her events have been highlighted in USA Today and the Wall Street Journal. She is recognized internationally as an expert wine commentator, most recently by Salon.com, the New York Times, Time Out New York and the UK's Fine Wine Press. OLD WINES LLC 710 CHESTNUT ST.
