In the Narthex! Prayer Intention Book At future Liturgies, prayers will be requested for all those intentions listed in the new PRAYER INTENTION BOOK, located in the Narthex of the Church. The Senior Group that meets on Wednesdays will also include those intentions in their weekly prayer. Feel free to write a name, a request, a thank you, or just simply “for a special intention” in the book. Prayer is so important, for all people, so let us keep praying for one another Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, August 2, 2015 Page 3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-Catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at 732-257-7722. MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with a priest at the Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and sisters, In September, Pope Francis will be visiting the United States as part of the Synod on the Family being held in Philadelphia. The visit will begin on Tuesday, September 22nd, when the Pope arrives from Cuba landing at Andrews Air Force Base outside of Washington, D.C. On Wednesday Pope Francis will visit with President Obama at the White House and in the afternoon will formally canonize Bl. Junipero Serra at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Thursday morning, September 24th, Pope Francis will address a Joint Session of the United States Congress, the first time in our history that the successor of Saint Peter has been invited to address Congress. In the evening he will depart Washington to journey to New York City. After arriving at JFK, he will visit Saint Patrick‘s Cathedral and preside at Evening Prayer. Friday morning, September 25th, Pope Francis will address The United Nations General Assembly and after this he will be at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. In the evening he will celebrate Mass at Madison Square Garden. Saturday, September 26th, Pope Francis will travel to Philadelphia to take part in the World Meeting on the Families. While in Philadelphia he will visit Independence Hall and the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul. Sunday, September 27th, the Holy Father will host a meeting with all of the Bishops of the United States. A Mass will be celebrated by Pope Francis at 4pm. on the front steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum and the large crowd is expected to fill the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SUMMER MONTHLY MEETINGS There will be one meeting in August which will be on Wednesday August 19th at 7:30 pm. CORPORATE MASS There will be no Corporate Mass held during the months of JULY AND AUGUST. FOURTH DEGREE MEETING The next 4th degree meeting will be held at St. Bartholomews, August 10th at 7:30 pm. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BUSINESS TO BUSINESS EVENT The B to B Event has been rescheduled from June 25th to August 6th due to conflicting events on that day. We will be setting up the cafeteria a day before on August 5th, we will need Knights to volunteer to assist in the setup you will be advised of the time to show up at a later date. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS YARD SALE SEPTEMBER 12, 2015 The Knights of Columbus are starting to prepare for their 2015 YARD SALE which will be held at St. Bartholomew’s on Sept. 12th from 7am to 2pm. We are looking forward to this occasion and will need volunteers from our Knights and Parishioners to assist us during this event. You will find an insert in the bulletin that will give you all the information about the Yard Sale. INSTALLATION OF NEW OFFICERS FOR K of C COUNCIL 11873 The installation of Council Officers for Our Council will take place at St. Bartholomew’s Church on Sunday September 20, 2015. Our Charter Dance will take place that afternoon at 4PM at the American Legion Hall in Milltown, NJ. We expect a good turnout of Knights at the installation and later at the Charter Dance. Ticket information for the Charter Dance will be forthcoming per our chairman Bill Logan.
