INFANT BAPTISMS
The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by
appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session
is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be
practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing
non-Catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a
Catholic Sponsor.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends,
family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic
Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition
who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy
Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish
program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This
program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other
Christian denominations who are interested in learning more
about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may
wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and
who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the
Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at 732-257-7722.
MATRIMONY
The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of
preparation. Contact must be made with a priest at the
Parish Center one year in advance.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK
The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the
anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick
and shut-ins upon request.
Please inform the parish
concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office.
If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the
Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral
Staff may visit.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS
OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE
SICK AS WELL AS THOSE
MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN
THE ARMED FORCES
Word came this week that our beloved Sister Marita Catherine
has died and gone to her rest in Christ. I first met Sr. Catherine
in 1992 when I arrived at Saint Bartholomew for a pastoral
year before ordination. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Sister, knows what a joyful spirit she carried throughout
her life. Her ministry to the ill and infirm formed the center of
her life and her calling to aid the suffering was a wonder to
behold. Who can forget her laughter, dancing, her strong and
good heart. These last days so many people have stopped by to
share stories of her ministry, Sr. Catherine made such an impact on countless lives.
She was a devoted friend to so many, too many to list here, a
special love for Msgr. Alliegro who created the ministry for
her and allowed her to remain here at the parish after her community had left the school. Msgr. Alliegro always made sure
she had a good car and plenty of gas, because you never knew
where her ministry would take her. These last few years Sister
has been convalescing at Camilla Hall, the infirmary for the
Immaculate Heart Sisters. There her deep devotion to daily
prayer and the Eucharist filled her days. She was a power
house of prayer and to see her at Daily Mass and at Adoration
of the Blessed Sacrament was to witness the heart of a disciple.
It was this love for Our Lord and His People that directed her
life as a Sister Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
One of the gifts she gave me is a testament to friendship, I
know that Sr. Catherine would want me to share this with all of
you:
“I wish you all of life’s most beautiful things,
Good health, laughter,
Love, happiness, contentment,
and Friendships that fill your
Heart with Joy.
Thank you for being my friend.
Our times together are treasured
in my Heart.”
Rest in Peace, dear friend. May flights of Angels sing thee to
thy rest. Amen.
