Company Overview
Schuh opened its first store in Edinburgh in 1981. Since then, the company has grown
significantly and now has a retail network of over 100 Schuh stores and Republic concessions
across both the UK and Ireland.
Schuh’s original philosophy was to offer aspirational but
accessible fashion footwear, sold by friendly, knowledgeable
staff, in a unique and exciting retail environment, at prices which
represent value for money.
Schuh is now widely recognised as one of the most innovative
independent footwear retailers, both on the high street and online,
with more than 100 brands in stock.
How Parcelforce Worldwide
has made a difference
Parcelforce Worldwide handles up to 4,000 parcels per day.
Around 75% of these are collected from Schuh’s distribution
centres in Livingston and the west midlands, with the remainder
collected from Schuh’s retail stores across the UK.
As a successful multi-channel retailer, Schuh needs to be able to
pick and dispatch customer orders extremely quickly from any
location. Parcelforce and Schuh IT teams worked closely together
to fully integrate label generation within Schuh’s order despatch
system. Labels are automatically
generated at the point of order
despatch and live tracking events
are used by Schuh to generate
various customer emails and SMS
alerts as well as populating
Schuh’s customer order
administration and live help
programmes with tracking
information. Collection requests
and end of day manifests are also
taken care of by the integrated
system making this a smooth and seamless process.
In addition to shipping orders from anywhere in the Schuh store
estate, Schuh also wanted a solution that would enable their
customers to shop until 10pm at night for next day delivery
and to be able to shop at the weekend for Monday delivery. The
Parcelforce team were able to deliver a bespoke solution that made
this possible for Schuh and this has been an important factor in
helping keep Schuh at the forefront of multi-channel retailing.
