I-55 Corridor Update
The Municipality Assistance Committee has made great strides in taking the I-55
Corridor Plan from one that was far reaching and over bearing to the land owners
in its coverage as well as residential developers and builders to a plan that, while
still under revision, is more in keeping with current codes and practices. We feel
that the door has been opened for this committee to become a sounding board and
source for information by these municipalities in the future.
As published on the Madison County website please be aware that the Edwardsville Plan Commission will continue its review of the proposed I-55 development
code on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 7 PM at the Edwardsville City Hall, 118 Hillsboro Ave, Edwardsville, IL 62025. The Glen Carbon Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing to hear comments about the proposed regulations on
Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 7 PM at the Glen Carbon Village Hall, 151 North Main
St, Glen Carbon, IL 62034. The Madison County Zoning Board of Appeals is expected to continue its review at a later date.
The HBA, locally and nationally lost a
great leader, in Herschel Johnson.
It is said that the true measure of a great
leader is the willingness
to place the needs of
others above their own.
Great leaders truly care
about those they are
privileged to work with
and understand that the
true cost of leadership
comes at the expense of
self-interest.
Herschel exemplified this definition of
leadership. Each of us saw his devotion
and dedication to the home building
industry, not only on a local level but also
on a state and national level, and to the
people who work in the industry. He
“volunteered” countless hours to help
make our industry a better place to earn a
living and homes a better place for families
to live. Whether you were new to home
building or a veteran, Herschel always had
time to talk about the issues facing us and
the direction things needed to go. He
helped make our local HBA a strong and
respected voice on the local, state and
national level.
To recognize his dedication, commitment
and leadership, The Golf Committee is
renaming our annual golf event the
Herschel Johnson Golf Classic.

and services.
Don’t miss visiting The New American Home - NAHB's show home – which highlights new products and
techniques. See cutting-edge efficiency, technology and sustainability, all set in a contemporary style home with stunning
desert view.
And now you can see even more of what the building universe has to offer in one trip through Design & Construction
Week® (DCW). DCW features the co-location of the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) and the National
Kitchen & Bath Association’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS). Registered IBS attendees have access to the exhibit
floors of all DCW shows.
A Universe of Knowledge: Education
In addition to the must-see products and exhibits, IBS also offers the most up-to-date and innovative education the
industry has to offer. The show features 100+ sessions in 10 tracks, taught by renowned building industry experts from
across the country. With topics ranging from sales and marketing to construction and codes, there is literally something
for everyone.
You can also go in-depth with pre-show courses that can count toward an industry designation, or hands-on with demos
and education on the show floor. You won’t find a more impressive collection of knowledge and new ideas for
improving your business anywhere else.
Universal Experiences Shared: Networking
From The House Party to the Spike Concert, you’ll have a blast at exclusive IBS events inside and out of the
convention center. The Centrals are the place to get new ideas and information about your specific niche. Open to all IBS
registrants, the Centrals are the hubs for lively programs, demonstrations and hands-on workshops. In addition to meeting
and networking with others in an enjoyable, relaxed setting, the Centrals feature some of the industry’s top professionals
who are passionate about their area of expertise – so the discussions are always enthusiastic, entertaining and fun!
