Is 40:1-5, 9-11
The desert is where God transformed a group of rebellious
persons into His People, His Chosen Race. Moses led them
and the Lord made them His own. In the desert there is
little water, food or other necessities for life, yet the Lord
provided food and water for His people, He defended them
and guided them. In the collective
memory of His People, the time of the
Wandering in the Desert was always
the best of times.
El desierto es el lugar donde Dios transformó a un grupo
de personas rebeldes, las transformó en su pueblo, su raza
elegida. Moisés los condujo y el Señor los hizo suyos. En
el desierto hay poca agua, alimentos y otros artículos de
primera necesidad para la vida, sin embargo, el Señor proporcionó comida y agua para su pueblo, los defendió y los guío. En la

During the Advent Season, we are
again called to spend time in a “Desert”
to be alone with the Lord and allow
Him to transform us. It means to be
alone and quiet with Him. Consider
taking a half hour with the Lord here in
the Eucharistic Chapel, alone and quiet,
He will speak to your heart. Let go of
the rush of the world around you and
do nothing, but be with Him. The Lord
longs to reveal himself to you so that
you can know both Him and yourself.
Let Him inspire you, let Him transform
you, for it is impossible to meet the Lord and remain the
same. Many persons say that this is the busiest time of the
year, with so much to “do”. Let go of 30 minutes to be
Him and see the difference. If you cannot come to the
church, make another place you desert, just be alone in the
quiet and you will meet Him and yourself. GK

14th. On December 21st the group will meet at Our
Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles at 9:30
a.m. for their annual Christmas Field trip. NO Meeting on December 28, 2014 due the Christmas Holiday weekend. Sessions will resume T 8:30 a.m. on
the Feast of the Epiphany, January 4, 2015; and the
Rite of Acceptance will take place on January 11,
2015. Enjoy a Blessed Advent.

Thank you for Thanksgiving Day

About 1,800 persons celebrated at one of our two
Thanksgiving Masses. We are most thankful to the
Youth Choir that led the singing at both Masses. Then
the Confirmation Community served as ushers at the
10:00 AM Mass. The Vega Family from the Sinaloense
Market who donated the hundreds of breads that were
distributed to all who attended the 10:00 AM Mass. The
Nigerian Community for their very moving
“Thanksgiving” procession. Thank you to all who made
it possible to experience Heaven here on earth. GK

Thank you for your patience; to make the scanning of the cards
easier, as of the 7th of December, scanning will be
done as follows:

held at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., The Office of Restorative Justice, Archdiocese of Los Angeles, joins
Women Against Gun Violence, Newtown Action Alliance,
Brady Campaign local chapters, Violence Prevention Coalition of Greater Los Angeles, and many other groups as we
remember all victims of gun violence.
In Los Angeles, the L.A. Gun Violence Prevention Network
will ask our communities to participate in our #LightLA campaign. All over Los Angeles, citizens will gather in their
neighborhoods, schools, and places of worship to light candles
on December 11th at 7pm, both to remember those lost to gun
violence and their community vigils to Women Against Gun
Violence’s facebook page and to Twitter with the hashtag
#LightLA, and to commit to taking small simple steps to reduce gun violence. Action items will be listed on the Women

escaneo será hará de la siguiente manera:
1. Todos los estudiantes que tienen sus tarjetas,
las escanearán en la puerta sursureste de la Iglesia
(la puerta donde ponen la las bicicletas). Una persona
estará ahí con el escaniador inalámbrico.

Here are some simple guidelines for parents, guardians,
and grandparents to employ to make sure that children
have a safe and happy visit with Santa’s helper: When
your child is with Santa’s helper, consider encouraging him or her to stand next to Santa or sit
on the floor between his feet rather than sitting
on his lap. Let your child know that it’s okay to
tell Santa what he or she wants for Christmas but
that he or she should also tell mom and dad because they are also Santa’s helpers… Secret surprises are special but no adult should ask a child
to keep secrets from the child’s parents. Make
sure that the Santa visit is out in the open—or make sure
that parents, guardians, and grandparents are included in
the interaction.
