The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is here and I hope everyone is enjoying the celebrations. Don’t forget the grande finale which is the Virtual
Pilgrimage at 8:00 Monday night in the main church. Two days later, the
13th, is Ash Wednesday and we enter into Lent. The schedule for Ash
Wednesday and all of our Lenten liturgies is in today’s bulletin and on the
website along with the Lenten regulations regarding fasting and abstinence.

It is not your imagination: Lent and Easter come very early this year.

Because of that and with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes falling in February

we have had a crowded calendar since the beginning of Advent. We owe a
huge thank you to all of our volunteers who have helped and continue to help
to plan and execute all the liturgies and events during Advent, Christmas, the
10:15 am
Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and, now, Lent. They have done beautifully.
In light of the how “active” we have been I invite the parish family to
spend Lent in a more contemplative spirit. Let us give the “Martha” in us
some time to rest and allow the “Mary” in us the time and space to bloom.
Lent begins with the readings of Jesus going out into the desert before he
begins his public ministry. Even during his public ministry he would often go
off alone to pray: to spend some quiet time in communion with his Father.
Perhaps we could “do” less this Lent and create space and silence in our
daily routine so that we can enjoy sitting at the feet of Jesus. We might add
an extra Holy Hour to the week, maybe doing the second one at home in the
garden or a favorite peaceful place of ours. We might spend some time in
spiritual reading, especially with the Bible itself. Whatever we do may it gently lead us away from distraction toward attention to our Lord’s loving presence.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
La Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes ya está aquí y espero que todos estén disfrutando de la fiesta. No se olviden de la gran final, que es la Peregrinación Virtual a las 8:00 de la noche este lunes, 11 de febrero, en la Iglesia.
Dos días después, el 13, es el miércoles de Ceniza y entramos en la Cuaresma.
El horario para el miércoles de Ceniza y todas nuestras liturgias cuaresmales
están en el boletín de hoy y en la página web junto con las normas relativas a la
Cuaresma como el ayuno y la abstinencia.

No es su imaginación: la Cuaresma y la Pascua han llegado más temprano este año. Por eso y la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes que caen en
febrero hemos tenido un calendario ocupado desde el comienzo del Adviento.
Les debemos un gran agradecimiento a todos los voluntarios que han ayudado y

Lenten Prayer Vigils 2013
From Feb. 13th, Ash Wednesday, to March 24th, from 7am to 7 pm, our parish will join other parishes in prayer
at “ A CHOICE FOR WOMEN”, the abortion center located at 6660 S.W. 117th Ave. Miami FL. We will be
there 12 hours every day to peacefully pray for the end of abortion and for the respect of all human life. During
all masses on the weekends of Feb. 16/17 and 23/24, ministry members will be outside the church ready to take
your pledge to pray with us every TUESDAY of Lent.
We will need many to fill those hours for 40 days. The idea is to blanket that place of death with continuous
prayer, even during days/times when they are not open. There is no better place for our parish to reflect on the
sufferings of Christ during this season of Lent. With our rosaries and our prayers, this will be our Calvary on
117th Ave., where Christ is being crucified every time one of God’s precious babies is aborted. Please join us!
40 DIAS POR LA VIDA
Vigilia de oracion para la Cuaresma 2013
Desde el 13 de febrero, hasta el 24 de marzo, entre las 7am y 7pm, nuestra parroquia se unirá a otras parroquias,
en oracion frente al centro de abortos “A CHOICE FOR WOMEN” localizado en el 6660 S.W. 117 Avenida,
Miami, Fl. Estaremos orando pacíficamente por espacio de 12 horas cada día pidiendo por el fin del aborto y por
el respeto de toda vida humana. Durante todas las misas del 16/17 y 23/24 de febrero, miembros del ministerio
estarán afuera de la iglesia para atender a todo aquel que quera anotarse y ofrecer sus oraciones junto a nosotros
cada MARTES de Cuaresma.
Necesitaremos muchas personas para cubrir todas esas horas durante los 40 días. La idea es cubrir ese lugar de
muerte con un monto de oraciones continuas, incluso los días y horas en que estén cerrados. No hay mejor lugar
para que nuestra parroquia reflexione acerca del sufrimiento de Cristo durante este tiempo de Cuaresma. Con
nuestros rosarios y oraciones, este será nuestro Calvario en la 117 avenida, adonde Cristo es crucificado cada vez
que un bebe es abortado. Por favor únase a nosotros!

En celebración de la Fiesta de nuestra Patrona y como obsequio a nuestra comunidad, la Parroquia
de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes en Kendall, los invita a un Peregrinaje Virtual al Santuario de Lourdes, en Miami!
Reciba Indulgencia Plenaria otorgada por el Santo Padre en honor al Décimo aniversario de la
Fundación de los Voluntarios Norte Americanos de la Hospitalidad de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
para aquellos que van en peregrinación al Santuario de Lourdes en Francia o viven la experiencia
de Lourdes en un Peregrinaje Virtual.
Toque la roca de la gruta de Lourdes y el agua procedente del Santuario, participe en la adoración
