We have some exciting
new goals proposed for the
next year and I would like to
take a minute to highlight
just a couple of them.
First, we recognize
that some excellent
ideas, recommendations, and suggestions
are out there among
our members just
waiting to be tapped into.
In an effort to help the
membership more easily
developing a suggestion
form for our website. All
positive and constructive
feedback is welcome. No
idea is to large or to small,
2011 GAR Directors
March, 2011
so feel free to share your
ideas, questions or concerns.
We will notify you by email
and in the newsletter when
the form is live and ready for
your input.
Secondly, with the help of
our Special Events/
Hospitality Committee, we
are hoping to add a more
personal touch to our “In Our
Thoughts and Prayers”
emails.
These are just a couple of
the new goals we have for
2011 and we hope
you are as excited
about them as we are.
I have included a
complete list of our 2011
goals at the end of this
article.
Also, I would like to thank
everyone who attended the
GAR 2011 Inaugural Meeting, in Amelia Island last
month. We had over 25
members and spouses in attendance. I know it is some-
times difficult to get away,
especially with the current
economy and I thank all of
you for this special effort.
Don’t forget our upcoming
courses which include the
Accredited Buyers Representative Course, (ABR) Mar 2122; Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternative (HAFA)
Short Sales–ABR Elective,
March 30; and the Certified
Negotiations Expert Certification Course (CNE) on April
20-21.

Government Affairs Committee Update
Gainesville attorney William "Bill"
Rogers, Jr., was recently named by Gov.elect Nathan Deal to be the new
commissioner of the Georgia Real
Estate Commission. Rogers became
a partner of Whelchel & Dunlap,
LLP, in 1976 and practices in real
estate and banking law.
Rogers was admitted to the State Bar
of Georgia in 1971 and is a member of
the Gainesville-Northeastern Bar Associa-
tion, serving as president from 19881989. He has also served on the Executive Committee of the Real
Property Section of the
State Bar of Georgia.
Rogers is a past president
of the United Way of
Hall County as well as the
Kiwanis Club of Gainesville
and as past director of the
Gainesville-Hall County Chamber
of Commerce.
Also, just a brief note on the work of the
Tax Panel set up by outgoing Governor
Perdue. Their recommendation to lower
income taxes in Georgia, lower corporate
tax rates and re-instate a 4% grocery tax, is
a ‘positive step in encouraging new
businesses to move to Georgia.

President’s Message (Continued)
In closing let me share with you my
President’s Charge for the coming
year: Go and live in peace, encourage
the timid, support the weak, and show
unending patience with every one. Do
not repay evil for evil, but hold fast to
what is good. Aim always at doing the
very best for each other and for all
people. Be joyous always, pray continually and at all times and in all
things never cease to give thanks.
