Rexroth has over 30 years experience in applying servo motion controllers (CFS, CCS, CLM and
Optifeed) for Cut to Length systems. With IndraMotion for Metal Forming, Rexroth continues this
tradition of reliability that is even more scalable and
powerful for increased performance.

IndraMotion for Metal Forming
Rexroth offers scalable control solutions for Cut To
Length Lines and Press Feed solutions. The use of
uniform hardware and software of the Indra automation kit.
The Metal Forming and IndraDrive function libraries offer a range of motion and control functions that
can be used to create economical controls for Cut to
Length Lines. These uniform functions can be employed in various control form factors.

Redundant controls provide a very-short 2msec
response times, which are required for today’s machinery with high accelerations and speeds. Modes
such as safe drive lockout, - safe operational stop, reduced speed, - safe direction, etc and direct control
of the safety door lock plus background wire pulse
testing, increase safety and productivity.
Advanced Building Blocks
Rexroth offers advanced and read-to-use building
blocks ranging from functions for basic and complex
motion to preconfigured solutions. These uniform
building blocks of the Indra platform allow you to
effectively create modular and distributed machine
control solutions. They can be combined with various control and IndraDrive form-factors.

Cut to Length applications vary by machine type. Flexibility and scalability with re-use of existing engineering is
essential to stay competitive. The Rexroth IndraMotion MLD-M (the multi-drive system with up to 8 axes) or a
combination of IndraDrive, IndraMotion MLD and IndraControl L/V is ideal for today’s cut to length lines.

Scalable Control Architectures
Rexroth’s scalable Indra platform provides economical solutions. In the example below, IndraDrive can provide
up to 160kw and operate VFD, servo and high-end servo axes. In the case of MLD-M, the motion and machine
controller reside in the master axis IndraDrive. The Ethernet based SERCOS III network provides precise synchronization of I/O and motion. Optional fieldbus /Ethernet in the master axis enables connectivity to supervisory
machine control systems as required for the application.
