Stage 4: Fresnay sur Sarthe - Saint Léonard des Bois - 12 Km
Returning to the heart of the Alpes Mancelles, pass
through Sougé le Ganelon before arriving at Saint
Léonard des Bois. If you are looking for thrills,
make a detour via Saint Georges le Gaultier where
you can take a bungee jump from the viaduct high
over the valley!
Saint Léonard des Bois in the Alpes Mancelles is
full of surprises, with the hills and valleys of the
surrounding countryside explaining why this region
calls to mind the foothills of the Alps.

Returning to Mamers via Alençon, stop off at La
Fresnaye sur Chédouet and visit the bike museum «
La Belle Echappée » to relive the Tour de France

The road back to Mamers goers through the
Perseigne forest with its belvedere (viewing
tower), the highest point in the Sarthe.
A small detour via Saint Rémy du Val and Vezot
will allow you to take in part of the “green way”,
the Voie Verte du Saosnois.
On arriving at Mamers, book in for a night or two at

Stage 1 : Mamers - Beaumont sur Sarthe - 27 km
LA FRESNAYE SUR CHEDOUET
Don’t leave Mamers without first making a tour of the
town using an audio-guide, available from the Tourist
Office. Then head in the direction of Le Mans through
Courgains (medieval defensive motte) and Dangeul
(Priory of Mayanne) where you take the road to
Beaumont.
At Vivoin visit the priory, a superb example of the
restoration of an 11th century building.
Dating from the Middle Ages, Beaumont sur Sarthe
makes a pleasant break in the journey with its castle
dominating the river and delightful public gardens to the
rear of the Mairie and the Tourist Office.

Stage 2: Beaumont sur Sarthe - Sillé le Guillaume - 21 km
Head for Sillé le Guillaume, passing through Ségrie, Pezé
le Robert and Saint Rémy de Sillé.
On arriving at Sillé le Guillaume park at the forest
campsite, starting point for a number of walking routes.
Dominated by the massive presence of its castle, Sillé is
also a major leisure and activity centre based around the
lake at « Sillé Plage ».

From Mamers to the Alpes Mancelles, via Beaumont and Sillé, this 130 km
circuit takes in a variety of countryside: forests, hedgerows, farmland, pretty
villages, all criss-crossed by the river Sarthe and its tributaries.
Stage 3: Sillé le Guillaume - Fresnay sur Sarthe - 17 km
Drive through the forest towards Fresnay sur Sarthe.
At Montreuil le Chétif, notice the bell tower of Notre
Dame church which stands guard over this characterful
little town.
Make sure you take in the public gardens and enjoy the
panoramic view.
