The Adranetta E. Weimer Scholarship
4-H Incentive Program
To 4-H members:
A decade ago Bill Weimer and wife, Kathy, decided to invest in your future by establishing an endowed
scholarship program in his mother’s name. He grew up in 4-H and knows first hand how full participation
positively affected his life and, consequently, the lives of those around him. For the scholarship, they
chose to focus on a life skill, communication arts, that Mr. Weimer has found invaluable in his work as a
career educator and very successful businessman.
The purpose of the Incentive Program is to broaden participation and quality in 4-H contests that enhance
communication skills resulting in youth who are well-spoken, articulate, and poised. Scholarship money
may be the reason members get started in the program, but the growth in communication skills is the real
benefit.
This opportunity takes work, but any worthwhile endeavor requires you to invest time and effort. It is not
a “winner takes all” scholarship but everyone who does the work reaps the rewards. Hanover County is the
only 4-H program in the Commonwealth to offer this opportunity.
Bill and Kathy Weimer have invested in your future; now invest in yourself.

HANOVER COURTHOUSE
COMMUNITY 4-H CLUB
Members: Archer Long, Madison Long, Haley Barber,
Emily Pavey, Sibyl Harrell
Our club has been busy during the last
few months doing fun things and good
In December, we visited the residents at The Alpha House in Ashland to deliver some
Christmas cheer! The nurses and residents joined us in singing holiday songs and getting in the Christmas spirit. All of the members of our club enjoyed bonding with the
residents and look forward to going back.
Also in December, we went to the Hanover Courthouse to get ideas and start
planning out our ornament that was to hang on the tree in the Extension Office. We
found red magnolia seeds, moss and bark to decorate the ornament with. It turned out
to look just like the Courthouse. We are very proud that we used natural things found
on the lawn of the actual Courthouse to make our ornament with.
In February, our club helped the residents of The Alpha House in Ashland to
celebrate Valentine’s Day. We all took stuffed animals and homemade Valentine’s
Day cards to the resident Alzheimer’s patients. We all had a great time and made a lot
of the residents happy. We can’t wait to visit them again!
In March, we participated in Share the Fun. We performed a group Epic Pat-a
-Cake with a lot of coordinated hand clapping with each other. We won a blue ribbon
with a score of 100 and the judges’ favorite!
In April, we participated in the 4-H Paper Clover Campaign at Tractor Supply. We held a bake sale at the store in Ashland. The patrons of Tractor Supply were
awesome and helped us out a great deal. We will give a portion of our donations to
The Alpha House!

RICHMOND, Va – Ashley Hawkins, Executive Director of Studio Two Three, is teaming up with
LUNCH and SUPPER and Feedmore to celebrate
all things pork for at the Big Pig Project fundraising event. Pigs became an iconic symbol for
sister restaurants LUNCH and SUPPER, so participants were asked to purchase a 100lb. concrete
pig and commission an artist to decorate it. All
pigs will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting Studio Two Three and Feedmore. The Big Pig
Project Festival is Saturday, April 18th from
12pm to 6pm on Summit Avenue
