please make an appointment and I

one or the other in order to go to
the Achievement Day in May.

The LSU Agricultural Center is a statewide campus and provides equal opportunities in programs and employment.
Junior Leadership Conference
This conference is for 4-H members who are 14 years or
older. It will be held from March 11-13. It does cost $85
plus there will be a small charge of $5-$6 for the bus. It
just depends how many ride. This is a great opportunity
to learn some leadership skills. You get to pick a track
and learn some new skills. Plus you will make a lot of
new friends. It is a really great opportunity.
Deadline to register is February 22, 2016. Cost has gone
up to $85. If you want to go, please come by the office.

March Contest: Portfolio Contest
Now is the time to complete your portfolio for contest. This
will be the last contest that you will have to turn in for this
year. You do have to turn in a completed 4-H Project book
if you are 4th and 5th grades. Older grades: you may just
need to complete 6 activities—double check.
You need to be keeping track of everything that you have
participated in for this year. How many contests did you do,
shooting sports, livestock shows, horse shows? Did you
win any awards? Are you serving as an officer?
You can do the form online as well. If you don’t have a
computer and need a paper copy, please let me know.
This will be due at your club meeting.
Co-op Youth Leadership Conference
Youth in 8th-12th grade are invited and encourage to attend this conference. It will be
held April 8-10 at Camp Grant Walker. This is
a very hands-on conference where you role
play a cooperative business.
You are able to earn a cash prize or a trip for
being a top leader. This is a great way to learn
leadership skills, make new friends, and have
fun. A talent show is held one of nights plus
there are dances, movies, pizza both nights.
The best part is that it only costs $30.
Deadline to enter this conference is March
14th. All paperwork (including registration
form, health forms) and payment must be in
the 4-H office by this deadline.
4-H University
If you are at least 13 years of age or older, now is the
time to start thinking about going to 4-H University. It
will be held the June 21-24, 2016. It is a great opportunity to enter a contest. There are many to choose
from and you may win a trip. There is also Clover College. We are on the LSU campus so it’s a great way to
see the college. Lots of fun to be had. Think about going.

Camp. Our week to camp
this year is June 27-July
1, 2016. I’ll be mailing
out the information soon to
your homes. Camp is always a great time to make
new friends, learn new skills, and enjoy being outside. Plus they do have a talent show during the
week. It’s a great time to swim, do arts and
crafts, see movies, dance! Look for information
to be out pretty soon.
Treat others with respect, follow the Golden Rule, use good
manners, be considerate of other people’s feelings, don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone, deal peacefully with anger, insults and
disagreements.
Be respectful when you are at home, school, church or especially in your 4-H club meetings.

Winners of the Beef Poster Contest
1st place in the 7th-9th grade division was Cameron
Smith of the Homeschool Club. Great job Cameron. Your
poster heads down to state.
Parish Ambassador Contest will be held March
30th at 2:00 pm. There are many categories to
choose (sugar, egg, crawfish, etc) You pick one
aspect and do a talk. Winners go to state. More
information will be coming. Think about entering.
I know the week of March 25th-April 1 is your spring
break so I have come up with a few activities.
March 26th Pet Show 10:00 am Location to be announced.
March 29th Still working on a special activity: maybe
another movie day, bowling or roller skating

March 31st Public speaking contest in Rayville; this is
with Richland 4-H.
3rd Annual International Night is fast approaching. I wanted to get this out to everyone so you can start thinking about what country you would like to do.
We’ll hold it Monday, March 21st from 5-6:30 pm. I think this year is the year that
we open it up to the public. Yeah!! Let me know what country you would be interested
in doing. Again, a poster display on your country, finger foods, decorating your table
and possible having items or dressing how they dress there would be great.

I want to give a huge thank you and shout
out to the Homeschool 4-H Club. I had
asked if any clubs would be interested in
helping out and getting donations for the
Regional Leadership Board’s community
service January project: Birthday in a Box.
They did over and above. Thank you so
much for the wonderful donation.
Thank you to Fort Necessity 4-H club for
their donations to the community service
project as well. It was greatly appreciated and I know everything will come in
handy.
