Even though it’s early days
for the season, our crowds
and ticket sales have also
been very successful, which
puts us in good stead for
the rest of the year.
Annual Community Festival
a huge success
There was a huge turn out once again for the Annual
Eels Community Festival with 6,500 Members and
fans of the #blueandgold showing their support for the
Dyldam Parramatta Eels 2015 campaign.
It’s the chance for the Blue & Gold Army to get up
close and person with the team as they mingle, sign
autographs and take plenty of pictures!
CEO’s Report
The Parramatta Eels have once again seen an
overwhelming amount of support from the Blue and
Gold Army across the start of the 2015 season.
At the time of publication, we’ve already seen an
increase in Membership of more than 20 percent from
this time last year, and many of them include new
Members who will be part of our club for years to come.
Especially exciting was seeing our premium
Membership, the Captains Club, sell out for the first
time before the season had even kicked off.
Even though it’s early days for the season, our crowds
and ticket sales have also been very successful, which
puts us in good stead for the rest of the year.
We’ve had plenty of encouraging feedback about our
new initiatives on game day and with fan engagement;
we take all of it on board and use it as part of our
commitment to bringing the best game experience to
everyone who supports the Eels.
Our club is seeing growth and positive changes in a
number of areas across the business, the most notable
being with the development of the Old Saleyards
Reserve site in North Parramatta as the new training
home of the Eels.
Since the players held their first session there in
March, it marks the first time in the Eels’ history that
our sides have a dedicated facility at which to train,
and it will eventually become the home base of our
entire club.
2
Eels forward David Gower was excited to meet the fans
and knows the importance the Blue & Gold Army plays
in home and away matches during the season.
Brad Arthur is doing a great job with our football side,
and I’m very excited about the future direction of the
Eels both on and off the field for the rest of this season
and for the years to come.
Another of our exciting initiatives within our
Membership department is the “Just One More
Campaign”. Put simply we want you to pass your
love and passion for the Eels on to your friends and
encourage them to become Eels Members. Or if you
have mates who are always talking about being fans
but are not members – get them involved. But this isn’t
just all about the Eels, the person who recruits the most
members will win a Tata Xenon Ute. So get hunting
Members and become our top Recruiter for 2015.
Lastly, but certainly not least, I am very proud to
introduce to you the Inaugural Eels Member Council.
Our Inaugural Eels Member Council is the first of its
kind in the NRL and another example of how the Eels
are leading the charge in Member engagement. This
diverse group of supporters have already met several
times and are providing us with invaluable feedback on
how we can make YOUR Parramatta Eels even better.
Welcome aboard guys and thanks for your commitment
and dedication to the Eels.
“It’s always good coming out and meeting the fans.
I know we have a big fan base, but to see everyone
turn up this morning even though it was raining, it was
awesome” Gower said.
Blue and Gold Captain Tim Mannah echoed his feelings.
“We spoke earlier about how important it is to see
everybody here and how great it is to play here with a
full house. It’s these people that are really the core of
that and the guys that you see year in year out that keep
turning up even during the tough times,” Mannah said.
“These guys, we can’t thank them enough for what
they do, so it’s our way of showing how appreciative
we are of them and how grateful we are for their
support” he added.
Thanks Blue & Gold Army for your support
of the Annual Community Festival!
Remember, we are ALL a part of the Blue & Gold Army.

We’ve noticed the
increase in the Blue &
Gold Army in the crowds
this year and it has been
inspiring for the boys.
Coach’s
Report
The 2015 season is in full swing and we’ve already
seen some good performances from our players
on the field - but we’re in it for the long haul.
I’ve been very impressed with our boys’ attitude
and camaraderie in the start of the season,
they’ve all worked hard for each other and are
taking on the year with plenty of pride in their
jerseys.
We’ve suffered a few injuries early on, but that
hasn’t dented the boys’ confidence. They’ve
still played with courage and heart and it gives
other players in our squad a chance to prove
themselves.
We’ve noticed the increase in the Blue & Gold
Army in the crowds this year and it has been
inspiring for the boys; when they run out there’s
always a big cheer to keep them going.
I know our Members and fans always give a
little bit extra encouragement to our side and
continue to support them week in, week out.
Thank you for your ongoing support, we play
every week for our supporters and will continue
to do our best to make our fans proud.

Eels mark historic
anniversary with
Legacy Partnership
This year on Anzac Day, the Blue and Gold will run
out in a unique jersey to take on the Brisbane Broncos
at Suncorp Stadium. The jersey will feature Legacy on the sleeve,
a space donated by our principal partner, Dyldam.
In recognition and remembrance of all Australians who served
and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations, and
our service men and women, the Eels will also donate $10 from
every jersey sold to Legacy.
Premium Membership

In 2015 we have seen huge growth in our Captains Club

as an intimate function with the NRL squad and Coach

Blue & Gold Army
to take the field
Official Coaches Partner for 2015
season of the Parramatta Eels

jersey when we take on the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium. The
design harks back to our last premiership in 1986 when we
defeated the Bulldogs 4-2.

collar, a new feature for Parramatta Eels NRL jerseys which
will see our incredible fans take the field with our team!

Eels Launch
Inaugural
Member
Council
In an NRL first, our ground breaking Member advisory
group will meet regularly to discuss a variety of topics,
with Members giving their feedback and opinions on fan
experience related aspects of our Club, covering game
day, Membership and events.
We received hundreds of applications to be part of the
Eels Member Council in 2015, and we have selected 20
Members to be part of the Council in its first year.
Selected from a range of our Membership categories
these Councillors include Blue & Gold fans from the
South Coast, Canberra, Brisbane and Port Macquarie.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
It’s a good opportunity, a good chance to have an
input with the club beyond being a fan. And to provide
insight into how the club can progress going forward.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I guess my goal is to improve fan engagement,
because that covers everything.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
It’s nice to be more invested with the club.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I hope to have some input into the club and how we
can be better rewarded as Members and vice versa.
Graham Coleman Winmalee

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I’m a long time supporter of the club, from back in
the Mick Cronin days. I think it’s important to increase
and retain the young people from all the codes.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
As an avid Eels Member, I saw this as a great
opportunity for me to contribute to this exciting
initiative. I believed I could provide relevant feedback
on behalf of Eels Members, offering a different
perspective as a working mum with a young family, a
season ticket holder and local.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
Developing unique and relevant Member experiences
that lead to record breaking Member acquisition and
retention numbers.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
Mainly I just wanted to be able to have a say in what
Members get and also the game day experience. I’ve
always felt passionate about it. When you see what
some of the other sports do like baseball and soccer
it would be great to be able to bring something like
that to Parramatta. It’s something I’d really like to see.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I’m hoping game day at Parramatta can be a better
experience. I believe more people would become
Members because of what it could be. Lots of friends
that I have are Eels fans but are not Members for
different reasons. If I can help implement changes to
get those guys to sign up, I’ll feel I’ve done a good job.
Matt Hollier Member for 9 years

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I’m pretty active online (on 1EyedEel) and I feel it’s an
opportunity to bring those discussions and ideas to
this forum.
MEMBER COUNCIL
Ricardo Ascenso
Cherry Fratto
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
One of my concerns is the core base of membership.
To foster younger members, we want to hold up
the passion. We also need to compete against the
different codes.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I hope that this group can provide real feedback that
the club can act on.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I wanted to be involved because of the love of the
Eels I have had since 1963. I wish to contribute to
input with the club and Member experience.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I hope to help the club with Member experience,
feedback and be a conduit between Members and
the club

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I live in Parramatta, I was born on Hunter Street just
down the road. I’ve been a tragic from way back. The
1986 grand final was my first experience watching
the game live. I was sitting near Kylie Minogue
before her ‘heyday’. It was a great experience and
unfortunately our last major title. Since then I’ve
always followed Parramatta.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I’ve got a couple of ideas in terms of game day
experience. Such as vending and drinks and trying
to make it a full day, rather than just going to watch
the game and leaving. NRL can learn a lot from
American football. They spend the whole day at the
event. If there are some ways you can make it a full
day, I think that builds excitement and creates some
really good fan base.
Michael Lomardo West Pennant Hills

Captains Club
Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I’ve been a Parramatta supporter for such a long
time and a Member for the past 5-6 years. I hope
I can give something back to the club that I have
supported for so many years.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I hope to achieve a better game day as well as
season experience for Members and season ticket
holders. It will depend on our role and relationship
with the club and how realistically the Members will
be listened to.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I initially applied to be as involved as possible with
the club.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
To promote interactions with fans and the team,
to give feedback on match day and fan experience
and to discuss the way we can be the benchmark of
Australian Sport.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I applied to represent the Members in the council
because I bleed Blue and Gold.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
To have more of a connection between person and
product, between us as punters and the business. I’m the
only guy from Queensland, so the fact I got selected is
pretty special. We’ve got so many fans in Queensland.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I’m very passionate about the Parramatta Eels.
I’m a dedicated and loyal supporter. I travel from
Sutherland to Parramatta for every game. I want to
see the Eels do well this year. I applied to become a
council Member because I want to make a difference.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I want to try and maximize the number of Members
that Parramatta Eels can have. I want the Members
to have their say and be heard. I would like to be a
good representative of the club.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
It’s time to make a contribution. I’m a long time Eels
supporter and I would like to make some positive
contributions, that’s why I put my hand up.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
To make it a positive experience for everyone going
to the game but most importantly to increase the fan
base. I believe there is still a large group we haven’t
explored to try and get the fan base to its full potential. I
think this is a very positive move by the club.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
I find it hard to come to games, so I just want to
contribute to the club in a different way. I think it’s an
interesting concept.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I’m coming in with an open mind. I want to be a
Member of the council to be more than a fan and
contribute more.
Steve Ryan

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
Basically to help drive Membership. I really enjoy being
a Member and now that I am I could never not be one!
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
Definitely more Members, more continuing Members
as well. I know so many people who are die hard fans
but are not Members, and they should be!

Why did you initially apply to become one of the

Just to give something back to the club and the
supporters.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I hope to improve benefits for all supporters – Member
benefits are a big thing and so is game day experience.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the
candidates to represent the Members in the council?
So I could positively contribute to the club – I’m
passionate about the Eels. Anyway I can add value
and insight is very close to my heart.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
I think the more clubs do this in general, it creates a
stronger game and stronger club. It’s not just about
clubs competing now it’s about other codes. If I can
help make Parramatta a stronger league club then
we can have a stronger link between the Eels and the
community.

Why did you initially apply to become one of the

I’m that passionate about Parramatta! Being from
out of town this was one thing I could do to give
back to the club.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
To make a difference. My main hope is to improve the
Membership experience and the game day experience
for all members and supporters. I’ve seen some great
things in my time as a Member and some doozies!

The members of our group are all season ticket
holders, so I’m bringing that mob’s ideas and views
to the table. We’re a hard-core fan base.
What are some of the things you hope to achieve

Probably to make the whole experience more family

children.

What are some of the things you hope to achieve
as a result of this new Member Council?
If I can contribute some ideas that will make the
game day experience better, then I think that’s an
achievement. That’s what brings people to the grounds,
not just the football but the experience around it.

more than just confidence I am excited. I am inspired by

This vision is bold. This vision

However, the NRL and the Club

We may not get there. But for

The Territory: The Eels return
The Dyldam Parramatta Eels are currently in year two of a four
year partnership that sees the Parramatta Eels play a trial game
in Alice Springs and a competition game in Darwin each year.
There are three pillars that underpin the agreement - Rugby League Development,
Community Relations Programs and Tourism & Marketing.
The Eels have developed a number of Rugby League Development programs including
an U/16’s schools competition the ‘Eels Cup’ as well as a number of coaching courses and
support of the Northern Territory Institute of Sports Rugby League program. Most recently
we have signed our very first player through the Northern Territory Rugby League system
to a three year deal – we look forward to seeing William Nugahra playing in Eels colours for
many years.
The Northern Territory has become a home away from home for the team with over 1,800
members based in the NT.
In early February the Blue and Gold took on the Wests Tigers in their first trial match of
2015. During the week in Darwin the Eels took the #NRLwellbeing message to Alice Springs
as part of the NRL Community Carnival, visiting over 20 schools and the Alice Springs
Hospital. This year, the message behind the Community Carnival was designed to show the
positive impacts healthy eating, physical activity and mental wellness can have.
Dyldam Parramatta Eels prop Tim Mannah couldn’t wait to hit the ground running in Alice
Springs and with each visit to #eelsterritory, the Northern Territory feels more and more like
a second home for the Eels.
“We had a great time here last year, the town really embraced us and in our second year it
felt even more like home.”
