"q I Pase 3 DHUM Nurserv School Newsletter Mrs. Rogenmuser & Mrs. Wolf 4&5DayClass We are enjoying your children very much. They are having a great time working and playing together. The boys and girls are learning to be good listeners at circle time. As you can see from Parent Visitation Duy, they are like little sponges ready to absorb everything we give them. It is amaz\nghow many new things they have learned this vear. December is a short month. So much to do and not enough time. We will be busy little elves making some very special holiday crafts and surprises for mom and dad. The Teddy Bear Tea is a special day that puts a smile on all their sweet little faces. We will continue to work on strengthening our fine motor skills, and fine tune our listening skills. In January we will learn about the changes the weather brings and how animals prepare for the long cold winter. The cold weather brings new challenges for the children - hat, gloves, and heavy winter jackets. Please help your child learrt to put his/her jacket on and learn to zip it. Don't forget to label all belongings. We will continue to refine our fine motor skills by cutting and making sure we have proper placement of fingers in the scissors (thumb in the small hole, 2 or 3 fingers in the larger hole). The big challenge is opening and shutting them and cutting on a specific line. A good practice exercise to do at home is to snip the ends of old paper and cut coupons. Please encourage your child to write their name with a capital letter first then lower case letters, ex. Debby. Pay close attention to proper pencil or crayon grip. The boys and girls are doing a greatjob and working hard. will continue our work with rhyming words, opposites, and working with numbers 1 - 10. We will also begin to introduce the alphabet. We will be very busy! We We would like to thank you for all the support you have shown us. We appreciate your generosity when asked to send things in. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Peaceful New Year! Pase 4 D.H.II.M. Nursery School Mrs. Burwell & Mrs. Hayes 2 Day Class Your children have made great progress. They are sharing, taking turns, sitting during rugtime, and being kind to their friends. We continue to work on cutting and gluing. If you have children's scissors at home, it would help if you let your child cut out coupons or pieces of paper. Remember their thumb goes in the small hole and 2 fingers in the large one cutting with their thumb up. December will be a busy month. We will have our Teddy Bear Tea and Christmas Party. The children will be making many Christmas crafts and a special gift for the parents. In January we will be working on identifuing and tracing their names, counting, cutting and identifuing colors and shapes. We will also learn about the winter season and how animals and humans handle it. We would like to thank you for all of your help and support and hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year! Once again, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. Mrs. Burwell & Mrs. Solev 3 dav class I can't believe December is here already! It was great to see you all during Parent Visitation Day and hope you enjoyed our rugtime routine. It is a small part of what we do in class. Your children have come a long way since September. They are sharing with their friends, sitting and listening during rugtime and being kind to their friends. We are working on recognizingtheir names, tracing names, cutting, counting and recognizing colors and shapes. If you have children's scissors at home, it would help if they could cut out coupons or draw a line on paper and have them cut on the line. Remember they need to place their thumb in the small hole and 2 fingers in the large one cutting with their thumb up. December will be very busy. We will be creating many Christmas projects and a special gift for the parents. We also have our Teddy Bear Tea and our Christmas Party. Page 5 DHUM Nurserv School Newsletter will be filled with many activities to help the children get ready for kindergarten. Once again if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year! January Mrs. Ryan & Mrs. Crawford 4 Day a.m. Class & 3 day p.m. Class In the month of November, the children shared photos of their families and we talked about how families are all different. We talked about how Thanksgiving means "Giving Thanks" and the children shared what they were thankful for and where they would be having Thanksgiving dinner. The children really enjoyed preparing for our feast. We made turkeys, headbands, placemats and necklaces using our handprints and the shape square. Thank you to our parents and grandparents who came in for Parent Visitation Day and helped make our Native American necklaces. The children looked great at our feast and they had a wonderful time. We also want to thank all the parent volunteers for sending in items for our feast and to the parents who came in to prepare the food. We really appreciated your time. December will be full of activity. We will be singing songs and finger plays, making many crafts and decorating our room so it will look great for our Teddy Bear Tea. Mrs Claus will be stopping by for a visit, so please remember thatyour child needs to bring in their favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal on Teddy Bear Tea Day. Some of the subjects we will talk about at circle time are the Nativity, Giving, Santa Claus and Rudolph. We will continue to have fun with colors, opposites, same and different, patterns, rhyming words, numbers and the shape star. We will also keep practicing the writing of our names and the names of all the letters in our names (in and out of order, forwards and backwards) and working on our writing, coloring, gluing and scissors skills using the correct grip. We will be sending home more H.W. (homework) papers. Please have your child do these "the best that they can" and return paper to school. Pase 6 D.H.IJ.M.
