The waters of Baptism make us part of the new covenant in Christ. But the Bishops’ pastoral letter on
stewardship reminds us that “there is a fundamental obligation arising from the Sacrament of Baptism…that
people place their gifts, their resources – their selves – at God’s service in and through the Church.”
Our Lady’s Lenten dinners and Stations of the Cross began Friday, February 27, 2009. All are invited to
have a light dinner from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm in Connor Center followed by Stations of the Cross in the
Cathedral. The hosts of the dinners are the boards and committees of the Cathedral parish. There is no fee.

The youth mission trip for 2009 is to Chicago, June 13-21. We are sending 18 high school and 6 adults
from our parish. Please keep this mission team in your prayers as they plan and prepare for mission work this
summer. If you would like to support our Young Neighbors mission team, the cost is about $600.00 per
person for the week. This includes meals, lodging, work supplies, transportation and insurance. We are very

ACCW Scholarship
The Oklahoma City Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women funds a $500.00 scholarship to a senior high
school student of their affiliated parishes. To qualify, a student must possess and maintain a 2.5 grade point
average or better and/or pass a college entrance exam, show a record of community and parish volunteer
service, and show financial need. To obtain an ACCW Scholarship application, please contact Dixie Stake, 401

receipt of the application is April 15, 2009.
The 30th Annual Mexican Dinner benefiting the Mount St. Mary Key Club is scheduled for Sunday March 8,
2009 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm in the Mount St. Mary High School cafeteria. All are invited to enjoy
dinner catered by Chelino’s, the cost is: children 12 and under $5.00 and adults $10.00.

First Sunday of Lent, March 1, 2009
“Dead Man Walking” author Sister Helen Prejean will be the guest speaker at the Annual Dinner for the
Oklahoma Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. Sister Helen’s book, nominated for a 1993 Pulitzer Prize,
was on the New York Times Best Seller List for 31 weeks. The film adaptation received four Oscar
nominations. Sister Helen is the founder of “Survive,” a victim’s advocacy group in New Orleans. She also
continues to counsel not only inmates on death row but the families of murder victims as well.
The event will begin at 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Connor Center. Sister will be available
at 5:00 pm to autograph books and meet attendees. All are welcome to attend. The cost is $40.00 for adults
and $17.50 for students. Reservations may be made by calling 239-2454.
St. Patrick’s Ball – tickets and corporate sponsorships are on sale now for the 2009 St. Patrick’s Grand
Marshal Ball scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
while you bring hope to homeless families. All proceeds of the Ball benefit a new day center for the homeless

Come and See Weekend March 28-30, 2009 at Conception Seminary College is a trip for young men in high
school who would like to visit a seminary. This is an excellent opportunity to meet seminarians who are

John Michael Talbot Concert
Singer John Michael Talbot will perform in concert Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 7:30 pm at Epiphany Church,
7336 W. Britton Road. Tickets are $15.00 in advance or $20.00 the day of the concert. Proceeds will help
rebuild the Little Hermitage Monastery home to the Brothers and Sisters of Charity, destroyed by fire in 2008.

Catholics Living Justice Day – March 17, 2009
The commission for Justice and Human Development is sponsoring “Catholics Living Justice Day’, a
citizen legislative advocacy event Tuesday, March 17, 2009. “Catholics are encouraged to come to the Capitol
to learn about advocacy, and the current legislative session. Participants are encouraged to invite their
legislators to join them for lunch.” says Sister Diane Koorie, Chair for the Commission. “It will be a wonderful
way for parishioners to learn how Catholic Social Teachings can make a difference in the lives of their fellow
Oklahomans.
A “Faith in Politics” workshop will begin at 9:00 am with presentation by Father Gallatin and Richard
Klinge, followed by a luncheon program at 11:00 am. Lunch will be provided for parishioners and their
legislators. Participants should make reservations for themselves and their legislators by March 13, 2009 by
calling 405-523-3003 or emailing [email protected]. Assistance to find your legislators’ name
is available at www.capitolconnect.com and click on Legislator Search on the left side.
The workshop will include presentations about the role of advocacy in politics, an overview of the
legislative process, current legislative issues, and the Gospel connection to political advocacy. “Participation in
public life is a moral obligation as taught by the Church,” states Koorie “and the Commission for Justice and
Human Development is working with Catholic Charities to provide these opportunities for Catholics to interact
with their state leaders.” The Commission for Justice and Human Development works in the Catholic
Archdiocese of Oklahoma City to promote justice and peace.
Father Stephen Bird, Pastor of Epiphany Parish will be leading a pilgrimage to see the famous Passion
Play in Oberammergau, Germany, May 17 – June 5, 2010. This Passion Play began in 1633 and is only
performed every ten years. Anyone interested may call Peter’s Way Tours, 800-225-7662. Reservations are
needed now. The pilgrimage will also feature other religious sites in Germany and Austria.

The Heritage Room, located in the Catholic Pastoral Center, 7501 N.W.
Expressway, Oklahoma City, is again open with all new exhibits in place. The
Heritage Room was developed as a part of the Centennial Celebration of the
Archdiocese in 2005 and has continued to be available to the public.The
exhibits are prepared/changed in January each year with the focus being on
the heritage and leadership of the Church in Oklahoma. This year’s
presentation includes information on Bishop/Archbishop Quinn, Rev. Stanley
Rother, Diocesan Youth, Bishops of the Diocese elevated to the episcopacy,
and also two parishes that comprise extensive history within the Diocese. The
Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help provided materials that developed
into their display and the same is true for the Church of St. Mary, Ponca City.
The Heritage room is available during open hours of the Pastoral Center.
People are encouraged to stop by the Center and visit the displays. Groups,
both young and old, may schedule a visit by attending Mass in the Chapel at
11:30 am, scheduling lunch in the dining room at 12:00, followed by a tour of
the building and the Heritage Room. Call 721-5651 and reserve your spot.
