Cathedral Cares About Your Health
From the Parish Nurse: Life with Anxiety
Anxiety disorders are real illnesses that are based on
extreme fear. They effect
The body causing chest pain hear t palpitations shor tness of breath, dizziness, stomach discomfort, nausea,
fatigue trembling, muscle tension, headaches, tingling in
the hand, feet or trouble sleeping.
Thoughts causing: exagger ated wor r y about ever yday life,, fear of dying, repeated unwanted thoughts,
nightmares or flashbacks, irritability, anger, trouble focusing, numbing of emotions, or anticipating the worst
outcome to a situation even though it is unlikely.
Behaviors causing: r ituals that seem impossible to
control, being easily startled, avoidance of people, places and/or things, limiting life experiences, inability to sit
still, easily losing one’s temper, or being snappy with
others.
COMMON TYPES OF ANXIETY DISORDERS
INCLUDE Panic disor der , Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Phobias, General
Anxiety Disorder and social Anxiety Disorder Tips for
tackling anxiety Call someone you trust. Let them know
that your anxiety has gotten the best of you and you
need their support. That may mean asking them to stay
on the line with you until you have worked through your
symptoms or coming over to keep you company and
help put your mind at ease. Do something physical. Take
a brisk walk, go up and down the stairs or do some
jumping jacks. Give your body a way to physically use
up some of its excess energy. Distract yourself, go
someplace quiet and challenge yourself to have an anxiety attack. Many people find that directly challenging
themselves to have an anxiety attack actually has the
opposite effect. Deep breathing can help. Belly breathing lie down and watch your belly rise and fall. Write it
down. Getting thoughts out of your mind onto paper can
be helpful. Make a to-do-list to organize your thoughts
Focus on the things you can control and take action.
Taking care of small things empowers you to take
charge when it comes to the larger things .

The Cathedral Community extends its blessings, prayers, and
congratulations to all our graduates. Heartfelt prayers for our
graduates thanking God for His blessings and faithfulness for
their time at school. May God continue to bless your academic
achievements and bless you on your journey.
As this chapter in your lives closes, so new ones begin. Graduation marks a remarkable day in the chapter of a person’s life. It is
not only the culmination of study, but it is a step of accomplishment and an invitation to advance forward, a moment when the
person has moved on in their journey.
May each graduate be a catalyst for future learning, new discoveries; and grant that those who teach and those who learn may
find the Triune God to be the source of their knowledge, wisdom
and happiness.
We have graduates from nursery, grammar, high school, college
and post graduate studies.
