Marian Baker-An imbreakable reed for her clarinet, plus an advanced
lesson book.
In September, 1942, our Freshman Class of 28 members was
organized with Miss Winne and Miss Iles as advisors. We were very
pleased with ourselves at first over the fact that we had "gone up-stairs"
but our first horror came in the form of an initiation. After the effects of ,,
this wore off we felt very important and elected the following officers:
President-Gerald Sanford; Vice President-Emelin Ruzycky; Secreta
ry-Larry Olmstead; Treasurer-Marjory Reedy. Our activities dur
,, ing the term were the sale of Christmas cards, a sle1igh ride in January,
and a movie.
As we becam e Sophomores, so did our importance rise (we thought.)
We elected Emelin Ruzycky as our new President; Vice President-
Velna Byrnes; Marjory Reedy as Secretary; Donald Mi ttler as Treasurer
and Patricia Lee as Reporter. With th ese new officers we really got
down to work. We sold pencils. wrapping paper, Christmas cards, and
a little candy (war restrictions, you know.) We also put on two movies.
Our activities were a littl e limited though, because Caesar k ept the most
of our time pretty well occupied. Miss Winne and Mrs. Matheson were
our advisors.
When our busy Junior year arrived, we elected Jane Swears for
President; Marjory Reedy for Vice President; June Sellers as Secretary
and Patricia Lee as Treasurer. During the year we sold pencils, candy,
and Christmas cards, as formerly, and also sponsored a movie called
"The Plainsman." Miss Winne was our only advisor.
September-1945 ! Imp ossible to believe- yet true! The lowly
Freshmen of '42 have become the impor tant Seniors of '45 ! We spon
sored movies every week and sold Christmas cards like mad people.
After all, this was our last year and we did hs.ve to leave a good impress
ion on our friend s. We elected the following officers: President
Ger ald Sanford; Vice President-Marjory Reedy; Secretary-Doris
McGowan; Treasurer-Mary Cunningham. M.iss Winne and Mrs.
Marks were our advisors. On Novemb er 9, under the direction of Mrs.
Heath. our class put on the play, "Almost Eighteen." This and our trip
to New York were the highlights of our year.
Now, as the time comes to say "good-bye" to B. H. S. there are
doubtless many of us who wo uld like to become lowly Freshmen again
just ready for the big climb. However, as we can't we do wish future

All three acts take place in the living room of the Barry home. E<ldie wants to go to a crooner's school, but his father, William Barry refuses to let him go unless he earns his own way. Eddie enters an essay contest using an eighteenth centmy essay as an example. Uncle George mixes t hem up and mails the wrong essay. Eddie finds himself in quite a confusing and trying situation but Uncle George comes to the r escue.
