FR- CARBON
FORMARED-CARBON is the elite apparel collection from Giordana. These
award-winning pieces consistently set the bar for technical advancement,
innovation and performance. FR-CARBON garments contour perfectly to
the body, forming a ‘second skin’ that makes every movement natural and
comfortable. The fabrics, features and level of detail in FR-C garments endow them with the fit and performance characteristics that other clothing
simply can’t achieve.

For 2012 Giordana expands its award-winning FR-C collection, adding
a new fit specifically engineered for the American cyclist. Introducing
FR-C FLEX, optimized to accommodate a wider variety of builds.
Like its predecessor, the FR-C Flex Jersey is built from premium level
materials, but utilizes them strategically within a modified panel design
to achieve a new, more flexible fit. Xpansion Channels™ at the cuffs adjust to snugly fit larger biceps without constricting. The rear shoulder
and waist paneling is designed to give with the rider, cloning the body
to maintain a true race fit.
The shape of the panels eliminates puckers and creases by ergonomically following the body’s contours. The sleeves, side panels and embossed shoulders are made of ultra-light Asteria™ fabric. Incredibly soft,
the material is 14% spandex for elasticity and utilizes a compact weave
for micro-compression. Gi27 is used for the front panel while Host Carbon™ is used for the rear panels. In back, Host limits the vertical stretch,
stabilizing the pockets to prevent sag when they’re loaded. Both Host
and the Ametista that wraps the waist have threads of carbon woven
through them, allowing the materials to be lighter, while maintaining
strength. Carbon has the added benefit of reducing electrical interference around internal organs. At the cuffs, Ametista is backed with
Antigua™ to form the Aerofix Gripper System™, which holds the jersey
perfectly in place with a seamless feel. Antigua is perforated to create
pockets of air next to the skin and to allow airflow to pass through.
The result is a light, breathable gripper that keeps the skin cool and
dry underneath. A micro-mesh insert under the arms allows maximum
breathability. A full CamLock™ zip in front has a garage at the bottom
to protect the materials from the zipper teeth and prevent snags. Three
rear pockets with a fourth CamLock™ zippered compartment allow ample storage. Logo branded elastic in back has silicone gripper beads on
the inside to hold the jersey in place. Reflective elements add visibility.
The FR-C Flex Bib Shorts share the features and
benefits of the award-winning previous FR-C version, but can be worn comfortably by a larger
segment of riders. A new bib upper system uses
a single layer of breathable Ametista without
the Antigua backing, which allows the straps to
stretch beyond previous limitations to accommodate longer torsos. At the back of the legs, Xpansion Channels™ adjust to snugly fit larger quads
without constricting.
The Flex Bib Short is constructed on a curve to
clone your body’s natural riding position throughout a range of motion. The shape of the panels
eliminate puckers and creases by ergonomically
following the body’s contours. HC-44™ high compression fabric provides precise fit, incredible performance and maximum comfort. A second fabric,
Ametista, uses carbon threads to control stretch
and reinforce the strength of the material, allowing it to be lighter and stronger. Carbon has the
added benefit of reducing electrical interference
from cell phone towers and power lines that can
negatively affect performance. Ametista is utilized
on the Giordana Core Contour System™ around the
waist where it wraps internal organs with protective carbon, delaying the onset of fatigue. At the
cuffs, Ametista is backed with Antigua™ to form
the Aerofix Gripper System™, which holds the bibs
perfectly in place with a seamless feel. Antigua is
perforated to create pockets of air next to the skin
and to allow airflow to pass through. The result is
a light, breathable grip that keeps the skin cool
and dry underneath. An anatomically shaped rear
panel of micromesh is treated to enhance moisture management and cut to conform to the body
on the bike. Four needle flat-stitched seams help
to control stretch as well as isolate muscle groups.
Reflective elements add visibility for safety.
Like all FR-C level bibs and shorts, the FR-C Flex
Bibs feature Giordana’s newest top of the line
Cirro OF™ insert. The revolutionary aloe-infused
pad cools, protects and heals in the saddle. As
part of the OmniForm line, the Cirro comfortably
contours to the body in motion and returns to its
original shape after every ride.

Over/Under Base Layers

An elite level in base layers is here. The Over/Under
base layers are made in Giordana’s Italian factory
and are designed to provide you with protection options to cover you throughout the year. These pieces
layer well or stand alone, depending on the conditions and specific needs. With these base layers
you’ll be covered in any season and any weather. The Over/Under panelling is carefully contoured to
fit like a second skin. This fit is designed to keep the
materials close against the body so that they can do
their job in regulating body temperature.
The Over/Under base layers are made of Polypropylene fabric for excellent wicking capabilities. The
fabric rapidly moves moisture away from the skin
and takes it to the outside layer where it instantly
evaporates so your skin underneath remains dry and
comfortable. The inner surface features a perforated
red texture. Cover-stitched seams lie flat for a sleek
and finished look. Light elastic at the cuffs and at the
waist keeps the garments perfectly in place throughout a range of motion on the bike. The Over/Under

Base Layers are the perfect garments for layering,
which is important for optimal comfort.
A new option in base layers is here. The Super
Light Weight base layers are Italian made and are
designed to provide you with yet another layering option. These pieces are made of Polypropylene fabric
for excellent wicking capabilities. The fabric rapidly
moves moisture away from the skin and takes it to
the outside layer where it instantly evaporates so
your skin underneath remains dry and comfortable.
The garments are constructed in a microblend performance fabric that removes perspiration fast and
dries four times faster than cotton. Dry-release is soft
to the touch, won’t shrink or lose shape and resists
pilling. In addition, it’s treated with Freshguard® to
neutralize odor fast.
These Sport base layers are available in three styles
to accommodate any climate or rider’s preference.
At the hem, there is only a very low-profile finish so
the garment can be easily tucked into shorts or bibs.

The Long Sleeve Dri-release Base Layer has a finished edge at the collar in piping and a soft elastic
cuff at the wrist.

Seamless Style Unisex Warmers
(S-XL)
Utilizing manufacturing processes used in the construction of seamless base layers, Giordana introduces an unbelievable collection of tubular knit
warmers. An advanced construction technique varies the density of fibers during the knitting process.
Certain locations utilize a closer knit for more protection or durability, while others require a knit for additional or directional stretch.
The pieces are knit ergonomically so the density
variations correspond with muscle contours and
produce a light compression effect on the surface of
the skin that promotes blood flow and can reduce
fatigue. These pieces are constructed of Dryarn™
fabric, a polypropylene material with excellent moisture moving capabilities to draw perspiration quickly
away from the body, keeping you dry and warm. The
few seams are four needle flat-stitched for durability
and comfort.
Arm Warmers
The Seamless Style Arm Warmers feature light and
soft elastic cuffs that adjust to the body for a snug fit.

A combination of two materials used in the
premium collections. Aerofix is a double layer
fabric comprised of carbon threaded Ametista on
the outside and soft perforated Antigua on the
inside. When used at the hem, the Aerofix Gripper
System™ is a breathable, seamless-feel gripper
that effectively secures garments in place during
exercise. UPF 50+
Aerostat™
A quick-drying mesh material that allows for maximum breathability. Aerostat is utilized primarily for
ventilation in key areas to keep the rider cool.
Ametista™
A 200 g/m2, certified power Lycra (36%) used in
the premium collections. Ametista is characterized
by woven carbon filaments, which give the material
a subtle striped appearance. Carbon incorporation in performance fabrics promotes feelings of
well-being in several ways. Electrical charges in
the atmosphere (for example, from cell phone
towers) can affect athletic performance by reacting
negatively on muscular contraction, the source
of cramping and fatigue. The special conductive
qualities of the carbon fibers absorb and dissipate
the electrical charges, preventing them from being
retained around the body. By protecting the rider
from these charges, the carbon lowers the concentration of lactic acid during activity and improves
blood circulation, delivering oxygen more efficiently to the cells. Carbon shields the body from
absorbing static energy, electrosmog and UV rays.
It is naturally antibacterial and inhibits the development of odor causing bacteria. The carbon fibers

A 135 g/m2 weight Lycra (22%), Antigua is the signature backing of the Aerofix material combination
used in the premium collections. The surface is
soft with small perforations that allow air to pass
through and the skin to breathe.
Asteria™
Incredibly lightweight at 140 g/m2, Asteria is an
86% polyester microfiber that utilizes a compact
weave of 40 threads per centimeter, which provides micro-compression and better coverage. This
fine knit incorporates 14% spandex for elasticity and has excellent wicking capabilities. Asteria
provides an ultra-smooth and aerodynamic surface
and is reserved for jerseys in the premium collections. UPF 50+
Chrono™
A nylon/Lyrca fabric used in bibs and shorts on
the sides and lower legs where support is needed
most. Chrono has less stretch and a higher compression rate to increase support and blood supply
to working muscles.
Dri-Release™
A microblend performance fabric used in base
layers for its unparalleled moisture transferring
qualities that move perspiration away from the
skin quickly. Dri-Release dries four times faster
than cotton, but retains a soft feel for comfort.
It’s very durable so that garments made with Drirelease resist pilling and won’t shrink or lose their
shape. Treated with Freshguard® odor control to
neutralize odor safely.
Gi27™
A new jersey material selected for its excellent
elasticity, wicking abilities and colorfastness, Gi27
has a multifilament polyester composition with
interlocking knit. The fabric is put through a special
hydrophilic treatment process to make it smooth
and enhance its softness, which makes it exceptionally comfortable next to the skin. Gi27’s structure and content of elastane ensures it stretches
and conforms to the body in motion and returns
to it’s shape after every ride. The elastane also
increases the rate of moisture movement, pulling
perspiration quickly away from the body to keep
the rider dry during exertion.
HC-44™
A 180 g/m2 nylon/Lycra made with extremely fine
thread and reserved for premium collection shorts
and bib shorts. HC refers to the fabric’s High
Compression rate, while 44 designates the number
of threads per centimeter in the knitting process.
Previously the highest possible thread count for
nylon/Lycra materials was 36 threads per centimeter. HC-44’s ultra compact knit translates into
performance and comfort advantages for the rider.
It is lighter weight, yet offers the performance
enhancing benefits of higher compression rates,
usually found only in heavier fabrics. The fabric’s
unique knit increases its wicking capabilities and
makes HC-44 softer and more supple than other
nylon/Lycra fabrics.
Host Carbon™
Host Carbon fabric is a 135 g/m2 weight material
chosen for its elastic composition that molds to,
and moves with, the cyclist in motion. It is highly

yielded Giordana’s best performance jersey fabric
ever. 100% polyester microfiber yarns move moisture off the skin more rapidly than ever before.
The unique miniature honeycomb textured knit
allows airflow to keep you cool. UPF 38+
Moovix™
A 210 g/m2 hollow microfiber material. Moovix is
a light weight certified power Lycra®. The unique
honeycomb knit structure enables equal stretch in
all directions, not just the two or four way stretch
of standard spandex materials. Its high stretch and
compression rate produces a micro-massaging
effect on the skin during exercise that can increase
blood flow to the muscles and delay fatigue. Its
high moisture moving capability further augments
the comfort that Moovix garments provide. Its
lightly brushed inner surface is smooth next to the
skin. An antibacterial treatment inhibits the growth
of odor causing bacteria in all Moovix garments.
Due to its high opacity Moovix, effectively protects
against UV rays. Moovix blocks 98% of UVA/B rays
achieving the highest possible UPF 50+.
Moovix Light™
Moovix Light™ shares many of the same properties and advantages as Moovix but in an even
lighter weight version perfect for the hottest summer conditions. UPF 50+
Moxie™
Moxie nylon/spandex fabric is a 210 g/m2 weight
fabric used in bibs and shorts. It is especially good
for printing as it holds vibrant color and will not
run or fade. Moxie is treated to promote fast
wicking and evaporation of moisture. This treatment means that perspiration will not be trapped
next to the skin, so riders will feel cooler and
drier. UPF 50+
Nilo™
A 145 g/m2 stretch fabric with a silky touch, Nilo
does the work of other performance fabrics, but
with a softer hand. It is ideal for use in women’s
collections because of its silky smooth feel and
vibrant colorfastness. The material provides ample
stretch to comfortably conform to a wide variety
of body shapes and sizes. UPF 50+
Shield™
Shield is a 240 g/m2 certified power Lycra that is
manufactured using exclusive super dull polyester
yarn, elastomer and the latest SUPER 40 generation weaving technology. It is an ideal fabric
to utilize for printed sportswear because of its
resistance to release color. Even after many uses
and washes the colors remain vibrant and won’t
run. Due to its special dense polyester yarn, Shield
offers opaque coverage even in white. UPF 50+
it blocks the elements, allowing excess moisture
to escape so the rider remains dry and maintains
a consistent body temperature. Sentry incorporates a unique hydrophilic membrane laminate,
developed specifically for the sports industry. The
membrane is distinctively different from classic
micro-porous membranes in that is has no pores.
Instead it achieves permeability via a special kind of
polyurethane molecular structure. Large distances
between the molecules and mutual forces between
the polyurethane and water molecules are optimal
for the function of permeability. When a molecule
of water vapor contacts the membrane, it is drawn
in and pulled through the membrane, for a time
actually becoming part of the membrane. Then it
is released naturally to the outside surface where
the concentration of water vapor is less. Micropores in classic membranes widen in stressed areas and over time lose their ability to block water.
In contrast, the non-porous structure of Sentry
remains practically unchanged even after many
years of use. Porous membranes become clogged
with salts and fats from sweat as well as pollutants
and detergents. In contrast, Sentry has no pores to
clog and retains its benefits year after year. Sentry
is incredibly compactable and extremely durable,
appropriate for the extreme conditions encountered on even the harshest ride. With a minimal
guaranteed resistance pressure of 20k mm water
column, Sentry is the last word in protection from
the elements.
Sentry ™

Supplex®
From DuPont, this nylon/Lycra blend combines
cottony-soft comfort with the gentle support,
superb fit and freedom of movement that only
spandex can provide. It is a practical fusion of
softness and stretch. Shield offers opaque coverage
thanks to the use of a special polyester yarn.
X-Fine™
An ultra fine micro-mesh with a soft hand utilized
for ventilation and perspiration management.
Zaffiro™
A 200 g/m2 certified power Lycra material used
in bibs and shorts for panels that contact the
saddle. Zaffiro is an innovative anti-abrasion fabric
that reduces friction during the pedal stroke. It is
manufactured using a unique multifilament polyamide, power Lycra yarns, and the latest SUPER
40 generation weaving technology. Its properties
of high compactness and density, as well as its balanced multidirectional elasticity, offer outstanding
durability. Engineered to continue to perform over
time, Zaffiro is particularly suitable for uses where
durability, comfort and performance are required.

The OmniForm™ family of inserts is made by Giordana in our
Italian factory. Our revolutionary technologies utilize HF™ (High
Frequency) waves and low heat processes during fabrication.
Both techniques avoid the high temperatures of other processes
in shaping the channels and bonding the layers. Because OmniForm pads are formed without intense heat, there is no damage
CIRRO O.F.™
The Cirro O.F.™ pad is the new and the
most advanced insert in the Giordana
2011 collection. It has been specifically designed for Giordana’s top-of-the-line bibs
and shorts. The thickness of the Cirro O.F.
varies and is 14mm at its thickest point.
The uppermost layer of the Cirro utilizes a
special Nylon microfiber that incorporates
Aloe Vera. Giordana’s Cirro is the first and
only chamois on the market today that
takes advantage of Aloe. The Aloe component is not a treatment, but is permanently
incorporated into the material. Particles
of Aloe Vera are infused into the threads
of the microfiber during the manufacturing process, so that the benefits will not
wash out or fade over time.The integrated
Aloe cools, protects and even heals the
skin while the rider is in the saddle. In addition, Aloe Vera is a natural defender against
bacteria. Below this uppermost layer is a
4mm thick expanded memory foam with a
waffled texture. The divots that create the
texture aid in ventilation and perspiration
management so that the pad does not retain moisture, but moves it to the outside
where it can evaporate rapidly.The foam is
bonded on the bottom with an ultra-fine

Each material used in the construction of OmniForm inserts is
chosen for its elastic characteristics.These chamois protect while
stretching and conforming to the body on the bike, then return
to their original shape every time.The results are inserts that are
smooth, supple, soft and supportive.
NIMBO O.F. ™

make up the primary portion of the chamois that you see. Underneath the upper
layers is a 8mm thick section of open cell
padding that is hand sewn to the materials
above. This highly ventilated padding is cut
to a unique smaller shape that protects and
supports the rider at crucial points against
the saddle. The shape of this bottommost
layer is designed to comfortably contour
to the rider’s anatomy and provide protection where needed most. A prostate relief
cut-out in the center and independent
glute panels allow maximum comfort and
movement with the body in motion. To
ensure that seams never come in contact
with the rider’s body, all stitches are completely concealed in recessed channels.The
Cirro O.F. insert is elastic– stretching and
conforming to all movements on the bike,
then returning to its original shape after
exercise. The advanced technology and attention to detail make the Cirro O.F. the
ideal pad for demanding athletes who always require maximum quality.
The Nimbo O.F.™ pad is a new addition
to the 201l Giordana OmniForm™ family
of inserts. It was created in response to
consumer feedback that called for more
substantial padding at the Performance
and Sport levels. The Nimbo is a seamless insert with variable thickness from 4
to 13mm at its thickest point. The uppermost layer of the Nimbo utilizes a polyester microfiber that incorporates a subtle
texture. The square-shaped recesses that
create the texture aid in ventilation and
perspiration management so that the pad
does not retain moisture, but moves it to
the outside where it can evaporate rapidly.
Directly below this layer is a 3mm thick
expanded memory foam. Underneath the
two upper layers is a 10mm thick section
of open cell padding that is thermal bonded to the materials above. This ventilated
padding is enhanced by perforations that
allow air to circulate more effectively. It is
cut to a smaller shape that protects and
supports the rider at crucial points against
the saddle. The shape of this bottommost
layer is designed to comfortably contour
to the rider’s anatomy and provide protection where needed most. A prostate relief

process that eliminates hard edges caused
by the intense temperatures used in normal molding techniques. A new advanced
thermo-form process and revolutionary
bonding agent are used to form the pad
into a single piece. This process applies
the minimum amount of heat necessary
and does not alter the inherent material properties. The Nimbo O.F. insert is
elastic– stretching and conforming to all
movements on the bike, then returning to
its original shape after exercise.
The MC-3 pad is a one piece, seamless
insert that is both lightweight and flexible. Made of polyester micro fiber, it is
designed to adapt to the contours of
the body in motion, permitting natural
movement. The MC-3 is molded with
Giordana’s HF™ (High Frequency) OmniForm™ technology that eliminates the
sharp edges and hard areas caused by the
high temperature used in normal molding
processes. It is constructed with differentiated thickness to provide more protection
where needed while guaranteeing softness
and comfort.
WOMEN’S SPECIFIC
CIRRO-W O.F.™
The Women’s Cirro O.F. pad has been
specifically designed for Giordana’s topof-the-line women’s bibs and shorts. The
thickness of the Cirro O.F. varies. The uppermost layer of the Cirro utilizes a special
Nylon microfiber that incorporates Aloe
Vera which is permanently incorporated
into the material. The Aloe cools, protects,
fights bacteria and even heals the skin
while the rider is in the saddle. Below this
layer is second layer of expanded memory
foam with a waffled texture that aids in
ventilation and perspiration management.
The foam is bonded on the bottom with
an ultra-fine protective liner. Underneath
the upper layers is a section of open cell
padding cut in a unique smaller shape that
protects and supports the rider at crucial
points against the saddle.
NIMBO-W O.F.™
The Women’s Nimbo O.F. is part of the
OmniForm family of inserts. Created in
response to consumer demand for more
substantial women’s specific padding. This
seamless insert has a variable thickness.The
uppermost layer of the Nimbo utilizes a
soft polyester microfiber that incorporates
a subtle texture that aids in perspiration
management. Below this layer is expanded
memory foam, then a thick section of perforated open cell padding that is thermally
bonded to the materials above. This bottom layer is cut to protect the rider at crucial points against the saddle, comfortably
contouring to the anatomy. Independent
glute panels allow for maximum flexibility
when the body is in motion.
ALTA O.F.™
Aptly named, the Alta sits at the highest
level of technology available in women’sspecific chamois. Giordana utilized it’s
Women’s Contour Fit™ process to develop a pad that provides the proper protection for female cyclists. The modified
and streamlined silhouette is narrower
to better contour to the female form on
the bike. As a result, the Alta is considerably less bulky, yet retains the protective
qualities essential at this level. The insert is
elastic and conforms to the body in motion,
but returns every time to its original shape
after activity.
WMC-3 O.F.™
MS-Mini™
WMC-3 is specially designed for use in our
women’s shorts. The pad is a result of a
study focused on female body movements
when pedaling, taking into account a woman’s different protection needs. The WMC3 is also molded using Giordana’s HF™
(High Frequency) OmniForm™ processing
technique to obtain a soft and extremely
flexible insert. The pad is a single, seamless
component with differentiated thickness to
contour to the body and allow full freedom
of movement. The advent of the WMC-3
makes shorts of the highest quality, comfort and performance available to women.
The MS-Mini is a one piece seamless multisport insert that provides lightweight nonrestrictive comfort. The thin foam pad
moves easily and won’t become heavy if
it’s worn in water, making it ideal for use
in Triathlon garments. Because it’s invisible,
the MS-Mini is a perfect insert for indoor
cycling garments as well. With its smooth
Lycra® inner surface, the MS Mini is hardly
noticeable as it works to provide cushioned comfort.
