VOLUNTEER TUTORS NEEDED
Join the Congregation of St. Joseph in their Adult
Literacy/ESL Program, Tutors on Wheels. The
program needs volunteers to teach in Naperville,
Glendale Heights, Addison, and Bloomingdale.
Teaching takes place in churches, businesses, and
social service agencies. Volunteers are needed to
teach one hour a week, on a one-on-one basis in a
nearby location. Tutoring sessions are scheduled
weekday mornings, some late afternoons (and/or
evenings). One training day will be provided on
Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 9:00 am-11:30 am.
No prior second language skills are needed. For

Queridos Amigos en la diócesis de Joliet,
El Día de los Padres es un día especial para recordar a nuestros padres. También es un tiempo
para recordar a otra clase de padre, nuestros sacerdotes diocesanos. A lo mejor no se dan cuenta que
normalmente los sacerdotes retiran a los 70 años de edad, y que incluso después de la jubilación oficial, muchos continúan trabajando celebrando la liturgia en parroquias, ministrando a los enfermos, o
dando consejos espirituales. Además de sus cheques de seguridad social, los sacerdotes son elegibles
para una pequeña pensión diocesana que ayuda a pagar por sus costos de vida durante la jubilación.
Hay un centro de retiro para los sacerdotes en nuestra diócesis, pero sacerdotes jubilados pueden optar
a vivir por su cuenta. Sus pensiones y seguridad social son apenas suficientes para mantenerse con los
aumentos en los gastos de cada día, tales como la alimentación, los costos de la vivienda y el transporte.
La Diócesis de Joliet tiene fondo para los pensiones de los sacerdotes, pero como muchos planes de jubilación, este fondo necesita ser fortificada. Sé que muchos de ustedes también han sentido el
peso de sus ingresos de jubilación reducidas.
Para fortalecer el fondo de los pensiones para los sacerdotes, una segunda colección llevará a
cabo a través de la diócesis en el fin de semana del Día de los Padres este año y en el futuro para que
los laicos pueden mostrar su aprecio y amor para nuestros sacerdotes - esos ya retirados y aquellos que
se jubilarán en el futuro. No se debe confundir esta colección con la colección para el fondo de jubilación para los religiosos, que ocurre durante diciembre y ayuda a los hombres y mujeres religiosos monjas, hermanos religiosos y sacerdotes pertenecientes a órdenes religiosas. Esa colección no beneficia los sacerdotes diocesanos jubilados.
El año pasado, nos hemos estado observando un año especial para los sacerdotes, que el Papa
Benedicto XVI estableció como una manera de inspirar la perfección espiritual en los sacerdotes y recordar a los fieles a orar por sacerdotes. Parece conexión que, como el año de sacerdotes, termina este
junio, comienza el año eucarístico de nuestra diócesis. Su generosa respuesta a esta colección sería un
símbolo maravilloso de la gratitud que sientes para los sacerdotes que han y continuarán nutriendo su
vida de fe – dando énfasis por su celebración de la Eucaristía - mientras sirviendo el Señor tan fielmente.
En nombre de los sacerdotes de nuestra diócesis, le agradezco sus oraciones y su generosidad

Him, not the comforts of an earthly Kingdom. As Stewards,
Jesus calls us to die to self by putting the needs of others first,
before our own. The reward He offers is nothing less than eternal happiness.
