one of the best countries in the world!
BECOME PART OF A CANADIAN FAMILY
Canada has consistently been ranked by the United Nations as one of
the top five countries in the world in which to live based on quality of
life. Add to that the quality of our education system and you have an
unbeatable combination that will help maximize academic success.
Being educated in Canada provides exciting opportunities and
experiences that will enable students to be well prepared to face
the challenges encountered in today’s global economy.
A quality education system
where young people can prosper

in a safe and friendly environment with
experienced, well-qualified teachers then
the Upper Canada District School Board is
an excellent choice with:
✓ Innovative, effective teaching practices
✓ A dedicated commitment to long-term
student success; many of our students

American Universities

immersing in Canadian culture
The UCDSB
International Students
program includes:
Being in the right home
is critical to success and a
student’s ability to adjust
and succeed. Much care is
taken to match students
with the best home.
Our homestay program
is managed by Canada
Homestay International
(CHI), the largest homestay
company in Canada. They
have successfully managed over 25,000 homestays across the
country. They offer to help support students and their hosts to
ensure the best possible experience for everyone.
✓ Ongoing student support & assistance
Our International Students enjoy the security and the care
of living with a Canadian family in a small-city setting. Each
host family is interviewed, screened and approved prior to
student placement. Each student has his/her own private
bedroom with a suitable study area, internet access and use
of the home’s facilities. We do not allow two international
students who speak the same language to be placed into the
same homestay unless parental consent is obtained from both
families.
✓ For those students who may require additional help with
their studies, we offer a range of optional services as part of
the Student Assistance Program (at an extra cost)
✓ Three-tiered ESL support at our international hub schools
including a dedicated English Language Learner instructor
and classroom, an ESL course that students receive credit for
towards their high school diploma, and after-school classes
to improve ESL and prepare for language proficiency tests
✓ All students are assigned an experienced homestay
coordinator, who is available 24 hours a day and 7 days per
week. They stay in constant contact with the school, host
family and program staff
✓ Program staff review and monitor the students’ educational
plan to ensure progress and success in meeting their
academic goals
✓ New students are invited to participate in an orientation
program and are provided with a Resource Guide
containing all the information needed to make their stay in
Canada a great experience that will last a lifetime
Host families provide snacks and three nutritious meals per
day. They will also provide the encouragement and support
required to help their student throughout their stay in Canada.
✓ Dedicated home stay coordinators
available 24/7
✓ Warm and caring host families
