increase in enrollment
over the summer. We
currently have 464 students in Kindergarten
to Grade 6! This is the

Safe Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
The safety of our students is very important to us and we take it
very seriously. When your child is going to be absent or late, please
call the office ( 613 258 2206 x 108) prior to the start of the school
day. If we do not receive a phone call, we will make every effort to
contact you, the parent, or any / all of the emergency contacts on
file. Please ensure that you keep the office informed of any
changes in contact information. Paperwork was sent home this
week regarding phone numbers to be used in case of emergency.
Please send them back to the school ASAP.
If you are picking your child up, please call the office BEFORE 2:30
in order for us to inform your child before he/she goes outside for
last recess. Please report to the office to sign your child out if pick
up time is before 3:30. If you are picking up at the end of the day,
please ensure that the teacher on duty signs your child out of the
pick up room (Room 7 at the KPS site, and the office at The Annex
site). It is extremely important that we all follow these rules in
order to keep our students safe. Thank you!

Book Fair
& BBQ
KPS will be holding their
annual open house, BBQ
and Book Fair on
We would like to remind you that our school has students
and/or staff with peanut allergies. We kindly ask that you do
not send products that contain peanuts. There are food suppliers who are marketing peanut-free products that look,
taste, and smell like peanut butter. These peanut butter substitute products can cause confusion and create an unsafe
environment for our students and staff that are peanut anaphylactic. Therefore, due to the difficulty in differentiating
between peanut butter and a peanut butter substitute, we do
not allow these products in our school.
We thank you for your support in keeping a safe environment
for all.

Orders are done for three month periods. We offer white or
chocolate milk every day, hotdogs on Wednesdays, and
CHEESE pizza on Friday. Cheques must be made to
Kemptville Public School and we do accept post-dated
cheques, postdated to the beginning of each month.
Volunteers are needed to cook hotdogs each Wednesday.
Preparation and clean up takes about 1.5 hours. If you are

Picture Day
Picture day this year has been divided into two separate days. Our KPS main site (Kindergarten through
Grade 3) is on Tuesday September 3oth. Our
ANNEX location will have their picture day on
Wednesday October 1st. Students
that are absent on these days will be able to have their
picture taken on retake
day. Retake day will be
announced at a later
date.
Please be aware that if you have
indicated that you DO NOT
WISH your child to be photographed in Section 2 of The Student Media Release Form Information, you child will NOT participate in the class photo taken
that day.

Lots of paperwork has been sent home with your child this week.
Please take some time to read everything carefully, fill them out,
and send them back to school as soon as you
can.
Forms that were sent home include Student
Verifications, Emergency Contacts info,
Regular Pickup/Walker info, Hot Lunch, BBQ,
Privacy, Acceptable Use, and Ongoing
Excursion forms.

Bus Evacuation
All students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 will participate
in a bus evacuation program on September 25. Valley Bus
Lines will bring buses to KPS and will demonstrate the
safe way to exit a bus in the event of an accident.
Only two things in this cartoon are NOT ready for school to start…..
First Time Riders Program
On September 17 and 18, our kindergarten students will participate in Valley Bus Lines “First Time Riders” program. The students will be shown a short movie about safety on the school
bus, and then will take a short trip to re-enforce the importance
of bus safety.
Parent Council Elections
Our Parent Council Elections are fast approaching. Watch for nomination forms
to come home soon. Election will be held on September 22. If you would like to
make at difference, why not consider running for council. Council meetings are
held once a month at the KPS site. We would love your help! Check out our latest
