Sport stacking is an exciting sport where students stack and unstack 12 specially-designed cups (Speed Stacks) in
predetermined sequences. Students race against the clock for faster times and race against each other in relays
Sport stacking promotes hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, quickness, concentration and fitness—plus, kids love
it! Sport stacking uses both sides of the body and brain developing important skills needed to dribble and shoot a
basketball, throw and catch a baseball, play a musical instrument, type on a computer and more. By activating both
sides of the brain, students also benefit academically with greater focus and concentration levels.
One of Mrs. Billingsley’s goals as a Physical Educator is to promote activity at home through positive alternatives to
computer, television and video game screen time. Sport stacking is a unique, fun and simple activity that motivates
kids to get up and move. To help accomplish the goal of keeping kids active and healthy, you and your student are
invited to participate in our school Group Order with Speed Stacks.

A Note From Our...
HOW SICK IS TOO SICK?
The best prevention for winter viruses is for each of us to be proactive!
In
addition to teaching and encouraging good hand washing and other sanitary procedures, please
be aware of the following school policies:
Children must be fever-free for a full 24 hours before returning to
school. (If they are sent home with a fever, they may not return the next day.)


Children must also be home 24 hours after vomiting and/or diarrhea.

Please...DRESS FOR THE WEATHER!
Winter weather requires winter clothing. Colorado kids (and adults!)
are infamous for trying to be “hearty”—even during severely cold
temps. This can lead to dangerous frostbite symptoms, the inability
to regulate the body’s temperature, and excessive calorie burn. It
can also make kids and adults very tired, since the body is working
extra hard to keep up its temperature.
Frostbite is a completely preventable injury. How do we prevent
injury and illness from the cold? It’s relatively easy: dress for the
weather!! We need to think every day...what should I wear when I
leave the house? A coat? An extra-heavy coat? Add a hat? Add
gloves? Boots? Students who wait outside for the bus, walk to
school or will be outside for recess need to think about these
factors every day.
And, as always, if you know of students who
do not have a coat, please alert the school
nurse so we can get one for them ASAP. No
one needs to go without a coat, and we are
able to mobilize quickly to ensure everyone at
our school is dressed for the weather.

Challenge School Applications:
Challenge is a K-8 magnet program in CCSD designed to meet the
needs of academically advanced and highly motivated students.
Challenge School is currently accepting applications for the 2015-16
school year from residents of Cherry Creek School District only. Applications and
information are available at http://challenge.cherrycreekschools.org.
Completed applications are due by 4:00 pm on January 27, 2015.
Group tours of the school (adults only) are available on select
Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:00 am. View the school calendar on our website
for specific dates, determine the day that works for you and sign up
by calling Challenge at 720-747-2100. There will be one evening informational meeting
on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 7:00 pm (which does not require a reservation).

School of Choice for 2015-16
The Cherry Creek School District allows its resident students to apply for enrollment in the Cherry
Creek school of their choice. In other words, you may request that your child attend a Cherry
Creek school outside your assigned attendance area. The School of Choice applications are an
electronic form that you can access online from January 1st - February 1st from any computer,
at any time—for acceptance to a school starting in the 2015-16 school year.

24 Hours to Give Where You Live
On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, thousands of donors will come together to support
Colorado nonprofits like the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation. Last year, a recordbreaking $20.9 million was distributed to Colorado nonprofits. This year, our goal is to
raise $85,000.
Give where you live on Colorado Gives Day. Your support helps us continue to Impact
all of our students, Invest in innovation in the classroom, and Build long-term relationships in the community.
This year alone we have given $62,000 in classroom grants to 37 schools which will impact
30,000 of our students.
$1 Million Incentive Fund
Thanks to Community First Foundation and First Bank, Colorado Gives Day features a
$1 Million Incentive Fund, one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country.
Every nonprofit receiving a donation on Colorado Gives Day receives a portion of the
Incentive Fund, which increases the value of every dollar donated
